I got way too behind to comment but enjoyed seeing how it played out, even if most songs I hated were in the top 10 lol

I just can't stand Foo Fighters aside from like, a couple songs. Their vocals and melodies have never been for me. Cool that most people here liked this song tho- everyone had "Under You" in their top 50, but me of course lol.

I didn't think this year was particularly good song wise... but I did find several new tunes to jam to. Thanks for hosting wheatsquares33 !

Thanks for hosting, wheatsquares33. This was actually my first time participating in one of these.

"The Perfume of Decay" was a great discovery; glad it finished pretty well. And "Under You" was my favorite (radio) single from the Foo Fighters since 2011, so I'm not at all disappointed by its win, predictable though it might have been.

40. Safe & Sound - Point North & The Ghost Inside
Sounds like another poor man's Linkin Park. I can't stand the soft intros in these type of songs..

39. Black Rhino - Royal Bliss
This one goes hard and melodic. Love that intro and what a killer midbreak solo.

38. Cut the Line - Papa Roach f/ Beartooth
This is alright. The parts I like are stronger than the parts I don't.

37. Black Sheep - Dorothy
LOL! Dorothy isn't Halestorm. First off Dorothy is more melodic. Dorothy Martin and Lzzy Hale sound nothing like each other. Halestorm is more 2000s Post Grunge inspired while Dorothy is more Blues rock leaning on 80's stadium rock anthemic style, but I get it. Most of the new indie pop guys sound to me like they same guy from the other band that sang in that other band....you know how it goes. Next I'll see someone say they can't tell female K- Pop singers apart. Rant over. This is a spectacular Hard Rock jam. It's perfect anthemic, Stadium Rock, and it's a jam for all of us people. The kind where everyone can shout along to.

36. You Don’t Know What Love Means - Nothing More
This band has been getting better and better for me since they first charted. I'll probably put "If It Doesn't Hurt" in my next year's top 10.

35. One of Those Days - Ozzy Osbourne f/ Eric Clapton
Ozzy is always gonna end up high on these RDs. This one rides some great sounding 70's classic metal vibes.

34. Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) - Daughtry f/ Lzzy Hale
Nothing can touch Journey's original, but it's cool to hear a proper cover of an 80's classic.

33. Riptide - Beartooth
Not really a fan of this band. In other news I'm charting them for the first time with their latest single "I Was Alive".

32. A Thousand Shades - Ozzy Osbourne f/ Jeff Beck
A superb 80's Metal Powerballad. Like mentioned before. I can't recall enough of it to sing in the shower, but it's pretty epic when listed to in real time.

31. Werewolf - Motionless in White
I prefer this band to go harder. It's melodic, and vocals are always great . I'll give it that.

30. Lost - Bring Me the Horizon
Parts of it just sound ridiculous to me. better than most songs on the list for melody alone, but I wouldn't search it out for listening pleasure.

29. Beyond - Corey Taylor
Still waiting for Corey to team up with his good pals Steel Panther, but I like that he is rocking hard these days.

28. Too Far Gone? - Metallica
Metallica Rocks! 'nuff said.

27. Black Thunder - The Hu f/ Serj Tankian & Daniel Laskiewicz
I didn't like this half as much as I liked the other one. It didn't work for me Vocally one bit.

26. Everything - Sevendust
same reason. never cared for Seven Dust. Vocally nor musically.

25. Dial Tone - Catch Your Breath
Not one aspect of this song did anything for me.

24. Holiday - Alter Bridge
Not the best year for them, but always great vocals ,and strong guitars won me over.

23. Blood in the Water - Ayron Jones
Up until now I have only liked "Supercharged" for it's heavy Lenny Kravitz feel. This song here is just kinda boring.

22. Lux Æterna - Metallica
This here is my favorite Metallica Jam from this album era. It's fast ,take no prisoners, metal ,and doesn't let up for a second.

21. Waiting on the Sky to Change - Starset & Breaking Benjamin
I blame Starset for my low rank. They added that atmospheric rock vibe that I really cannot stand.

I feel my last bottom tank dweller will drop once we enter the top 5

20. Nobody Wants to Die - Rival Sons
Usually not my thing, but this is harder than other songs I've heard from them. I think the rev ups in the video helped me like it even more. In fact I'm sure of it.

19. Kill or Be Killed - Muse
For from their "Reapers" best, but at least they are in the right direction once again.

18. The Death of Peace of Mind - Bad Omens
Cool. sooner than I thought. This guy's vocals tones are not the manliest I've heard. LOL! them chicks Dancing to this on TIKTOK are either deaf or secretly listening to Ratt's "Round and Round" on those tiny earphones people use now a days, cuz this stuff ain't danceable.

