Carrie Underwood still might come close. The album is #1. Is that a big enough lead with a lack of a huge pop single? Maybe, maybe not.
I don't see Christina Aguilera being there. The album has modest sales and she only had 1 top 10 hit (this year)

If this is purely sales related and hot 100 related I don't see PCD taking it home, although it is similar to airplay. If it was airplay it would be PCD, they lead this year in total airplay on Pop. Sean Paul's airplay is not at all great compared to PCD but I can see his preformances on sales from hot 100 being better than PCD.

I can see PCD, Nickelback, or Rascal Flatts as contenders for Artist Of The Year.
I dont know about Carrie because her singles havent performed well on The Hot 100, but she is definitely a "nominee". She might win for Female AOTY. But, I wonder how Mary J's BWY and sales of The Breakthrough will do.

^^ok..I forgot HOT100 = R&B/Hip-Hop = BB's Artist of the Year. correct?? I can't believe I failed this math. Well, it equals everything Hot 100 = Pop, Rhythmic, Country, R&B, UAC, HAC, AC, Modern Rock, Mainstream Rock, Latin, etc and Sales.

50 Cent had massive singles. "How We Do" went Top 5, "Hate It Or Love It" went Top 3, "Disco Inferno" went Top 3, "Candy Shop" was a #1 hit for 9 weeks, "Just A Lil Bit" went Top 3. lol. So yeah, he did pretty well single-wise. And, his album sold 4.8 million copies.

Just judging by sales and Hot 100 performance only, the winner looks like it would be Nickelback... I have no idea how they skew things though... is it 50-50, 75-25, 25-75 or some other combination of them or is there a formula???
Since I really never look at the Hot 100 though, I honestly couldn't tell you what else did well there... However, I do know the Nickelback and Carrie showings there due to the threads here for their singles...

Carrie will get top selling album but Rascal Flatts will likely get Country Artist with over 4 million in total album sales and great airplay as well with a 5 week #1.

Doesn't Billboard go strictly by sales? If so there's a clear winner for artist of the year. And it's not PCD... it's HSM or Carrie.... They go by Billboard 200 and Hot 100. I don't know the exact formula. Also remember that when there is a guest artist on a song (like Snoop Dogg on "Buttons"), the artists split the points.

I think Artist of the Year will be between Rascal Flatts and Nickelback, with Nickelback being the the likely winner (can't believe I have to say that).

I hope PARIS is nominated for something. =P I pray to God she does. She really deserves something. It's very rarely to see an album that has no fillers, and she worked hard for it. I personally think it should win for "best album of the year". Hopefully, the judges won't be biased and the decisions will be based on the album and music only.

Well, the Billboard Awards are based strictly on sales and airplay performance. Stars Are Blind did okay, but probably not well enough to be nominated

Paris probably won't get nominated for anything with one minor hit and an album that didn't sell. No bias against her...if the album had been huge, Billboard would nominate her for everything.

apparently so. even i love paris' cd, but i wouldn't put it close to best album.
there are some catchy tunes on it though. and if Stars Are Blind had been bigger it could be nominated.

Yeah, I liked the cd, but declaring it album of the year and talking about how hard she worked for it? Catchy as it is, she basically sat back and let the producers and songwriters do everything
