How many noms did Kelly Clarkson get last year? 3 (John Shanks got a nom for Producer of the year) he worked on her album, so a nom for him is a nom fr her too right? Even though she had nothing to do with the production process, it's still 3! Right? Same with song? huh Mikers?

Can someone explain to me why Mary J Blige is credited with 8 nominations but Carrie only gets 2 because it makes no sense.

Nope. A nomination for the producer is for the producer. It's like a Best Song nomination isn't for the singer. It's a songwriters-only award. If the singer wrote it, then they receive the award as the songwriter and not the singer.

Because Carrie isn't credited as the songwriter. All of the "Song of the Year" awards are for the songwriter.

Carrie did not write "Jesus Take The Wheel". All of the "Song" awards go the songwriters.

MJB is a veteran act and well respected in her genre. She had a great year and has been snubbed big time in the past.

So did Mary J Blige write the songs? Shows what I know. I'm not a fan. These are the writers for "Be Without You": Johnta Austin, Mary J. Blige, Bryan-Michael Cox & Jason Perry These are the writers for "Jesus Take The Wheel": Brett James, Hillary Lindsey & Gordie Sampson Those folks get an award if either song wins.

Thoughts...
Album of the Year - Thank the lord the Dixie Chicks got nominated. Nothing too suprising but I'm pissed off that Justin got in here over Beyonce/Christina. Not deserving IMO. Winner will and should be The Dixie Chicks
Record of the Year - Pissed about James Blunt! Happy for the Dixie Chicks but I wish Christina would've got in here. This is between Dixie Chicks and Gnarls Barkley.
Song of the Year - Congrats to Carrie who shocked the hell out of me. 4 repeats fro ROY?? Good luck to the Dixie Chicks
BNA - NO KT TUNSTALL?! ARE YOU KIDDING????? CHRIS BROWN OVER KT TUNSTALL?! Corinne Bailey Rae will probably win this.

yeah so technically , carrie is up for 2 . but i'm sure carrie fans would be all bragging all 4 noms
there's no way xtina would be this year kelly. justin or john meyer will win pop album with vocal. her chance is on best female pop vocal , but natasha has a big chance since unwritten is a far bigger hit .. and they might want to award KT since she's not in BNA noms. chris brown over KT? seriously?
