ROUND TWO - RESULTS
Before I announce the result of this round, I have something important to tell you . Mr. Lukas couldn't attend this round because he's going on a vacation. So in place of him, I've invited a guest judge to join the juding panel. Joining our judging panel for this week is... Mr. Au$tin ! This week round is very polarizing. Every song has at least one judge who's not fond of it... except for one song. Surely enough, that song is voted as the best of the round. And the person who did the best is... TRILOGY!The Ronettes - "Sleigh Ride"What are the odds of an Indonesian poster winning a Christmas-themed round? The answer is 100% if you send this song! Congratulations, from second best to the best, you are already on fire from the first two rounds! Sambalada: "I've been digging up some 50s and 60s music lately so you're lucky because I was really getting into them. This song is everything you want your jingle bells to be. Joyful, carefree, and timeless." (9.0)MoD: "This is how you do a christmas song. It's catchy, cute and the harmonies really go well with each other." (9.2)Au$tin: "RING A LING A LING A DING DONG DING! Love "Sleigh Ride." It's one of my favorite Christmas tracks and The Ronettes' version is such a classic and so fun! Puts a smile on my face everytime." (8.5)TOTAL: 26.7 | AVERAGE: 8.9The second best is...
INDULGE!Kelly Clarkson - "Underneath The Tree"Congratulations! Keep up with the quality submissions!Sambalada: "This song was played after the Christmas service at my church this year and that was the first time I hear it in public place. Yep, this is a future classic." (9.0)MoD: "Pretty fun song, but it sounded a little bit repetitive and unoriginal for me to completely like it. Plus, the saxophone didn't fit the song lol." (6.7)Au$tin: "A modern holiday classic sure to come for Mariah's wig in 20 years or so. Kelly slays the vocals while the production is just so goddamn fun. That sax solo!" (9.5)TOTAL: 25.2 | AVERAGE: 8.4The third best is...
IO!Sufjan Stevens - "Christmas In The Room"Consistency is key, my guy. And if being in the top 3 two rounds in a row isn't called consistent I don't know what is. Congrats!Sambalada: "Holy shit. Mr. Stevens is truly one of the greatest songwriters to ever exist. This song is bittersweet in the best way, almost too beautiful for us mere humans." (9.5)MoD: "This guy really knows how to make beautiful songs with every single topic doesn't he." (9.0)Au$tin: "I always enjoy a good take on Christmas from a non-commercial/religious perspective where the narrator just describes a simple, poor Christmas or something bad happening, etc. So on that note I enjoy it, but I just cannot get into Sufjan's style and vocals, so that really drags it down for me." (6.0)TOTAL: 24.5 | AVERAGE: 8.17Next...
WALT91!Wham! - "Last Christmas"Sambalada: "A classic for a reason. I love how melancholic the lyrics is in contrast to the music." (8.6)MoD: "This is a really nice song, the production is pretty good, but I always end up tired of it before it even finishes." (6.5)Au$tin: "Another kitschy 80s tastic Christmas track, but I don't think this one suffers because of it. Something about that bass line and synth melody fits the holiday season so perfectly even if the song really doesn't have anything to do with Christmas when you really analyze it. It could be Last Year instead of Last Christmas with no other lyrical changes, remove the sleigh bells, and you've got a year round song lol." (8.5)TOTAL: 23.6 | AVERAGE: 7.87Next...
MAYMAN!Brenda Lee - "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree"Sambalada: "Still can't believe Miss Lee recorded this when she was 12, she sounded very... mature. However, it only make the classic 'feel' of the song more apparent. Truly a holiday classic." (8.3)MoD: "This is cute, but there's something about it that doesn't click with me. The song itself is pretty good though." (6.0) Au$tin: "An iconic Christmas song that still sounds so fun and fresh decades later. It is without a doubt completely deserving of its #2 status to Mariah." (9.0)TOTAL: 23.3 | AVERAGE: 7.77Next...
NICK PERKINS!Elton John - "Step Into Christmas"Sambalada: "The instrumental is very good and Elton's performance is pretty outstanding. The song isn't very well-written though." (6.5)MoD: "Nice song, but I've never really liked Elton John, I find him a little bit annoying in his songs, and this is no exception." (6.0)Au$tin: "Elton's kitschy brand of rock is always an enjoyable listen and the added Christmas aspect makes it that much more fun. I do wish it indulged more in the campiness of Christmas, though." (7.5)TOTAL: 20.0 | AVERAGE: 6.67Next...
BIGFAN!SHeDAISY - "Deck The Halls"
Sambalada: "Ooh this is a nice first listen! I especially love the instrumentals, they really lift your spirits up!" (7.8)MoD: "Now this was pretty annoying, and it was pretty basic, not my thing at all." (3.0)Au$tin: "This is a pretty cute take on the traditional Christmas tune! I really enjoyed the more harmonic take on the traditional melody. The slight alterations to the chord structure was cool too, although some of it did take away some of the "Christmasy" feel. I also enjoyed the "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" overlay towards the end." (8.0)TOTAL: 18.8 | AVERAGE: 6.27Next...
