Didn’t realize Snow Patrol name dropped Sufjan Stevens in this song till I relistened to it here. It was like being flashbanged.

Ending this set with a top 10 and the wrong Snow Patrol song first :/
The Coldplay and KT Tunstall songs could also stand to leave soon imo

40. Boston - AugustanaNot my favorite song by tis band. Not by a long shot, but it till makes my top 30 cuz I really really like this guy's vocals. 39. This Is Us - Mark Knopfler & Emmylou HarrisI forget this isn't Dire Straits just Mark Knopfler, and Emmylou Harris. It's passable, but never expected this to rise this high. 38. Three More Days - Ray LaMontagneNot a fan of this guy's vocals at all. At least I didn't have to wait three more days for this tanker to show up. 37. Hospital Food - David Gray One of the better songs I have heard from him. Still at the same level as actual hospital food though. 36. King Without a Castle - Chris Isaak Surprisingly I have been enjoying these first time listens from Chris way more than that pop hit he had. I wanna recall "Wicked Game"? 35. Holding Me Down - Toby Lightman One of my favorite First time listens. Also my favorite female sung song from this list. 34. How to Save a Life - The FrayMan this song has not aged well with me. I actually this back in the day. What was I thinking? 33. Tell Me Baby - Red Hot Chili Peppers Yeah. My Top 10 was stacked. I had to sacrifice this one. Still a great sing a long tune. 32. Learning the Hard Way - Gin BlossomsGreat upbeat material from this band late in their career. Charted this one too ,and even gave it the same peak as I used in this RD. 31. Saving Grace - Tom PettyRock on from the heavens Tom. 30. Original of the Species - U2Positive I liked this better here than I have in past rank downs. 29. Don’t Wait - Dashboard ConfessionalI can definitely see myself giving a few Top 10 ranks to these guys if their songs show up on these AAA Rds. The last time this band graced my charts was in 2009 with "The Motions"www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8lVbcOpk1A28. Second Skin - Widespread Panic Also one of my favorite discoveries from this list. kept pushing it up until it hit my Top 40. 27. On an Island - David GilmourNever cared for this song one bit. I might have given it a slightly higher rank here than on Active? maybe? 26. For Us - Pete YornPete Yorn had a few cool chart hits. Good guitarworks. 25. Dani California - Red Hot Chili PeppersRed Hot Chili Peppers is not a PULSE hard-On band. 24. Upside Down - Jack JohnsonThis song was all over 91x that year. Not one of my favorites, but not entirely abysmal either. 23. Over My Head (Cable Car) - The FrayThis one still sounds good. The chorus still drives it home well, but it also misses my top 10 here. 22. What Can I Say - Brandi CarlileNot bad at all. Chorus has croon along potential. 21. Hands Open - Snow PatrolWell there you go guys. Unsurprisingly my favorite Snow Patrol song drops. Also my first top 5 loss. Comon' This rocks proper. Well I'm actually glad I wasn't the only rocking to Rock Kills Kid that year. Let's see how far we take it?

{TIRED WALL}#40: There's "Boston". God, this song is whiny as sin. #39: Much, much better than I was expecting from Mark Knopfler twenty years after his heyday, though I suppose the presence of Emmylou helped with that. #38: In a better AAA list, this probably wouldn't be in my top 40. That said, you could do worse for one of Ray's new best performers. #37: Still a few years away, but I'm excited to get to the "Babylon"/"Please Forgive Me" era. It can't come soon enough. #36: Perfectly acceptable Chris Isaak. #35: Remember when I talked about someone that I knew back in the day really liking Ingrid Michaelson? Well, this person also really liked Toby Lightman. At least with this song, I get the fascination a bit more. #34: Before we even get to the reveal...there's no way this is what I think it is, right? looks at reveal Okay, it's not. But this also makes sense as the highest SD. This song has steadily grown off of me over the years, especially the last couple, thanks to work radio. #33: Not looking forward to "Dani California" potentially challenging for top ten here, but this song is in a fine spot. #32: Another mid song from Gin Blossoms in a series of them, but it's one of their better mid songs, which surprised me. #31: This song missing the top half in Active, given the crap that permeated that RD, was and still is odd. #30: This is just as middling and as boring as much of their current millennium material, so why did it wind up doing a lot better than the other boring U2 songs? #29: To be perfectly honest, even as someone who thought this song was just okay, I still would have preferred it being one spot higher to best "Vindicated" outright. God, I've grown to not like "Vindicated" lol #28: What really struck me here was that never once did I feel like its 11 minute length was unjustified. It just keeps adding new wrinkles that add to the experience, and I tend to love long songs that never stay put. #27: You want to talk about Active 2006 robberies? This song not being top 40 there was a disgrace, and it's results like those that have me hoping that we eventually get around to re-doing more old rock chart rankdowns. #26: This stretch has kind of sucked, ngl #25: Oh, well, I can't say I was expecting this to be so low. For once, Razor's RHCP tanking powers were used for good. #24: This is basically about as unmid as Jack gets, so it makes sense as a new best performer for him. #23: This as their new best performer is fine. #22: Wow, okay, I thought this was a shoo-in for top ten here. #21: Of course this is the lower one. I mean, it's not a top tier Snow Patrol song, but it's certainly better than some of their other stuff. hint hint Ending this set with a top 10 and the wrong Snow Patrol song first :/ The Coldplay and KT Tunstall songs could also stand to leave soon imo This is more for "Talk" than anything else, but still

