A Return to the Boulevard... as post Grammy fallout hits the Hot 19 hard and Green Day benefits most; "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" reclaims the top while "American Idiot" receives it's highest peak since it debuted 4 months ago. Also, Gwen's "Rich Girl" holds on to the Greatest Gainer title for a 2nd week, while 3DG's "Home and Britney's "Do Somethin'" experience the most heat this week. Chart Notes This week, Mariah Carey's "It's Like That" spends it's fourth week at #1. This pushes her running total of weeks at #1 to 17 weeks. She is now ahead of Alicia Keys. If she can surpass Anita Baker's record 21 weeks, she will be the artist with the most total weeks at #1.
U2's "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" experiences a ten position jump to #2 this week from their incredible #12 debut last week. This is the second highest jump ever to the runner-up position. The record belongs to Sarah McLachlan whose #1 hit "Fallen" jumped to #2 from #18 in the song's second chart week in September 2003.

COMMENTS
The Killers return to #1 this week, making a total of 3 weeks. That's the 2nd-longest running of my chart year, which starts is mid-December. The longest is the 4-week #1 run of Blake Shelton's "Some Beach", which occurred in December/January.
Heck of a move for Green Day. After seeing the album win a couple Grammy's, I thought I'd give some of these songs an extra listen, and that's all it took for me to fall in love with BOBD. A song that looked like a placeholder just last week is now one that looks to be heading to the top. For the record, the 25-10 jump for BOBD is the biggest jump in the history of my chart. The previous record was 13 spots, which was the 22-9 jump for Vanessa Carlton's "White Houses" last October.
Next week, Green Day could make another big jump in the Top 10. The Killers could tie Blake's mark. Songs may debut. Songs may not. Tune in next time, folks, and have a great week!

Fallen off this week: 10-14-OFF (2) Cande Jay "If I Were You" (10)
Notes: Stonebridge knocks LAB off the number one spot. Will Tiesto nudge into the #1 spot next week… The Benassi Bros., who brought us the classic “Satisfaction” in 2003 have 2 debuts this week with “No Matter What You Do” and “Make Me Feel”. Cande Jay’s 2002 hit “If I Were You” falls off the chart this week. 3 more spots were added this week to make the total 18 tracks instead of 15. There were so many good songs I had to make the chart bigger. * Watch for William Hawk “Sunrise”

Commentary: After about 4 months of extreme inflation and not being into enough current songs to fulfill 40 positions, my chart is finally competitive in all regions right now due in part to the Spring surge of new music. Most of the 7 songs that debuted this week have potential to go far, and for once there's mulitple songs that I love that are really desrving of #1 (Mariah and Rob Thomas both have #1 in their future, just a matter of when). Snoop Dogg's "Signs" and Green Day's "Holiday" should debut next week to add to the mix.

