Final two time! Either the Tasteful or the Hateful are going to come last~
The fortunate winner of this two-team race is:6. The Tomato Haterz Squad (BB🌕 & walt91 )Overall Score: 54.4Detour Rank: #7 | Roadblock Rank: #5Bonus From Leg 7: +1.0 (2nd Place)Detour Results:(Rich City)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I’d say this is one of the better songs I’ve heard from Kim Petras, while still not necessarily standing out enough to be truly great. it’s about money at least! (5 for quality, 3 for theme = 8/10) Mylo: I like Kim a decent amount, and this song isn’t an exception. And yet, this does lack something from her regular work? This is very much a 7/10 song, cool but not worth repeated listens imo. Fits the theme well enough though~ (5.6 for quality, 2.5 for theme, 8.1 overall)Julien: As a song it somewhat fits the category lyrically speaking. Production wise the song feels cheap and is just another production from Dr. Luke. (Song 1/7, 1.5/3 for category = 2.5/10)
Overall: 19.1 Roadblock Results:(Sent by Walt)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: god I love this song so fucking much. that melody is just perfect and both Gwen Stefani & Akon are on fire here. classic tune ~ 10/10
Mylo: I can’t be the only one who finds this song a bit off-putting right? The ‘woo-hoo’ hook is a bit off and something about Gwen’s deeper vocals don’t work for me. I also find this a bit clunky, the song stomps along rather than flows smoothly. It’s weirdly dark sounding for being a song that’s meant to be positive lol. It’s not bad but it’s easily my least favourite in this challenge sorry. (5.5/10)
Fearless: This is a slightly different choice from a lot of the 2010 hits that are here - love this one too. The doo-wop influence in this song isn’t something you see a lot in more recent pop music (unless you were Meghan Trainor) and the riff that keeps playing the background outside of the chorus is really cool too. Not sure how I feel about Akon’s “weehoo, yeehoo” (or however you spell it); it’s catchy but also annoying but outside of that it’s a solid pop song. (9.5/10)
Leo: This is a clasic, great song. (9.5/10)
Overall: 34.3
Another lower round for you, it seems whenever you get in a groove one leg messes you up and you fall right back down to the bottom lol! However, you ARE still in and that's what's important! Enjoy being in the top 6, and be ready for the next leg guys.

I suppose all good things must come to an end7. #TEAMTASTE (SHOOTER & surfy )Overall Score: 48.5 (-3 from FF)Detour Rank: #4 | Roadblock Rank: #7 | Fast Forward Rank: #2Fast Forward:Judge's Thoughts:Nick: this song didn’t quite seem to know what it wanted to be lol. it’s like trying to be this big, classic rock country throwback song but to me it feels way overdone and a bit messy and I don’t think Miranda Lambert’s voice works super well for this type of song. sorry :/ (4.5/10)
Mylo: Now this rocks! Love this style from Miranda, full of energy and personality that country could use right about now lol. It does get a touch old by the end though lol, other than that no complaints! (9.3/10)
Luxas: ... Okay, okay, Milo. I surrender. I will review these two songs for you, just leave my family alone. Anyway, as I'm looking up Locomotive, I notice that the album opener of its host album would perfectly describe us, Milo, isn't that funny? For the track itself, Locomotive initially reminded me of a Camp Rock song (somehow), which is not a bad thing necessarily as that had some childhood jams. I think the instrumental is pretty cool, and she sounds good, although there is no part of the song that I can really recall after listening to it. (8/10)
Bboat: This one is actually a first listen for me too, believe it or not. But I LOVE the groove of this one! The brisk tempo, the rocking guitars, the uncharacteristically gritty and gravelly performance from Miranda, the way the busy arrangement kinda dies down for a couple measures every once in awhile to allow Miranda to really drive the rapid-fire lyrics home... Really just a very well-done song! And sassy Miranda is the best Miranda. (9.5/10)
Overall: 31.3
Detour Results:(Rich City)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: well it’s about money. aside from that I find this to be a thoroughly unremarkable track. save for The Sweet Escape, Gwen Stefani just isn’t really my thing. and I just find this song uninteresting and mediocre, though not a super unpleasant listen. (4 for quality, 3 for theme = 7/10)Mylo: Confusing is how I’d describe my thoughts on this song. It’s not bad or anything but the verses bring a good melody to a chorus that just randomly goes into a repetition of nananana lol. But then it doesn’t stay consistent with that and the second half sounds off? Add this to a song that’s hindered by its chorus. Eve’s verse is excellent though. (5 for quality, 2.5 for theme, 7.5/10)Julien: Excellent groove, excellent feature and just an amazing song overall. This song fits this category perfectly. (7/7 for song, 3/3 for catgory = 10/10)
