While this may not be the ideal winner imo, I'm happy for this song for finally getting the #1 after being stuck with #2 several times. Also this getting all top 30s is wild! Congrats Gates, Rowell, Carno, Leo, AI, and Rep! 1

I didn’t do this but I’m glad that Ghosts Again finally won a Rankdown. Great song.
I love how the worst closeness is only 23, that’s pretty good and pretty low for a worst closeness, means that no one really did extremely too bad.

really happy with the winner this time around, Not Strong Enough didn't grow on me since Alt and it would've been pretty unfortunate to see Depeche Mode finish second again especially when it was by far my favourite in this top 5 lol. Thanks so much wrip for the smooth hosting! 💙

NSE is a really good showcase of the unique way the trio's voices can work together, and it has the kind of songwriting that evokes nostalgic feelings even from the first time you listen to it.
Ghosts Again is a remarkable return to form and it only gets better and more affecting every play. No one makes synthpop like Depeche Mode.
Thanks Wrip for hosting!

20. The National - Tropic Morning NewsI like the music. Is that an 80's Drum Machine? Not complaining. Good chorus. 19. Jamila Woods f/ duendita - Tiny GardenHer vocals were not too bad, but I didn't care for the 90's style percussion. 18. Blur - The NarcissistLittle boost from me as well. I really wish they would have released "Barbaric" as the first single instead. 17. Bully f/ Soccer Mommy - Lose YouIt's alright. Never was really into the 90's out of tune guitarworks. Still not into them. 16. Allison Ponthier - Hollywood Forever CemeteryLove this song. One of the very few AAA only charting songs that cruised on over to my 80's sounding weekly charts. Just like "Psychos" this one also had a cool Pop Country like style. I also love the eerie vibe it gives off. 15. Foo Fighters - RescuedNot my #1,#2 nor #3. Awesome rocker, but other songs are more qualified. 14. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - When We Were CloseWhat a Rockin' Hook. reminds me of 100's of 80's Album rock classics. All it needed was some whoa's whoas in between chorus and hook. 13. Phoenix f/ Ezra Koenig - TonightCouldn't resist putting both Phoenix songs in my top 10. 12. Arlo Parks - WeightlessNormally I'm not an Arlo fan. Her vocals are ok, but you gotta know the reason I ranked this in top 50 was for that 80's funk melody trying to bust out of the song. A Jesse Johnson Review song came to mind, but it was all Cameo "Candy" 11. Arlo Parks - DevotionAm I warming up to Arlo? idk..but I dug her R&B melodies. I didn't know she had a real band? That's a big thing for me, and to top it off she plays guitar. 10. Sam Fender - Spit of YouI wasn't too impressed with this one. It didn't have the charm of say "Seventeen Going Under" or "Getting Started"9. Steve Lacy - Bad HabitPleasant sounding song, but I didn't fid anything especially enticing about his vocals. 8. beabadoobee - The Perfect Pair This one sounded a lot better to me among this list of songs. Especially the guitar solo that closes the song. 7. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - BurningSame thing with this one. Sounds better here than there. 6. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - WolfI also preferred this one to "Burning". Much more unique in instruments ,and composition....and vocals, but it was the synth progression that won me over. 5. The Last Dinner Party - Nothing MattersThis band rocks. I love Abigail Morris vocal highs. I looked her up cuz I was really impressed. Love this first release, and it will probably always remain my favorite from them. If you listen to some of their other songs they have some distinct 70's Heavy Metal vibes running through their veins. Those who ranked it lower than #15 probably based it on "and I will hug you like nothing matters". Talk about taking the piss out of a chorus. Was it so hard to substitute the word "love" for F U C K? 4. Chris Stapleton - White Horse I still don't get the musical hard-on peeps get for this guy, but I gotta admit this Rocks proper. 3. Paramore - This is Whybarely missed my Top 10 on Alt so it is easily a top 10 on this list. 2. boygenius - Not Strong EnoughI predicted this would win on the Alt RD. I probably would have put money on it. 1. Depeche Mode - Ghosts Again can't say I'm too too surprised here. It is a great song. Still not sure how this is considered AAA vibe, but F U C K it. Great winner. wrip . Thanks for hosting. Looks like you got done in time for Friday Night after all.

1. Depeche Mode - Ghosts Again Still not sure how this is considered AAA vibe, but F U C K it. The same way stations play New Order and Tears for Fears. In fact, with the current alt climate, this probably fits AAA more, considering most 70s-90s bands on alt now get most of their airplay at AAA now. Furthermore, the format has leant more indie over the years and has moved a bit away from the singer-songwriter vibe the format was built upon, while still present, in recent years.

lol Ghosts Again finally takes it. From my perspective, across the two rankdown doing communities I'm in, it took six tries for it to win, and tbh that tenacity deserves a crown. Plus, it is a great song.
Thanks a lot Wrip for hosting!