40. Boston - Augustana: Ooh okay, now this makes more sense to be my #15 as I do remember ranking this song quite high. This is a really nice and beautiful song and one that I always really enjoyed when it was out. I guess I am not too surprised seeing this have the 4th highest SD but I'm glad it made it to the Top 40 as it is quite divisive. 34. How to Save a Life - The Fray: LOL Danggg I was doing sooo good, or well at least my best showing here in the AAA rankdowns. I was really hoping that it wasn't my #1 that would be lost and show up and lo and hehold it is. :'( Darn super sad to see my #1 show up and miss the Top 30 entirely. :( This is probably the worst my #1 has done? But also lmao dangg this having the highest SD. I figured it would have a high SD but I didn't expect the highest, omg. Anywho, I get it. But I do love this song and it does move/gets to me sometimes... so no regrets. Yayy to Az Paynter, Renior and Leaf on also giving this high rankings! Although looking at the all over the place stats are hilarious. I'm also happy to see this being The Fray's best showing in their performance history as this is my favorite from them. 33. Tell Me Baby - Red Hot Chili Peppers: I ranked this at #64 and this was my lower ranked RHCP song so I'm pleased with this showing up first of their two songs here. Wow their Performance history is quite impressive. 31. Saving Grace - Tom Petty: Not one of my favorites from Tom Petty, but pleased to lose one of my lower ranks, which was my #97. 25. Dani California - Red Hot Chili Peppers: Oooh I wasn't expecting this to show up here as I thought this would have been a shoo in for the Top 20 but oh well. Dangg I ranked this at #26 so I was just one spot off from a perfect ranking. Darn, oh so close lol. This is a fun song from them though not one of my very favorites from them. 24. Upside Down - Jack Johnson: I normally don't care for Jack Johnson and find his music boring but this song was a real pleasant surprise for me. I really enjoyed this a lot, enough so to give it a #12 ranking. I thought this had a fun and joyous feel to it... and yeah great song. Glad this was his best showing in his performance history too. 23. Over My Head (Cable Car) - The Fray: Well, at least this The Fray song did better and I guess I am not too surprised about that? This was a great debut single from them (or breakthrough?).... but yeah this is another song I really enjoyed a lot from them. So much so that I ranked it at #8. I do wish HTSAL ranked higher but oh well. Also wow if not for the #94 ranking, this would have had no rankings in the bottom 30. :o

They totally killed it when I saw them open for Goo Goo Dolls earlier this week. Love and Memories (and their other songs) sounded so much better in concert with all their talented musicians.

"love and memories" would've been very high for me (possibly my highest aaa exclusive, pending any discoveries) had I done this, so I'm glad to see it in the top 20

Last couple sets of extras for now--will reveal the top 20 tomorrow! Off the Record - My Morning Jacket Peak: #31 Weeks on chart: 5
Pretty classic MMJ song--thought this charted a lot better than it actually did.
Gramercy Park Hotel - Edwin McCain Peak: #33 Weeks on chart: 7
No relation to the Deadsy song.
The River - Live Peak: #33 Weeks on chart: 6
Odd to see a Live song in 2006 charting only on AAA.
Out Loud - Mindy Smith Peak: #33 Weeks on chart: 7
Mindy Smith's a bit of a one-hit wonder act, Come to Jesus was pretty big on HAC and AAA in 2004. This is her only other top 40 hit on the format.
Different When It Comes to You - Bruce Cockburn Peak: #33 Weeks on chart: 6
Another folksy legacy act from the 80s that AAA quite liked back in its earlier years. Had 5 top 30 hits on the format across the late 90s and early 2000s.

Am I Reaching You Now - Train Peak: #31 Weeks on chart: 6
More Train.
Tears, Tears and More Tears - Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint Peak: #32 Weeks on chart: 6
We saw Allen Toussaint earlier in the extras for this year--here he is again performing with Elvis Costello a rendition of a song he wrote in 1970 for Lee Dorsey.
World Wide Suicide - Pearl Jam Peak: #29 Weeks on chart: 5
Already ranked this one a couple times.
People Gonna Talk - James Hunter Peak: #35 Weeks on chart: 11
Kind of a traditional pop/blue-eyed soul track here. Pretty decent. There's some Van Morrison connection here too.
H Gang - Donald Fagen Peak: #31 Weeks on chart: 8
Steely Dan singer's only appearance as a solo act on AAA, though we will rank a few singles from Steely's early 2000s output.
Who Did You Think I Was - The John Butler Mayer Trio Peak: #28 Weeks on chart: 5
And finally, just missing the year-end top 100 is this song by the elusive John Mayer Trio? Kinda garagey, decent guitar track here. Would've rather ranked this over WOTWTC.

Wow my year-end closeness improved a lot - I remember being towards the bottom but now I'm 4th there. :o Ooh and now 3 points behind the next lowest on Rankdown closeness. At least my score is improving a bit lol. Hmm it feels kinda surprising that there are only 3 Bottom 10 rankings of this Top 20. :o Also kinda good for me on only having 2 Bottom 10 rankings. And 5 Top 10 rankings of the Top 20 is also good for me too, lol. But wow it's impressive how 5 people have all of their Top 10 songs remaining. :o OMG I didn't realize my #99 is still in. LMAO I forgot what that was but I'm so gonna get hated and rashed on once that gets revealed, lmao. Looking forward to how the Top 20 will go.

Had never heard of this Coldplay song, much less knew that it was a top 20 AAA hit while not touching alt. It’s pretty solid though.
