Artist: Luke Combs (feat. Eric Church) Single: "Does to Me" Writers: Luke Combs, Ray Fulcher, Tyler Reeve Album: What You See Is What You Get Label: Columbia Nashville/Riser House Impact Date: TBA
Luke confirmed today on various social media platforms that this will be the next single from “What You See Is What You Get”. I love this song, it is my favorite on the entire album, no surprise as they are two of my favorite artists!

Just read it too. Love me some Eric Church. This song is awesome. So glad they went with it as the next single. Wish Eric’s part was a little bigger but can’t wait to start hearing this on the radio.

Is this being credited as "Luke Combs & Eric Church" instead of "Luke Combs feat. Eric Church" for the single release (just from the thread title)?
This was a pretty obvious but nonetheless great single choice! It's showing up on the Spincrease and Taking Off list so some stations have already started picking this up.

Hope he brings Eric Church to SNL and performs this! And a music video that features both.

This is my favorite song off the album!
As I mentioned before, this feels like a passing of the torch kind of moment, where one of the greats of this generation is unofficially giving the throne to Combs. It's a beautiful moment of respect and appreciation, which is perfectly exemplified throughout the song!
God, I'm so freaking happy this is a single!

A bit disappointed by this choice because this song is basically a weaker version of "Refrigerator Door." Wouldn't have been in my top 5 or so options for the next single, but it's a decent enough song. I'm not terribly surprised they're going with this and I'm sure, like almost everything on the record, it will be another smash for him. I wish we were getting the B&D collaboration as a single over this one though.

I wish we were getting the B&D collaboration as a single over this one though. You make very fair, salient points here. Many of my friends tell me the same thing, that Refrigerator Door creates the same story, yet somehow conveys it through stronger meaning. I am very blind to the fact that Eric Church is on this song because I am a big fan of his. Plus, I feel as though I can relate to this one more (just me personally). I am not a fan of taking pictures (not the biggest fan of looking at myself let alone posing for a photograph), but I did go to prom with a good friend of mine and we went as friends, and that made me happy. As Eric Church gets into the point of his grandfathers possessions, I too relate to the fact of remembering my grandparents through the things I currently own that they passed down to me. The things and actions he describes don't need pictures to remind him. They're always with him in his heart. Once again, that's more me than anybody else because most people remember such things through the use of pictures (they're worth a thousand words for a reason). I do hope that helps my clarify my love for this song. Sorry you didn't get your choice here, but there are at least two more hits on this album somewhere, so the B&D collab is still possible (the other will 99.99% be Better Together).

I have no interest in Eric (although I've been tempted to give him a second chance out of spite), but I'm happy that this is a single. I don't think it's any more samey than anything else on the album.

This was the immediate standout to me on the album from all the new standouts, which is impressive since I loathe Eric Church's voice. I also wondered if this was going to be chosen as the next single since I actually heard this on one of our local country stations just the other night. Of course this same station also played Maren's "All My Favorite People" and the second single ended up being "The Bones" lol.

I agree with you that "Refrigerator Door" is a better song, but I think "Does To Me" is catchier and the bigger smash as a radio single. As an Eric Church fan, I can't wait to hear this and see them win awards for it.

I like this song, but not sure I ever saw it as single material. There were stronger options for radio on the album in my opinion. This should still race up the charts though as most A-list collaborations do.

Melody and production are great, I dislike the lyrics. And I suspect a song extolling white male mediocrity is going to get real old for me, real fast.

This song is great, but I never saw it as single material. However, I'm sure this will still climb straight to #1 like anything else on this album will. Really hoping that "Moon Over Mexico" becomes a single at some point; I'm the #1 stan of that song lol

Doesn’t sound like single material to me either, but I’m sure it will be an easy Top 5.

Doesn’t sound like single material to me either, but I’m sure it will be an easy Top 5. The way radio eats Combs up, it'll be top 5 by next week. In all seriousness though, I do expect this song to remain in contention to continue Combs' streak of number 1s. Not to mention the final push it will get if it does reach top 5. Even something that is considered a weak song for Combs always has the possibility of reaching #1 on this notion alone.

The label was not intending on not picking a song from the EP last summer as the next single — they wanted a new one from the LP this fall, but that doesn’t mean a song like “Refrigerator Door” is off the table for a future release.
It was always down to “Does to Me” or “Better Together” for the follow-up to “Even Though I’m Leaving.” I think this is a great choice — a distinct melody and memorable music with universal relatability. Love it for the spring time, too. This would have been my choice as well. Anything Luke releases will reach #1 and this is no different. Radio will love this one, no doubt in my mind.

Look at country radio right now, you can't be a mediocre female, but we have tons of generic males. And that's only a microcosm of society. White, straight, christian, males can be mediocre/underachieve etc & life is still all good for (some of) them. But basically no one else has that luxury.

These lyrics do make me cringe (sounds exactly like what a typical #Trump2020 social media commenter would say) but this is a really solid song otherwise. I’m looking forward to hearing it on the radio in the next few months.

They seem like typical things country songs have always celebrated.

They seem like typical things country songs have always celebrated. Not exactly Trump sided per se, but more a common perspective that some (and I think it’s important to note not all) white men have when they feel threatened (ex. when a female country artist tweets that they work twice as hard as men, there is always a comment from a man saying how hard men work and that the female’s music isn’t “good enough”). That’s what I was getting at.

This song wouldn't irk me if it wasn't the exact same message as "Refrigerator Door" and presented in almost exactly the same way, minus the stronger hook and focusing more on family life/growing up vs. just some joe schmoe and his 'accomplishments.' I'm not quite bothered by it in the way that a few others seem to be, but also I feel like it's just a bit mediocre compared to some of the other more interesting songs they could've gone with on the album. Eric Church's (minor) presence on the song is likely a big part of why it was selected as a single, and I get that they'd wanna go with something fresher and not another one from the original EP (like "Refrigerator Door"), but they had several other better options imo.

This is one of my favorites from the album...and reminds me a lot of something Church would have recorded back in the days of "Sinners Like Me" and "Carolina".

I shouldn't have brought politics into this, that's my bad. However I do believe my point still stands about certain lyrics of "Does to Me". Lyrics like "I'm a damn hard working" and "I stand up for what I believe" especially feel trite because I've heard them a million times before–not only in song lyrics–which is what makes me cringe. It's the same thing for bro-country lyrics, they're overused and got old fast. Don't lyrics like "painted on blue jeans", "jacked-up truck" or "stick the pink umbrella in your drink" make you guys cringe?
