Or teen pop after Britney, Christina, and the millions of boybands in the late 90's & early 2000's. Genre backlash happens fairly frquently, happened to disco back in the day too (and I can understand why). If you want to point a teen-pop backlash, I think the NKOTB one of the early 90s applies better to what we're talking about here. In regards to this latest teen-pop craze, a fairly decent number of those acts are still having a dacent-to-great career, and it was not like many of them became some sort of running joke or something (apart from Britney because of her recent antics; we could even be talking about Jessica Simpson because of simply being herself , but it wouldn't be fair, since she's still having a music career of her own). I just hope some of Brit's fans won't be throwing hissy fits at me because of what I just said. About the disco backlash: everyone knows the motives behind that were not strictly - if ever they were - about the music or the over-exposure of the music.