17. 72 Seasons - Metallica
I ranked this one higher, but it isn't my favorite, but it does offer a lot more guitar wise. Thus making it more fiercer in the end.

16. More - The Warning
At least one female fronted band made the top 20. I dig their songs. They are kinda like hard Rock meets Grunge.

15. Spillways - Ghost f/ Joe Elliott
Epic. It ain't "Rats" but damn it rocks 80's proper. To all those who couldn't tell the difference between Tobias and Joe go get you ears checked. Also the wrong Ghost song out first.

14. The Dirt I’m Buried In - Avatar
Easily my favorite song from AVATAR so far. So music fierceness and groove in the guitars. This will probably be the first ,and last time I rank them at #1, but this one will always be a hell of a ride.

13. Lost - Linkin Park
Not a big fan of old Linkin Park even if they try to make it new.

12. Without Me - Dayseeker
Melody wise it wasn't half bad. Sounded like that Weeknd guy ,and a tad too poppy among these other songs ,so vocal wise you can only guess how I feel. I'm pretty surprised it ends up this high on the list.

11. Becoming - Volbeat
Volbeat is cool. One of the few bands I don't need to be melodic to entice me. I think it is his vocals that tie the ribbon.




10. Jesus He Knows Me - Ghost
Never cared for the original, but I think Ghost adds that much needed 80's Rock vibe the song deserves.

9. Never Ending Moment - Des Rocs
Couldn't help ranking this in my top 10. had some amazing Guitarsworks, killer hook, and at times felt like The Who.

8. Fog Machine - White Reaper
How did I not chart this Powerpop monster. Must of confused it with that other song they charted last year. Anyway those who follow my weekly chart will notice this song making it appearance very soon.

7. Rescued - Foo Fighters
No surprise I put this band in my top 10, but they have been toning it down a little since the days of "Rope".

6. The Perfume of Decay - Tigercub
This is the song I found to be the most unique ,and interesting on the list, and yet still fierce enough in the guitars to ride up my list. Also love this guy's vocals, but that best aspect for me is the guitars in between the verse lines. Excited to see what's next for them.

5. Holiday - Turnstile
Strong song on either of my rock formats.

4. Just Pretend - Bad Omens
Slightly more tolerable ,and less annoying than their other songs, but i still can't picture any beautiful girls dancing to this. 

3. Another Celebration at the End of the World - Mammoth WVH
I really haven't been impressed with any one of this guy's songs. His songs just don't have any character to them. This sounds like simple hard rock anyone could perform.

2. Love from the Other Side - Fall Out Boy
Good song, but I didn't get this big of a hard-on for their return.

1. Under You - Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters are great at what they do. Rock out. That's what this song does, but I don't think it was the best choice for a #1. Especially when they have had better songs on the past.

Thanks for hosting. Rediscovered a couple songs I will chart and maybe a couple more depending on listens. I ended up in the middle of year end closeness. That might be a new high for me. Third to last in Rankdown closeness means Im still a proud "Black Sheep" though.

In perfect fashion I accidentally tanked 90% of the Top 10. FML why is my taste in rock so polarizing lol.

I was REALLY rooting for "Just Pretend" to snag the top spot but alas... I'm happy with top 5. Bad Omens have become one of my favorites.

Dayseeker reaching #12 brings me immense joy. I love that they're finally taking off and getting the recognition they rightfully deserve after so many years busting their balls.

I have yet to find a single Mammoth WVH song I dislike. LBTrocks what the FUCK is this #88 ranking you fool.

very content with this winner! Love is definitely a better showing for Fall Out Boy however it wouldn’t have been my favorite winner. Even if it’s a more basic winner, I’m really glad Under You won as it’s one of my favorites on this list! True banger

I can’t think of a single Mammoth WVH song I *do* like lol. So not my style. I can’t hear this song in my head, but I do know I hate everything I ranked in my 80s lol.

I’m surprised you didn’t drag me when “Deep End” was revealed. It was a no brainer for me for last place lol. I hate I Prevail like 95% of the time and the song is a shining example why.

Although it’s kinda nice we have these polar opposite thoughts on some songs to demonstrate that we actually are two different people

It was a Sirius Octane/Music Choice-only thing. Similar to how the Spiritbox remix of "Cobra" by Megan Thee Stallion will be a new and active extra in 2024.
