I hope this one doesn’t miss the top. His best single in a while! (Fast Car was great but I’m talking only his originals)

This missing #1 on BB would certainly be highly unfortunate. He really took a nice risk in releasing such a vivid storytelling song to radio in a time where most of his contemporaries are just dropping generic fluff. It deserves!

This has been number one on the small market Musicrow Breakout chart for six weeks now so at least it is getting it’s time at number one somewhere.

I really hope that this can make it to the top of the Billboard chart as well.

It's not getting #1 on Billboard tomorrow and honestly I blame Sony as it feels like they jumped the gun way too soon to push this for #1 as this had way too huge of a gap to overcome. Oh and it is probably gonna peak at #3 on Billboard behind both Nate Smith and Warren Zeiders.
Just why? This song was young enough at 18 weeks, I'd like to think this could have waited the other songs out.

It is so unfortunate that this will miss #1 on Billboard.
This song must’ve gotten poor callout scores or Luke is releasing something brand new very soon so they rushed this one to a MB-only #1 peak.

So so frustrating- even if there is a new song coming out they could have still pushed this for a couple more weeks to get a #1 on Billboard. If it does peak at 3 he will end his top 2 streak as well. On the plus side this will likely be top 5 on HCS and it will be a 20th consecutive #1 at radio.

Post Malone is teasing a collaboration with Luke, so I wonder if that’s going to radio as the first single to Posty’s country album hence the reason they’re maxing WTWTA early?

This is one of his best singles if not his best single. It’s a crime that this one will be MB only.
Also a crime that they never did a music video. I feel like this could’ve had a stellar one.

I forgot about this not even having a music video! Ugh, what a missed opportunity. I know those rarely matter anymore for these huge stars, but of all songs to go big for it, this was that moment!

Luke Combs did not release any story-based music video in this album era for some reason. Fast Car I can see why, but this and Love You Anyway deserve one.

It’s feels too soon to move onto another era already. Gettin’ Old is full of more songs with hit potential.

Kind of baffled that they pushed this one already. It probably could’ve waited out Nate Smith and Cody Johnson. Not sure what Sony was thinking here.

As noticed in Country Aircheck weekly, Luke Combs is the first artist to be part of two consecutive No.1s on Mediabase since Willie Nelson’s version of Always On My Mind was followed by his duet with Waylon Jennings, Just To Satisfy You, on May 14th, 1982. Also he is teasing something in his fanclub email, with more info next Monday.

Part of me is bummed and confused at this missing the top of the charts, but there's a part of me that kinda loves that they attempted to push this to #1 in only week 19, it came up well short (peaking at #3 on BB), and now it's falling down the chart and they're gonna be moving on quicker. Like I would've obviously loved to see this hit the top because it's a great track, but it's also refreshing to see this approach of "Luke is a major format star, who cares if we wait around for another month to get this to #1? He doesn't need it at this point." His streak got broken by "The Kind of Love We Make" so there's really nothing he stands to benefit from them pumping it up to the top. It doesn't really change anything for someone of his stature and 90% of the public won't even realize this was technically his lowest-peaking single to date. Too many songs clog up chart space and make it to #1 and then are forgotten, but this doesn't really apply to Luke here and that's great. "Wild Things" was a success and did its thing, excited to see what comes next.

Or possibly just a beachy theme for his next era

I know the radio run is finished in both the US and Canada but I just want to share that this made to #50 on Billboard's Tiktok top 50 this week, so turns out there's a reason of recent streaming gains. If only this would happen sooner...
