So, there were some big late 00s/mid 10s artists hitting no. 1 Hot 100 for the first time in the past year. They hit no.1, some years even e decade after their first Hot 100 hit. Like Ariana Grande, Jonas Brothers, Shawn Mendes, and Selena Gomez.
So who has a better luck next to hIt no. 1 Hot 100 as a lead artist between these 2? Nicki or Demi?

Honestly I can see Demi pulling it off with her next era. All eyes are on her now after her overdose and she's with Scooter Braun. As long as the lead single can connect, I see it doing it.
Nicki? Never. As a featured act I think it can still happen, but barring a huge overhaul of her image or her releasing a career highlight in a slow week with a weak #1, I just don't see it happening.

Both are very unlikeable, but Demi's chances are better simply because of Scooter. The competition would need to be extremely weak for Demi as well.

Demi's No. 1 is coming. I can feel it in my bones.

I think Demi will have a better shot right now. Public goodwill is on her side.
Nicki's time has passed, for better or worse. She's getting desperate (feature on BTS, co-lead with Takeshi 69) on some of her more recent choices.

Neither? But Demi has a slight advantage. For her it will come down to the right song at the right time (see also: Gomez, Selena).
For Nicki as a lead I don't see any way she could pull it off. At least right now she's very much out of the public's good graces.

So after Nicki won, will Demi get the no. 1 though? Her political song performed at the Billboard Awards is not commercial at all and may even ruin her career a bit.