HAMED!Kelly Clarkson - "Wrapped In Red"
Sambalada: "I'm afraid this is kinda going nowhere. I like the lyrical concept but the songwriting is pretty weak. Still a pleasant tune though." (6.0)MoD: "This wasn't bad, just uninteresting. It didn't do much for me." (4.5)Au$tin: "I could never get into this one as much as others, but I do still find it enjoyable. I think the juxtaposition of the legato vocal melody over top the more accented and less connected faux soul production doesn't quite hit the mark for me, but it's still one of the better modern Christmas originals." (7.5)TOTAL: 18.0 | AVERAGE: 6.0Next...
CHARMANDER!Thurl Ravenscroft - "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch"Sambalada: "Welp it's obvious that this song is meant to be enjoyed within the context of the movie lol, but honestly, it makes me smile the whole time." (5.5)MoD: "I have nothing to say other than at least it was interesting lol." (4.0)Lukas: "THAT VOICE! It's so iconic that really no one should touch it-except Jim Carrey who NAILED it in the 2001 film- simply for never being able to get the vocal down. So many childhood memories with this one." (8.0)TOTAL: 17.5 | AVERAGE: 5.83Next...
JUG!Steve Ouimette - "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"Sambalada: "Well this is an oddball. It doesn't suck but I couldn't really enjoy it as much as other songs in this round for obvious reasons." (3.6)MoD: "Pretty entertaining song, although I'm not really a fan of instrumental rock songs I have to say this wasn't bad at all." (7.5)Au$tin: "A very interesting approach to this one. I think I would have liked it more had there been vocals on it too to really sell the rock approach. It was really fun when the main melody really kicked in, but when it wasn't there, it was a bit harder to enjoy." (6.0)TOTAL: 17.1 | AVERAGE: 5.7The last person to escape bottom two is...
LEO!Lauren Daigle - "Silent Night"Sambalada: "My all time favorite Christmas carols! I like the jazz-y twist and her delivery but the feeling I got from listening to this as a child is lost so I'm disappointed." (5.8)MoD: "A little bit boring for my taste, but her vocals were strong and the piano was pretty good on here." (5.5)Au$tin: "Another traditional Christmas track I've never been able to get into. Her vocals are fine and all and the more jazz ballad esque production is a nice take, but overall I just found it boring." (5.5)TOTAL: 16.8 | AVERAGE: 5.6Which means the bottom two are...
ADRIAN C. & CARRIEOne of you will be eliminated. The last person who get to stay another week is...
CARRIE!Celine Dion - "O Holy Night"Sambalada: "This really showcases the strength of Miss Dion's vocals. I do feel like the song should end about halfway through though. Kinda dragged on a little too long for me." (7.0) MoD: "Now this was really boring, her voice is great and all but man does she put me to sleep lol." (2.5)Au$tin: "I am not a fan of "O Holy Night," or really most religious Christmas songs for that matter, but this is one of the best version of this track out there. Beautiful vocals, especially around the 4-minute mark, with a decent production behind it." (7.0)TOTAL: 16.5 | AVERAGE: 5.5
You see, even displeasing one judge can almost send you home. My advice for the upcoming rounds is try sending songs that fit all the judges' taste.Which means...
ADRIAN C.,I'm sorry but you've been eliminated.Band Aid - "Do They Know It's Christmas?"Sambalada: "Charity songs do have the tendencies to be cheesy and cringe-worthy no matter how talented the assembly is, and this song honestly isn't an exception." (4.2) MoD: "Yeah, no, this doesn't work at all. It's just like if We Are The World was a christmas song, and that's not good." (3.0) Au$tin: "It's bombastically 80s which makes for a decent, but dated listen, and like all charity singles that are stuffed to the brim with superstars, it just doesn't hit the marks you're wanting it to. An enjoyable enough listen, but otherwise far down on my list of Christmas must listens." (6.0) TOTAL: 14.2 | AVERAGE: 4.4
This is unfortunate. You would've stayed if you weren't too in a rush to send songs, especially since there are thousand of songs out there that fit the criteria. Thank you for participating.

It worked that time! Between this and "Where Are You Christmas" by Faith Hill, I ultimately went with O Holy Night because I knew Céline was a singer whose voice a lot of people love. I know religious songs aren't everyone's cup of tea and can be quite polarizing but I figured I might as well go on a limb! In honesty, I didn't think I'd escape elimination but I'm glad I did. Hopefully next round I can blow y'all away! and research y'all's tastesCongrats to everyone who made it to the next round! Sorry to see you go Adrian C. 🍓 :'(

Ew @ Celine even being close to the bottom let alone bottom 2.
Next installment of this we should have 4 or 5 judges and they should be a little more diversified imo.

But obviously this is just the start of the game and like ANTM did, there were a lot of changes over the seasons :)