Overall: 24.5 Roadblock Results:(Sent by Surf)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: yeeeeah I’m not really a fan. I mean like I get the love and I get how this coulda clicked with people. but eh, it’s not really for me. while like the sample here is cool, I don’t like how it mixes with the super bassey parts and I’m not a huge fan of how Juice sounds here. it’s def not awful, but eh I just find it kinda mediocre. sorry :/ 4/10
Mylo: Strong points either way for this song. It sounds amazing, love the delivery and the sample here is used very well. Impressive except for the lyrics which are questionable on a few levels. My personal favourite is *You were made out of plastic. FAKE* as if we needed clarification what he meant with that line. I guess I’ll give it an 8/10 overall? (8/10)
Fearless: I think this is the only song that didn’t come from a female diva - bonus points for that, idk who sent this but this is a pretty bold choice looking at the songs that were submitted. It being a “therapy session” for him is an interesting factoid about this too - I support getting your feelings out through healthy channels! Using the “Shape of My Heart” is pretty clever too - the riff sticks in your head from that song alone so it’s a pretty catchy riff (now the legal aspects is not the concern here). I typically don’t like this style of singing (?) but I’ve always liked this song for whatever reason. (8/10)
Leo: I'm not too sold on this song but I can accept is a decent one, not my favorite of the set. (7/10)
Overall: 27
after a turbulent run, you two have landed in last place. And I'm sorry to say but this is an elimination leg, and as such you are now eliminated from the race. but hey, you certainly had an impactful run on the race, and now you'll get to show the rest of us judges how it's done!

Leg 9: Beijing, Shanghai & SingaporeChallenge #1: Roadblock (Beijing)What is a roadblock? In these challenges, only one member of the team can come up with a song to send. No consulting. You'll be on the honor system here. Send in your group pm who will do this road block. They will then without consulting their teammate see the theme and send the song in individual pms. tl;dr only one person sends a song, pick who that is in the group pms, then and only then they see the theme Challenge #2: Detour (Shanghai)What is a detour? In these challenges, two themes will be available, and teams will choose to send a song for the one they feel more confident in. Be sure to specify which theme you are sending for Detour Theme: Karaoke Songs or Staying StrongKaraoke Songs: Shanghai’s Fuxing Park is frequently home to a group of retired karaoke singers, enjoying their golden years singing (and if enough people show up, dancing) their hearts off. For this detour, you must send a song that is a karaoke stapleORStaying Strong: Shanghai’s Dongtai Lu “Antique” Market is home to a ton of bizarre Chairman Mao Zedong memorabilia: from wristwatches to collectible figures, it seems that Mao’s legacy is staying strong over there. For this detour, you must send a song from an artist whose career has sustained for a long period of timeChallenge #3: Intersection (Singapore)What is an intersection? An intersection is a challenge where two teams must work together to complete a challenge. For this game, teams will be decided based on the previous leg's results, with the first and last teams being paired together and so on. The teams will receive the same score for their performance together, but will complete every other challenge as normal. Here are the Intersection Groups:The Caged Nooks (@doinktheclown & tanooki ) and The Tomato Haterz Squad (BB🌕 & walt91 )The Optimistic Cockroaches (willapted33 & samo🦕 ) and The Sickos (@drakeisskinny & Mayman )Team Jeff (singingrulebritannia & jamesflame ) and The 😎s (MoD & DistrictTwelve )Intersection Theme: Singapore is a city-state that has a diverse range of citizens. They even have four official languages, English, Tamil, Chinese and Malay. For this intersection, in groups of two teams, you must submit a song that prominently features two or more languages. Consult with your teammate and get your songs in within 36 hours or else your team will NOT have a song in that category and will get an automatic 0/10. Remember that you will be receiving a bonus based on how well you placed overall last week. You're always welcome to ask me and Mylo any questions you have! Good luck everyone!