Country Connection Top 20Week February 21st - February 27th 2005 TW LW WOC "Title", Artist Peak Position 1 1 4 Don't!, Shania Twain 1 <#1 for 4 weeks> 2 2 4 I May Hate Myself In The Morning, Lee Ann Womack 2 3 4 4 My Give A Damn's Busted, Jo Dee Messina 2 4 8 4 He Gets That From Me, Reba McEntire 4 <Greatest Gainer> 5 7 4 Don't Worry 'Bout A Thing, SheDAISY 56 3 4 Nothin' To Lose, Josh Gracin 3 7 5 4 Nothin' 'Bout Love Makes Sense, LeAnn Rimes 5 8 9 4 Restless, Alison Krauss and Union Station 89 8 4 I Think The World Needs A Drink, Terri Clark 8 10 10 4 Mud On The Tires, Brad Paisley 7 11 -- 1 Homewrecker, Gretchen Wilson 1112 13 3 It's Getting Better All The Time, Brooks and Dunn 12 13 14 2 Goodbye Time, Blake Shelton 1314 12 4 Tryin' To Find Atlantis, Jamie O'Neal 12 15 11 4 God's Will, Martina McBride 11 <Greatest Loser>16 -- 1 Mission Temple Fireworks Stand, Sawyer Brown 1617 18 2 Bumper of My S.U.V., Chely Wright 17 18 20 2 Tonight, Sara Evans 1819 -- 1 Honky Tonk U, Toby Keith 19 20 -- 1 Gone, Montgomery Gentry 20Bubbling Under TW "Title", Artist 1 If Heaven, Andy Griggs 2 Big Time, Big and Rich 3 Songs About Me, Trace Adkins 4 Monday Morning Church, Alan Jackson 5 Bless The Broken Road, Rascal Flatts News of Note: A hard week as several songs debut on the chart and the best of the best reign in the Top 10. Shania Twain holds strong against fierce competition. Lee Ann Womack holds steady at #2, with a bullet. Reba McEntire jumps into the Top 5 with "He Gets That From Me". "God's Will" isn't for Martina McBride to be #1, as she continues to be pushed down the chart by debuts this week. Speaking of debuts, there were 4 of them. Gretchen Wilson gets the top debut this week with the 4th single from her debut album, "Here For The Party, "Homewrecker". A weak debut for Toby Keith with "Honky Tonk U" and Montgomery Gentry hop onto the chart at #20 with "Gone". An unexpected debut, but a strong one nonetheless, "Mission Temple Fireworks Stand" by Sawyer Brown comes in at #16. Next week, the top spot could be up for grabs. Can Shania hold on? And a debut or two could rock the charts. Look for Keith and Wilson to make a good move next week. Keith Urban, "You're My Better Half", falls off the chart this week, as does Alan Jackson, "Monday Morning Church", and Trace Adkins, "Songs About Me". Jackson and Adkins move to the Bubbling Under chart. This week's Greatest Gainer is McEntire and the biggest loser is McBride. The song must be an official radio or video release, unless the artist is between albums and doesn't have a current single. When a song goes recurrent on Mediabase or drops out of the Top 40 on Billboard, it will drop off of this chart. The song doesn't have to be within the Top 40, however, to debut on the chart. There also is no fixed debut position: songs can debut anywhere on the chart. Bold indicate a bullet. Debuting songs appear in green.[/size]

Rachel Yamagata's Worn Me Down zips from #10 to #1, taking the top spot from Jimmy Eat World's Work after a two week stay. Vanessa Carlton's White Houses and Amerie's One Thing also have high debuts.

Despite the first traces of burnout starting to set in, "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is now in a 4-way tie for most weeks in the top 10 since 2002, with 20. The other three:
Michelle Branch, "All You Wanted" (finished #1 year-end for 2002) Evanescence, "Bring Me to Life" (finished #1 year-end for 2003) Lostprophets, "Last Train Home" (finished #2 year-end for 2004)
Now, a significant part of "BOBD"'s run came in the 2004 chart year, so it will be hard to finish #1 or #2 for 2005. But top 5 is still a good possibility.

Alright I gave this personal chart thing a try once before, then I kinda lost interest for a while, but now I'm giving it another shot. I sort of have been making personal charts for myself, unofficially, so it's not just like I pulled these songs out of my you-know-what.

NOTES:
Tim McGraw is the first country artist to make the chart with his song "Live Like You Were Dying" (Over and Over does not count, being that it wasn't really country-fused). Green Day is knocking at the door to take back #1, but 50 Cent is challenging them with 3 different songs, along with T.I. and Usher.
EDIT: I put two #19's, which I just fixed.

Hey y'all! Once again, those Kelowna Rockets are back in action, this time playing the Vancouver Giants live from Van City. Which essentially means that I have nothing to do for the next couple of hours... more or less just some button pushing. But hey, I love my job, so iz all gooood. There's a boy at the Subway who always goes out of his way to smile at me and make conversation, which is kinda weird given that I have NO IDEA WHO HE IS. He looks like someone I went to school with and might have had a crush on, but the fact that he graduated a year before me makes me doubt that... why take interest now? I mean, yes, I'm single and sexy, but he doesn't know that, does he? WAIT! He does know that I'm single... I've talked to his co-worker about that (she and I are friends). Hmmmm... interesting. 50 Cent makes his first appearance on Dan's Top 20 since 'In Da Club' back in the day. That's right... nothing else from Get Rich or Die Tryin' charted, and he didn't appear thanks to anybody else, like Lil' Kim (Magic Stick) or Eminem (Encore). So, congrats to Fitty for finally releasing something fantastic in "Candy Shop." Some CanCon hip-hop/R&B also debuts. And Ciara goes for week 2 at #1. Read on...
