I personally think cutting from the vipers/empaths lyric in the bridge right to “there’s a lot of people in town” is a seamless transition when I’ve tested it out and shaves off the bulk of what needs to be chopped for radio. You can lose 15 secs or so at the end pretty easily as well.

I would like to see this get a big 3rd single push (no point sleeping on ICDIWABH for 2nd) with a huge production tongue-in-cheek video and I think it could be a moment in the era. I definitely think there’s a hit here.

Yes, I’ve been meaning to mention this as well. It is very older Taylor country-pop in its production, but with a modern take on her lyrics she probably would have never written back then. I think it’s another good reason for it being a single since country pop is hot right now.

I like this song quite a bit, but prefer the original version out last year by the same writer, Matt Berninger with “New Order T-Shirt”.

Still so odd that song was the worst performer from the first four singles of 1989 given it was one of the most hyped.

It has the weakest video of all the singles, and if I remember right Blank Space was still huge at the time, so I'm not too surprised - although I was definitely dissapointed at the time!
