12. Adele - When We Were Young [peak #13]: While having the biggest return ever with "Hello" followed by "25" it is insane to imagine directly in the midst the most surefire ballad faltered and couldn't even reach top 10.
I remember she switched from performing this song to "All I Ask" at the Grammy's. Seemed like a pretty big mistake at the time, and without a video people were confused as to what the second single actually was. Especially considering how loved "When We Were Young" is now and how well it is streaming.

Adele's Oh My God and Miley's River underperforming is devastating tbh. Both bops and both follow-ups to #1s, deserved better!

rush by troye sivan not even cracking the top 50 is wild considering chr was really friendly to his last lead single and rush had a much better start then my my my did. also it's a total earworm

'Rush' can't be considered an underperformance when it was never even set to perform in the first place. 'One Of Your Girls' is the first song of the era to be actively pushed to radio.