OMG when the songs went up I had this tiny thought in the back of my mind "it would be hilarious if Surf sent Lucid Dreams for Roadblock behind Shooter's back since he hates that song" but that was actually what happened

Check-in #2 Every 4 legs, we'll check in and go over the events that have transpired! We'll catch up on leg info, scores and what the future could hold for our teams. Leg 5:
After Leg 4 turned out to be a non elimination leg, teams were on the edge of their seats knowing that during this leg there would for sure be a team going home. The teams touched down in Europe for the first time, visiting Rome and Madrid. And with the second Fast Forward of the race in play, it was truly anyone's game.
After being saved by a non elimination leg just days ago, The Caged Nooks, Tanooki and Juggalo, won the Fast Forward yet again to clinch their second leg win. They even managed to overcome a speed bump to secure their 1st place position. Coming in not too far behind was The 😎s, MoD and DistrictTwelve, after leaving the roadblock in second place and having the best detour performance. It was clear they were quickly becoming frontrunners in the race. The top 3 was rounded out by the previous leg's winners, BB and Walt.
The bottom two teams came down to #TEAMTASTE, Shooter and Surf, and Team Orange, BrainC and Drae. Ultimately, #TEAMTASTE came in second to last, due in part because of their failed attempt to win the Fast Forward. Unfortunately, despite coming second in the detour, their subpar roadblock performance put them way too far behind and BrianC and Drae were eliminated.
Leg 6:
This leg saw the teams traveling to the great European cities of London and Paris, this time with no gimmicks. The London detour saw Jaden and Shruggie departing in first place, followed closely by Leo and Julien, Gates and James, & MoD and DistrictTwelve. However, during the roadblock in Paris, there were major shakeups in terms of the team order.
Ultimately, The 😎s came in first for the leg after simply dominating the roadblock. The Sickos, Drakeisskinny and Mayman, followed closely behind. The Sickos suffered from coming second to last in the detour, but due to a top 3 roadblock finish they were able to secure 2nd place here. The top 3 was rounded out by The Caged Nooks, who had officially secured their first top 3 placement that didn't involve a Fast Forward.
Though Team Jeff held steady at #5, they were bookended by teams bouncing back from poor placements, with Team Nameless (Leo & Julien) jumping up four spots to 4th place, and #TEAMTASTE hopping up three stops for a 6th place finish.
7th Place saw the arrival of The Tomato Haterz Squad, BB and Walt, who despite making up ground with a decent roadblock performance had left the detour in last place, thus slowing them down. With easily the biggest shock of the leg, 8th Place went to former frontrunners The Optimistic Cockroaches, Will and Samo, who simply had a mediocre performance overall during the leg. However, last place went to our youngest team The Rock Lovers, Jaden and Shruggie. As previously mentioned, they came first in the London Detour. However, due to a terrible performance from Shruggie in the Paris Roadblock, they ended up in last for the leg, disappointing many former contestants, crazyb most of all.
Leg 7: Leg 7 saw the teams visit Berlin and Stockholm. But more importantly, it saw them face their biggest challenge yet: The Yield Vote. Whichever team received the most votes would receive a brutal -5 penalty. Immediately, The Sickos recognized the power of this vote and attempted to build a coalition to go after a frontrunner team. However, due to their back to back to back top 4 placements, they were the ones who got the most yield votes and ended up receiving the penalty.
After securing 1st in the detour and 2nd in the roadblock, the frontrunners turned underdogs Will and Samo took home their second leg win. Following them closely was The Tomato Haterz Squad, another team bouncing back from a subpar placement. Lastly, The 😎s took home 3rd place, officially having their first leg wherein they declined in placement.
