Wow Zach Bryan a top 10 contender for the Hot 100? I did not see this timeline coming but I love it! It got 8 adds on country radio this week, hopefully radio picks it up a bit too, he's one of the biggest things happening in country right now along with Luke Combs/Morgan Wallen.

#5 on the US Spotify chart too. I still don't see country radio embracing someone who's so self-admittedly an outsider of the establishment. Still I love to see this. This is also great timing for his chances at a Best New Artist Grammy nom.

“Oklahoma Smoke Show” continues to blow up, and is a better song imo. I could see that one fairing a little better at radio since it’s more upbeat, though the lyrics/theme are a bit dark.

If radio is smart, it will send this up the chart fast. The general public is all over this artist and it would be truly embarrassing for them to not pay attention to him. He is a household name among high school and college aged kids. Literally. Ask any young person who they're listening to right now, MANY will say Zach Bryan.

This is absolutely going to be very polarizing in country radio, given Chris Stapleton's history with country radio despite being top-tier artist. Definitely hard to fit in current playlists too. (Radio is not that smart either.)

Country radio and Nashville should be embarassed if they don't embrace someone who has struck such an organic chord. He's look like a good bet for Best New Artist at the Grammys at this point.

Nashville loves him: radio on the other hand could and should have egg on their faces if they turn their nose up at this in the name of “research”.

His snub at the CMAs doesn't inspire loads of confidence that Nashville is going to welcome him with open arms.

We'll see. His snub at the CMAs doesn't inspire loads of confidence that Nashville is going to welcome him with open arms. Quite opposite I would say, as the album is in second round of ballot before he is promoted by Nashville labels. I think the pure strong commercial performance helped to highlight him as a non-negligible force.

Looks like some Canadians (definitely not me!) have interest in him as well. Debut at #48 in Canadian Country Airplay with the total adds of 10 stations (36 total reporting stations).

It’s a good song but it just doesn’t fit / sound like anything else on country radio. I don’t see it being embraced.

Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 (finally)!!! https://www.instagram.com/p/CnhWJ__uV63
Also an excerpt from the Chart Beat article from this week talking about "Something in the Orange": Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti-Hero’ Becomes Her Sole Longest-Leading Hot 100 No. 1 With Eighth Week on TopPlus, SZA hits a new No. 2 career best with "Kill Bill" and Zach Bryan scores his first top 10 with "Something in the Orange." By Gary Trust 01/17/2023 www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/taylor-swift-anti-hero-eighth-week-number-one-zach-bryan-top-10-1235199856/Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Zach Bryan’s “Something in the Orange” rises 11-10, with 17.4 million streams (up 2%), 3.9 million in radio reach (up 8%) and 4,000 sold (down 6%). The track, which Bryan wrote solo and is from his major-label debut album American Heartbreak, is his first Hot 100 top 10, after it became his first entry on the chart in May. It ties for the second-longest trip to the top 10 – 38 chart weeks – matching the journeys of Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” in 2006-07 and Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You),” the latter over a whopping 11 on-and-off runs from its 1960 debut to the latest holiday season). Just one song has taken longer to reach the top 10, by total time on the tally: Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves”: 42 weeks in 2021. “Orange” tops the multi-metric Hot Country Songs chart for a third week. Notably, it’s the 15th No. 1 on the survey that has hit the Hot 100’s top 10 since Hot Country Songs adopted the Hot 100’s methodology in October 2012: “Something in the Orange,” Zach Bryan, No. 10 Hot 100 peak (to-date), 2023 “You Proof,” Morgan Wallen, No. 5, 2022 “The Kind of Love We Make,” Luke Combs, No. 8, 2022 “Don’t Think Jesus,” Morgan Wallen, No. 7, 2022 “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” Taylor Swift, No. 1 (one week), 2021 “Fancy Like,” Walker Hayes, No. 3, 2021 “Wasted on You,” Morgan Wallen, No. 9, 2021 “I Hope,” Gabby Barrett feat. Charlie Puth, No. 3, 2020 “Forever After All,” Luke Combs, No. 2, 2020 “7 Summers,” Morgan Wallen, No. 6, 2020 “10,000 Hours,” Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber, No. 4, 2019 “Meant To Be,” Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line, No. 2, 2018 “Body Like a Back Road,” Sam Hunt, No. 6, 2017 “Cruise,” Florida Georgia Line feat. Nelly, No. 4, 2013 “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” Taylor Swift, No. 1 (three weeks), 2012 Just 21% of all Hot Country Songs No. 1s (15 of 76) since October 2012 have hit the Hot 100’s top 10 – although 10 of 22 Hot Country Songs leaders have peaked in the Hot 100’s top 10 since 2020 – a more-than-doubled 45% success rate in that more recent span. Plus, of the songs listed above, all four since the start of 2022 have hit the Hot 100’s top 10 largely from strong streaming and varied degrees of country radio airplay – but not crossover formats, having not appeared on any of Billboard’s pop or adult airplay charts; of the previous 11, all except one (“Forever After All”) scaled pop/adult airplay rankings. A little more color: “Orange” brings that hue to the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time. The previous best? Lemon Pipers’ “Jelly Jungle (Of Orange Marmalade)” hit No. 51 in 1968. In third place is another song on the current chart: Megan Moroney’s “Tennessee Orange” holds at its No. 58 high. (And to squeeze in an honorable mention, Oran ‘Juice’ Jones’ “The Rain” reached No. 9 in 1986.)

Re-entered the Billboard Top 30 a couple weeks ago at #27 (still at that position 30 weeks into its chart run) and now enters the Top 30 on Mediabase as well. Don't know how much higher this song will get, but I will say something about this song has clicked with me and now I am rooting for it a lot.

So I just heard this for the first time after hearing the Maggie Rogers feature, Dawns. For someone that doesn't love Country music I absolutely love this. Its much more in-line with Folk and singer-songwriter vibes than the stuff my friends that like country listen too.
