So. Freaking. EXCITED.
Lindeville was a wonderful side project/holdover, but I am READY for new Ashley McBryde at country radio. I really hope that she does well with this, carrying over some of the goodwill from the #1 Carly Pearce collabo.

This is really pretty and lyrically poignant, but idk it doesn't feel a radio single to me? It does pick up nicely as it goes into the 2nd verse and from that moment on, I quite enjoy the song, but the first verse just feels underbaked and lacking the punch for something I'd expect to be spun in high rotation on country radio. It definitely isn't blowing me away like "Dahlonega" and "Standards" both did, and coming off the hype of her #1 duet with Carly Pearce, I would've liked something a bit more instant and obvious for radio play to capitalize on that momentum. This doesn't sound like something that will be a bigger hit than "Standards," for instance. I'd LOVE to be proven wrong on that though and this to turn into a surprise smash. At any rate, it'll probably at least be a top 30 hit just based on lead single hype and the goodwill from the CP collab, and I'm sure the full album will be amazing as always once it drops and this'll likely be far from my favorite track on it. She deserves all the flowers and success.

I really love this. I hope it ends up being a significant hit for Ashley. I agree that it's not super radio-friendly, but there are a few songs (granted, by male artists) that I wouldn't consider radio-friendly that have gotten significant airplay lately, so hopefully this can succeed.
It sounds to me like what I imagine The Judds would sound like if they were making new music in this era.

Honestly she’s one of the artists to me that can push something not radio friendly to radio and it either connects or flounders. She kinda has a lane to her own.

When I heard this, I was a bit underwhelmed because I wasn't sure if this would be a radio smash, but this is off to an absolutely incredible start so I'm happy to be proven wrong. In week 2, it's already up to #41 on BB Country Airplay, and it hasn't even officially gone for adds yet. Radio seems to be head over heels for this one, and it's so refreshing to see a solo female song take off naturally and surprisingly in such a big way like this.

I am so excited it is taking off like this!
And just like every other solo female single with real interest in it, it will peak at BB #2 under Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Bailey Zimmerman, or some nobody with their debut single.

“Light On in the Kitchen” made me cry. It’s so beautiful. It’s definitely got a motherly vibe to it, and those types of songs are hitting me squarely in the heart right now. I’m SO excited that this is doing so well at radio, and I’m hoping the stars align for Ashley to score her first-ever solo #1. Meanwhile, “The Devil I Know” is SUCH a rocker!!! Between the two of these, I’m perched for the new album. Fingers crossed it comes soon!

Apparently that bedroom she's seen sitting in at the beginning is actually Ashley's real childhood bedroom in Waldron, Arkansas. And of course the cameo at the end is from her own mother, Martha.
