why does the opening post look messed up? Wheat must have tried to edit the post on April fool's Day which locked in all of the word filters that were active on that day

And while I'm here, I'll go ahead and post some extras. Only 44 this year, which is a lot easier on me than 2010's 86, but I'll go ahead and get the ball rolling now anyway. First, here are the 4 extras for 2009 that didn't make the top 40 proper. Prairie Dog Town - Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers Bruce Hornsby has a surprisingly extensive history on AAA, especially in the 90s and early 2000s. This track was his last charter and uh. It sounds very 2009.
Coal War - Joshua James Just some singer-songwriter folk. It's fine.
Border Reiver - Mark Knopfler Mark Knopfler is another legacy act who has a ton of AAA charters. Knopfler stuff is kinda hit or miss for me, but I do like this one, it's very Celtic.
Even If It Breaks Your Heart - Will Hoge Will Hoge is a singer-songwriter that's charted on AAA a few times, his biggest hits are from 2003. Not sure if we'll end up ranking them though since they didn't even go top 30. I like this one, kinda has a Tom Petty vibe.

Even If It Breaks Your Heart is a much larger hit for Eli Young Band on country radio (#1) and Hot 100 (#29) a few years later.

Here's some more extras! I Ain't Hiding - The Black Crowes Peak: #40 Weeks on chart: 1I used to hear this on 92ZEW a lot back home, always thought it was a pretty cool Black Crowes song, kinda post-punky and has a cool bass lick. Wouldn't expect something like this from them. People - Susan Tedeschi Peak: #40 Weeks on chart: 1Could have ranked 2 Susan Tedeschi songs (i.e. "could have ranked x amount of x artist songs" = I have nothing to say about this duplicate artist song) I Need to Know Where I Stand - Rhett Miller Peak: #40 Weeks on chart: 1The Old 97s frontman has a good few AAA charters we'll get to in older retro rankdowns. This one's okay. Long Gone - Chris Cornell Peak: #40 Weeks on chart: 1Huh. Well today I learned that Chris Cornell released a pop album in 2009. This track was co-written by Ryan Tedder and also has a remixed rock version that's a little better. Honestly would have liked to rank this, had no idea this existed lol. Track 7 of this album features Justin Timberlake as well.

Top Yourself - The Raconteurs Peak: #40 Weeks on chart: 2
If you can't top yourself, how in the hell are you gonna top somebody else can I get an amen up in here
If Love Can't Find Find a Way - Eric Lindell Peak: #39 Weeks on chart: 1
Sounds like an extra from 2009 AAA radio.
Till You're Gone - The Gabe Dixon Band Peak: #40 Weeks on chart: 3
Also sounds like an extra from 2009 AAA radio, but I like it a bit more than the last one.
Listen to the Darkside - Charlie Mars Peak: #40 Weeks on chart: 3
Here's a Charlie Mars song. If you're wondering, Mary Louise Parker is not featured on the song, she's the actress in the music video.

A Whole Lot Better - Brendan Benson Peak: #39 Weeks on chart: 2
This singer-songwriter is a member of the Raconteurs! He has charted one other time on AAA with 2005's Cold Hands Warm Heart (#33 peak).
Fall for You - Secondhand Serenade Peak: #38 Weeks on chart: 1
This was a #21 hit on the Hot 100 in 2009. Don't love the song, but this would've been fun to rank.
Frozen Fear - Gov't Mule Peak: #38 Weeks on chart: 2
I used to hear this southern rock band on the radio all the time back home, so I guess I'm a bit surprised they don't have as strong a presence on AAA as I had thought (I'm not sure if we'll ever rank them here). This song's okay.
(You Should Be) Double [Gratified] - Mike Doughty Peak: #38 Weeks on chart: 2
We'll surely be ranking some of Mike Doughty's bigger hits throughout the 2000s in AAA rankdowns...hopefully they're better than this one.
Home Thing - Freddy Jones Band Peak: #38 Weeks on chart: 2
This band was really big on AAA in the mid-90s (and even had a little bit of Active crossover as well). There was an 11 year gap between their last charter and this one, and this is also their last appearance. Cool song though, I've always kinda liked this group.

