If you told me in 2009 that in 2024 there would be a possibility that a performance of “The Day We Fell Apart” will be televised nationally, I would not have believed you. But that is my take away from this performance today, omg.

I love that she's doing deep cuts! And I mean, "Not Today" is truly a deep cut. I remember getting that track as part of the deluxe edition on iTunes lol.

I also love that she's doing deep cuts, especially from MD, but man I really wish she would do Dirty Little Secret. One of my favs.

OMG, I’m just shocked that she won’t do anything to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Breakaway this year at Fan Q&A from Kelly Originals.

OMG, I’m just shocked that she won’t do anything to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Breakaway this year at Fan Q&A from Kelly Originals. It's disappointing she had no idea but not surprising. I think her true focus is the tv show. How she talks about touring and performing her own songs, makes me think she misses it but how does one actually tour when the other job is 9-5? Sometimes it's hard being a Kelly fan.

Well, hopefully RCA at least represses the album on vinyl even if Kelly isn't involved in doing anything special for the anniversary.

Based on the general public's reaction to her music, it was a brilliant move for her to pivot to TV. If it was just music, we would get a handful of performances and interviews every few years with each album release and not much more. Much rather see her for an hour and get a song 5 days a week.

I know she wasn't ready to release Chemistry sooner but I fear it will become a norm for her to take years (4+) to release a new album. I hope that doesn't become the case.

In a perfect world, she would focus on music for June/July/August (album release, residency/tour, etc.) and focus on the TV show from September-May. But I don't see her ever truly doing that. Girl deserves her family time in Montana too.

Yeah I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it a hundred more times. There are few fan groups so often as spoiled and short sighted as Kelly Clarkson fans. Some seem to live in a world where if she wasn’t tied down to a TV show, she’d be touring stadiums around the world, or releasing double Kelly’s Version re-records every six months alongside new studio albums every other. Kelly’s recording career was never Beyoncé’s or Taylor Swift’s. She was much more akin to Fergie or Nelly Furtado. If their career now is what you’d prefer for her, so you can get a festival or theatre venue performance slot every five years, in place of the multi-media domination, residencies, daily dose of live music (including new versions of 15 year old bonus tracks!) the kind most other fanbases could only fever dream of…then, sure. On that note, she was quite rightly was named American Idol’s best/most successful contestant by Billboard today.

I quite agree with you that Kelly will never be in the same vein as Beyonce or Taylor. Hell, even during the Breakaway era (her peak) she wasn't as big as either of them are now tbh. Having said that, I do think there's a middle ground somewhere. I don't think it's as cut and dry as, "you are either Taylor Swift or you're Fergie" relative to music. If the talk show never happened, she would be doing just fine living off of residuals, touring (Meaning of Life tour is her highest grossing tour to date), and modest sales. (MoL didn't do awful in sales...but it's hard to say how much of an impact the talk show had on chemistry's sales figures.) With or without the talk show, Kelly Clarkson is certainly a bigger name in pop music than Fergie or Nelly Furtado, even in 2024. I would put her more in line with someone like P!nk or Christina Aguilera tbh. An example of a missed opportunity. Given she'll be in Europe this summer for the Olympics, she really should be doing a few shows over there before or after the ceremony. Not too many...maybe like 2-3 shows a la NYE, Super Bowl or AC. It would at least be something for European fans to look forward to. When was the last time she played over there, Piece by Piece tour?

Echoing the love for "Haunted" and I would also like to show some support for its predecessor in the tracklist, "Judas". I remember it finished very low in the rankdown, so my opinion is pretty unpopular. My December is definitely one of my top 2/3 favorite KC records.

I agree on the missed Europe opportunity. jasonhalbert: GERMANY! *cough* Piece by Piece tour dates were cancelled in Europe because of her pregnancy. The last time she toured in 'EuRoPe' was in 2012 with the Stronger Tour. She only did concerts in the UK and Ireland.

UGH If I had a podcast (like Las Cultristas) I would be like Matt was about Ready, only about Haunted and I'd know that it's not a "happy" song... Haunted is just untouchable and the story is way too relatable...

It would at least be something for European fans to look forward to. When was the last time she played over there, Piece by Piece tour? Agreed. I'm glad she switched to the tv show so she stays a bit more relevant. I'm thankful for all the songs she's done on her show. However I still wish there was a bigger focus on music. I really wish we had Kellyoke Vol. 2 by now. I'm surprised we don't. There are times I wonder what her career would look like without the tv show. I imagine Patty Griffin - releasing music she wants to, playing small venues. I've been a fan since the beginning. I've always been more focused on her music than how popular she is. Of course having a #1 songs don't hurt.

AMC IMAX will be screening NBC’s coverage of the Olympics opening ceremony live on July 26th. So if you’ve ever wanted to see Kelly on an IMAX screen, now is your chance.