4th Place shockingly went to the yielded team, The Sickos. Despite their yield, they finished in the top 3 for both challenges, angering former contestant Shruggie. Team Jeff yet again fell in 5th place after another very consistent leg, but some started to worry if the team would be able to break from the middle of the pack. The Caged Nooks struggled this leg, falling into 6th place due to finishing the detour last. However, thankfully for their fans, they were able to bounce back with a solid roadblock showing from Juggs.
The bottom 2 was made up of teams that had been consistently struggling, #TEAMTASTE and Team Nameless. #TEAMTASTE performed poorly thoroughout the leg and came second to last for their third time during the race. That sadly meant that it was time to say goodbye to Team Nameless, who left the detour in second to last and roadblock in dead last. After saying goodbye to the quietest team in the race, it was clear that the back half of the race would be full of chaos.
Leg 8:
Our most recent leg saw the teams take on the season's final Fast Forward in Tashkent, and yet again it was won by The Caged Nooks, proving for sure that they were a force to be reckoned with. 2nd Place went to The Optimistic Cockroaches, who after struggling for a few legs were showing why so many pegged them as frontrunners early on. Lastly, our top 3 was rounded out by Team Jeff breaking their 5th Place streak with an especially strong roadblock showing.
4th and 5th Place saw The 😎s and The Sickos lock in sold placements yet again. However, with both teams on the decline, many fans are beginning to worry if either team has what it takes to seal the deal and win the season.
The Tomato Haterz Squad, despite leaving the detour in dead last, managed to make up just enough ground in the roadblock to save themselves and advance to the next leg. Which unfortunately means that #TEAMTASTE tasted elimination after bombing the roadblock. Many were sad to see the team that was always down to strike back against production leave the game.
Team updates + exit interview coming soon!

here's our exit interview with SHOOTER and surfyhow do you feel about your time in the race?
Shooter: A waste.
Surf: honestly i can’t say i’ll miss it, but it really is a fun idea! i feel like all of my choices were solid and some of the girls are sorely lacking in awareness and taste.
do you think you could've/should've done anything different?
Shooter: Wouldn't have mattered based on the "standards" of the judges.
Surf: absolutely not. we served a feast, a plethora of exquiteness on a dish. and it went to waste. tragic, really.
any predictions?
Shooter: Nope. This is not a fair fight.
Surf: absolutely not i have no idea who’s left in the game.

Somewhere, Jeff is crying tears of happiness. And honestly, aren't we all?
Overall Score: 102.9 Roadblock Rank: #3 | Detour Rank: #1 | Intersection Rank: #1 Bonus from Leg 8: 1.5 (3rd place) Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Jamesflame)
Judges' Thoughts:
Nick: (6.5 for quality, 2.5 for theme = 9/10)
Mylo: I didn’t expect to love this so much but man, this is excellent. Guitar is fantastic, lyrics are emotionally resonant. Melody is amazing, strings back everything up, great pick! (6.9 for quality, 2.7 for theme, 9.6 overall)
Surf: Listen, the song is gorgeous. The instrumentation is fantastic. I think most things that come from the arts have an element of drama in them, this song is no exception. But I don't think this song does anything to push itself over-the-top, I do appreciate a more cinematic and subdued take on the dramatic theme, though. (6/7 quality points. 1.5/3 theme points. 7.5/10)
Charmander: Quality: 5/7 Theme: 1.5/3 Total: 6.5/10
I don't know much about Kansas, besides one of their most well-known songs, Carry on my wayward son. Which would be more dramatic than this, because this is not really dramatic, just more depressing, saying all we are is just dust. Instrumentation is nice but it's not over the top, or dramatic as the theme says. Decent song, but not very fitting to the theme imo.
Overall: 32.6
Detour Results:
(Staying Strong)
Judges' Thoughts:
Nick: (6.5 for quality, 3 for theme = 9.5/10)
Mylo: Paramore have been around far longer than I’d anticipated! They actually started out right around when I started kindergarten, which feels oh so long ago to me now. And this is one of their all-time bests, up there with Decode and Still Into You. I don’t know what to say beyond every aspect of this song being awesome! Excellent from top to bottom, especially that xylophone (totally underrated instrument)~ (9.8/10)
Shooter: Great song, but the theme. A 15-year career is also a relatively long period of time but it's not quite a full two decades yet so I'm a bit hesitant to give it a higher mark. 7.5/10.