Today's been a bit messy for me, so I don't think I'll start reveals until tomorrow evening. For now though, I'll go ahead and post a pre-game poll:
Rankdown placements 1. What will make the top 10? #1? 2. What will make bottom 10? #1? 3. Highest SD? 4. Lowest SD?
Artist placements 5. Which Adele song will place higher: Chasing Pavements or Right As Rain? 6. Which Ben Harper (and Relentless7) song will place higher: Fly One Time or Shimmer & Shine? 7. Which Bruce Springsteen song will place higher: My Lucky Day or Working on a Dream? 8. Which Coldplay song will place higher: Life in Technicolor II or Lovers in Japan? 9. Which Dave Matthews Band song will place higher: Funny the Way It Is or Why I Am? 10. Which Death Cab for Cutie song will place higher: Little Bribes or No Sunlight? 11. Which Eric Hutchinsong (?) will place higher: OK It's Alright with Me or Rock & Roll? 12. Which Erin McCarley song will place higher: Love Save the Empty or Pitter Pat? 13. Which Green Day song will place higher: 21 Guns or Know Your Enemy? 14. Which James Morrison song will place higher: Nothing Ever Hurt Like You or Precious Love? 15. Which Kings of Leon song will place higher: Sex on Fire or Use Somebody? 16. Which Needtobreathe song will place higher: Something Beautiful or Washed by the Water? 17. Which Ray LaMontagne song will place higher: Let It Be Me or You Are the Best Thing? 18. Which Ryan Adams (& the Cardinals) song will place higher: Fix It or Magick? 19. Which Serena Ryder song will place higher: All for Love or Little Bit of Red? 20. Which Fray song will place higher: Never Say Never or You Found Me? 21. Which Killers song will place higher: Human or Spaceman? 22. Which U2 song will place highest: Get on Your Boots, I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight, or Magnificent?
Personal RD questions 23. How far do you expect your #1 to go? 24. How far do you expect your #100 to go? 25. How high did you place your favorite discovery?

I'll try giving these a go:
Artist placements 5. Which Adele song will place higher: Chasing Pavements or Right As Rain? Both were good but I expect Chasing Pavements to be higher
6. Which Ben Harper (and Relentless7) song will place higher: Fly One Time or Shimmer & Shine? Don't really care either way but Shimmer & Shine had more going for it
7. Which Bruce Springsteen song will place higher: My Lucky Day or Working on a Dream? Working on a Dream most likely
8. Which Coldplay song will place higher: Life in Technicolor II or Lovers in Japan? Life in Technicolor II though I wouldn't mind being wrong
9. Which Dave Matthews Band song will place higher: Funny the Way It Is or Why I Am? Hopefully Funny the Way It Is
10. Which Death Cab for Cutie song will place higher: Little Bribes or No Sunlight? Probably Little Bribes though I'd prefer it be No Sunlight
11. Which Eric Hutchinsong (?) will place higher: OK It's Alright with Me or Rock & Roll? Rock & Roll
12. Which Erin McCarley song will place higher: Love Save the Empty or Pitter Pat? I really liked both fairly equally but I'll say Love Save the Empty
13. Which Green Day song will place higher: 21 Guns or Know Your Enemy? Hopefully neither lasts too long but I'd rather Know Your Enemy stays longer
14. Which James Morrison song will place higher: Nothing Ever Hurt Like You or Precious Love? Better be Nothing Ever Hurt Like You
15. Which Kings of Leon song will place higher: Sex on Fire or Use Somebody? This could go either way but I'd like to see Sex on Fire higher
16. Which Needtobreathe song will place higher: Something Beautiful or Washed by the Water? Wasn't a fan of either but I'll go with Something Beautiful
17. Which Ray LaMontagne song will place higher: Let It Be Me or You Are the Best Thing? You are the Best Thing most likely
18. Which Ryan Adams (& the Cardinals) song will place higher: Fix It or Magick? Fix It
19. Which Serena Ryder song will place higher: All for Love or Little Bit of Red? Little Bit of Red was a nice discovery so hopefully that one
20. Which Fray song will place higher: Never Say Never or You Found Me? Hopefully Never Say Never though I could be wrong
21. Which Killers song will place higher: Human or Spaceman? Another toss up but I'd prefer Spaceman to be higher
22. Which U2 song will place highest: Get on Your Boots, I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight, or Magnificent? It'd better by Magnificent by a mile
Personal RD questions 23. How far do you expect your #1 to go? I highly doubt it'll make the top 10 but top 20 would be pretty nice
24. How far do you expect your #100 to go? Hopefully as close to #100 as possible
25. How high did you place your favorite discovery? #1

This songβs alt performance wasnβt great, but...this is still quite a step down lol. I do like King Without a Crown quite a bit more than this one, at least.
