It felt like Pitter Pat and Love Save the Empty were pretty close for most of the run, so I’m a bit surprised this one finished so much higher. Good showing all around for Erin, and I am excited to rank her biggest (and I think best) single next year.

{STREAM NEW JESSIE WARE}#60: Well, at least this puts a timer on the other one... #59: I relistened to this earlier today, and, honestly, I might have underranked it. I would still put the other Ryan Adams song higher, but it's probably not "bottom 25". #58: "Leave the Lights On" was better, yeah, but I thought this was fine. #57: More of this, less of his other boring AAA fare, thank you. #56: Not exactly one of Dylan's strongest piece of lyrics, and his music has very rarely been strong enough to overcome lesser lyrics. #55: Surprised by how well this held up, to be honest. Might actually be one of DMB's best. #54: This was alright, I suppose. #53: At the rate we've been ranking some songs lately, I am genuinely looking forward to seeing the reception to "Boston" when it (inevitably) shows up. #52: This is not the pop crossover that needed to go. #51: But this is! I have a bit of a soft spot for "Over My Head" and "How to Save a Life", but that's where my soft spot with The Fray ends. This is fucking boring. #50: What an odd song to have such a high SD. He's done better. #49: Yeah, no, Susan should have lost the battle of the Band...though I'm not shocked this is the order. #48: This probably only made the top half because of the Pretenders name, but it's okay. #47: "Pollen – 66" This has probably surprised me more than anything else I've seen so far, I thought this would be right up James' alley. Huh. #46: "Nothing Too Much Just Out of Sight" clears. #45: This has always been my favorite song of this era for the Boss, but it's still not close to his peak from this time period. I'm patiently waiting for 2007 to roll around. #44: "Yeah, no, Susan should have lost the battle of the Band" This was fine, just unmemorable. #43: Man, what is this doing missing the top 40? I'll say it: If this had Adele's name on it, it would not be this low. #42: "I’d be 100% okay if I never heard this song again." To be honest, same. #41: To be perfectly honest, it's entirely possible that I underranked this, too. I don't know how much higher I could have gone with this, but top 40 seems reasonable, at least.

EXTRAS: Boom - AnjulieThis was oozing sex appeal. LIke a slower "Livin' The Vida Loca" vibe. Or was it the MV. Eiether way I liked it. Easy top 50 for this list. Johnny Magic - Neil YoungKnown to many as the father of Grunge. That's as nice as I can get. Blow Away - A Fine FrenzyNot completely blown away, but it was poppy and lots of Country fun. Tear Down the Walls - Davy Knowles & Back Door SlamThat's some band name. Cool blues rock type jam song. Vocals are good so I would have upgraded it by at least 10 points. Stand Up Comedy - U2Much better than whatver they have released this last few years. The verses have a Red Hot Chili Peppers vibe. I like that. Maybe top 50 for me. l et's see how many popular HOt AC songs we can get rid of tonight. 60. Never Say Never - The FrayThis one was kinda sappy, but still had "Jon" Fray vocals which I kinda liked back than. The chorus was reminding me of another Saftysuit song. Not my favorite Fray song. Those will be tanked in future RDs. 59. Magick - Ryan Adam & the CardinalsExchange Ryan's vocals For Bono's and you have a song that sounded like what U2 was on that year, so yes I dig it. 58. Boys with Girlfriends - MeikoHad its moments. Just enough Porock vibe to pull me in. 57. Shimmer & Shine - Ben Harper & Relentless7There were a couple of songs on this list. Not bad nor good, but those that I just couldn't wait for it to finish. 56. Beyond Here Lies Nothin’ - Bob DylanI tried with to keep this one drowning in the tank, but found ten songs with worse vocals. 55. Funny the Way It Is - Dave Matthews BandThis was every where back in the day. I gotta admit that's why I eneded up giving it in to it. It's alright to visit it once in a blue moon. First HOT AC that gets the shaft tonight 54. Pitter-Pat - Erin McCarleyJust a wee bit too tame for me. Pleasant vocals tho. 53. I Still Ain’t Over You - AugustanaFor some reason Augutina sounded like Eric Hutchinson. I didn't get the joke nor did I appreciate it either. The Augustina song is a jam. 52. The Man Who Can’t Be Moved - The ScriptOh man where to begin...Sometimes some of you freak me out with those low ranks. How can this not be the best song ever to serenade the woman or man you love? You do it Nicolas Cage in "Valley Girl" style and you play this till your love interest gets home. Either they come out or they call the cops. At least you know where you stand? Add to the fact that Danny pretty much sounds like an Angel here. Still one of my favorite Script songs ever. 51. You Found Me - The FrayAnother pretty great one. Fallen a little from grace for me through the years, but that chorus is still the highlight. The man has vocal range. I can safley say the Top 50 is maimed now.
50. You Are the Best Thing - Ray LaMontagneNot a fan of thing guy's vocals style in any song, but it seems this might be some of you all preferred serenading vibe? 49. Down in the Flood - The Derek Trucks BandStill Doesn't make up for The Script, but I'll take another of my bottom tens showing up tonight. 48. Love’s a Mystery - PretendersOdd music vibe for Pretenders. Pitty boost because I really like Chrissie's vocals. 47. Nothing Ever Hurt Like You - James MorrisonReally dug this guy's music style here. Surprised he isn't a bigger star? 46. Sing the Changes - The FiremanGReat vocals, cool band name, but the song sounded like 2020's U2. 45. My Lucky Day - Bruce SpringsteenNot a very lucky day for Bruce after all. The vocals and Heartland vibe were strong, but the forgettable factor was even stronger. 44. True - Susan TedeschiMore female songs that just didn't get my heart pumping. It happens. 43. Nothing but a Miracle - Diane BirchProof I do tank female songs besides Tracey Chapman. 42. Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked - Cage the ElephantI've always hated this song for this band. sounded like a Beck track with a limp. 41. Love, Save the Empty - Erin McCarleyWay better than that Tippy toe song or whatver it was? Didn't this one chart on some HOT AC chart. I feel like I heard it a few times back then? Maybe VH-1? and the unexplained hard-on for Adele's songs continues....really making me work to clear that tank guys.

Got Nuffin - Spoon Peak: #37 Weeks on Chart: 3
This rankdown could have benefitted from a little Spoon.
I'm Outta Time - Oasis Peak: #36 Weeks on Chart: 2
This is a pretty decent Oasis track, but Falling Down from the same album is like, the best Oasis song.
Her Morning Elegance - Oren Lavie Peak: #35 Weeks on Chart: 2
Seems this music video went semi-viral in like 2010? Song kinda fucks too, actually, I like this.
The Future's Nothing New - The Alternate Routes Peak: #36 Weeks on Chart: 5
This song's...kinda cool, I don't really like the like, Creep guitar crunch/door closing sound effect (?) throughout the song though. Looks like we'll rank a song by this band in 2007 though.
Ain't Gonna Lose You - Brett Dennen Peak: #35 Weeks on Chart: 4
Well, the public demanded it, so I'm happy to oblige--here's another Brett Dennen song from 2009.

I wouldn’t say I’m a big fan of Paolo Nutini generally, but this one is quite nice, glad it was able to outperform Let Me Down Easy. His biggest hits are still ahead of us though.