CrapDude: First off, ADoseOfBuckley can suck it. Second of all, I remember when around this time, I saw Paramore as sellouts. But now, I will admit while this isn't my favorite by them, it is an absolutely fun song. Love the opening drums and notes, and I love the touch of the choir in the third verse. Yeah, pretty memorable. (8.5/10)
Overall: 35.3
Intersection Results:
(With MoD and District) Judges' Thoughts:
Nick: (9.5/10)
Mylo: I do wish this song had a little less English, it definitely feels English-centric, but otherwise this is awesome! I’m really digging Kero Kero Bonito, I loved Make Believe and this is up there too. (9.5/10)
Zach: (7/10)
Austin: I really feel that this theme should feature a song that prominently features multiple languages, but in this track, the Japanese is only present in about 90% of the bridge and the rest of the track is in English. Props for not sending in the more abundant and obvious Spanish examples, though! An extra half point for going with an Asian language in the Chinese stop. (Would've been even cooler if the song were in Chinese, though.) Song Rating: 4/5 This is fun! It's got this cool 80s vibe to it that reminds me a lot of something like The Go-Go's. It's very cute. Judges' Thoughts:
Nick: (5 for quality, 3 for theme = 8/10)
Mylo: Beyonce has shown up quite a lot in this competition! Not my favourite of the ones we’ve heard, it’s about on par with Ring The Alarm to me. Theme wise it’s killing it though~ (4.5 for quality, 2.5 for theme, 7 overall)
Surf: Oh, honey! This is definitely dramatic. Everything post-bridge is showstopping. Beyonce strikes an absolutely beautiful balance between vocal acrobatics and genuine emotion. Bless whoever chose this one! (7/7 quality points. 3/3 theme points! 10/10)
Charmander: Quality: 6/7 Theme: 2/3 Total: 8/10
I'm not too big of a Beyoncé fan, but this was pretty good. These kind of power ballads can be kind of hit or miss for me, but the lyrics and content keep me interested, and the production kicking in at the second half make this a pleasant listen. I don't know how often I would back to this which is why I can't give it a perfect, but it's a solid song. Theme-wise it's not the most dramatic thing out there in terms of production, but the lyrics and vocals do provide dramatization to it, so I see where it's coming from, but to get a full theme score, I was looking for a little more over the topness. But overall, nice song.

(Karaoke Songs)
Judges' Thoughts:
Nick: (7 for quality, 3 for theme = 10/10)
Mylo: Classic! I adore this song, and it is rightfully a karaoke staple. Even if my poor vocal chords can’t remotely replicate Whitney’s tone, I can’t help but sing along to this irresistible piece of pure dance pop! (9/10)
Shooter: Based on my indiscriminate internet searches, I came up with IWDWS averaging 5th on the list of best karaoke songs of all time. However, it failed to make the list for both MentalFloss and InsiderMonkey's official lists (culled from verified, reputable sources) of the most requested karaoke songs of all time and I personally feel that, as great of a song as it is, a true staple would be highly requested, not just beloved. (6.5/10)
PoopDude: Literally, nothing I can complain about for this one. This is an absolute CLASSIC, and one of Whitney's most iconic performances. (9.5/10)

Intersection Results:
(With Tanooki and Jugs) Judges' Thoughts:
Nick: (8/10)
Mylo: I don’t actually think I’ve heard the version with Christina and crew haha, so hearing this is my first toe into the water of Lady Marmalade. And I got to say, it’s a good toe! That is to say, it’s a good song lol. Cool pick~ (8.5/10)
Zach: (7/10)
Austin: Theme Rating: 2/5 Yeah, it has French mixed in here and there, but it's only the same two lines. Song Rating: 5/5 An absolute iconic classic song! One of soul's most recognisable hits by one of soul's most recognisable voices. A total earworm, sexy, and classy. Overall Rating: 7/10
Overall: 30.5
You're back up... for this leg at least. You receive 1.5 points, enjoy being in the top 5~
