This legendary album, which featured one of the biggest hits of all time, deserves its own thread. The album included both original Christmas songs penned by Mariah and traditional Christmas songs. Mariah co-produced the whole album with Walter Afanasieff and Loris Holland. The album and "All I Want For Christmas Is You" are both currently 6x Platinum in the US.
Re-released on November 1 this year with remixes, new recordings, and the previously unreleased 1994 St. John the Divine concert.

Frankly, I'm not saying this because I'm a huge fan, but, as far as Christmas albums go, if there's one that's *essential* it's this one. Stellar vocals, song selection (a solid mix of standards and originals) and sequencing, arrangements. I listen to it so much every holiday season and never, ever, tire of it. Perfection.

Hands down my fave Christmas album ever!!! I can't honestly say that about other many Christmas albums out there. I like Celine's Christmas album too, but this one is just one of a kind. I should have own this as a kid when I was super into Christmas. I bought in my later years. All the tracks are amazing!!
I was wondering why it wasn't in the Nostalgia section yet, but now I see that it would make sense to post it on here.

It's great that it's 10 (well, 11) tracks because it's no fuss no muss. There's something here for everyone, but it also doesn't wear out its welcome or have needless tracks. It is the essential holiday album.

Is there a Holiday Albums chart yet? Is it #1?

^Indeed- it was No. 6 on the Nov. 9 chart (and No. 40 on Holiday Album Sales). Going by HITS' top 50, it should be No. 1 on this week's Holiday Albums and be at or near the top on Holiday Album Sales.

The album is currently trending to be the #1 album on next week's Billboard 200.
If it happens, about time it becomes one of her #1 albums.

I don’t know how Céline stays so close in album sales when she’s not really that close to Mariah for the past few years.

Something is weird with this chart. If it's just Soundscan, most of those album figures are too high. If it's SPS, they seem too low?

I like how the article highlights the gospel influence on the album.
