If a similar thread already exists, I am not aware of it. As people all over the net constantly are in search of the music used as a "jingle" in current commercials and we are a popular music forum that holds the capacity to provide such information, I feel obliged to start this thread. Want to know what song that is in the latest iTunes ad? The Verizon commercial? Target? etc? Ask here. Likewise, if you would like to input by sharing what you already know, by all means do. Here are some people commonly ask about (current ads): The Latest iTunes ad - The Fratellis - Flathead Core 2 Duo ad - New Young Pony Club - Ice Cream ("I can give you what you want...") L'Oreal Hair Ads - Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To & Goldfrapp - Fly Me Away (the latter also used in the Target holiday ads) Current & 2006 "psychedelic" Target ad - Max Frost & The Troopers - Shape of Things To Come (it took me forever to get this straight...I knew the Slade & Fuzztones' versions, but never could find the original). Latest Dell Computer ad- 13th Floor Elevators - You're Gonna Miss MeLong running Royal Carribean ad: Iggy Pop - Lust for Life I think most people know this by now ("Here comes Johnny/Zen again..."). In many ways, this was the watershed moment that started the trend of using unconventional yet "classic" punk and protopunk in ads. Mitsubishi SUV Ad: - The Fall - Blindness ("I was walking down the street...") A huge wtf? on Mark E. Smith's behalf. Mercury Car ads: Morningwood - Nth Degree ("Uh-oh, here we go, turn up your radio, come on everybody, to the nth degree...") Also used in an AE ad last year. Cingular ad: - Persephone's Bees - City of Love (Also, "Nice Day" is used in JCPenny ads; "Hammock" in Hilton Hotel ads). Korbel (Champagne) ad: Bitter:Sweet - The Mating Game (also featured many times on Grey's Anatomy). Others: The Zombies' "Time of the Season" is used in retirement fund ads. They still use the Transplants' "Diamonds & Guns" in the Garnier ads. I'll do some more later. By the way, I have mp3s available of all the above mentioned tracks, so if anyone need them, holler...

"Lust For Life" was also used for a car commercial a few years. It's also used as the theme song for sports talk show host Jim Rome's show.

I was just thinking about songs played in commercials because I heard two recently that caught my attention. 1. "Blister in the Sun" by Violent Femmes in a Burger King commercial. Thank God the lyrics aren't played. 2. "Modern Way" by the Kaiser Chiefs, but I don't know what it's promoting. Anyone see it?

For one of the Target ads, they use Goldfrapp's "Fly Me Away."
And for that Geico commercial with the caveman on the conveyor belt in the airport, that song is "Remind Me" by Royksopp.

Anyone know the track used for the Christmas Nick at Nite commercials last December?

Madness - "It Must Be Love". Used in a Levi's commercial recently.
Beatles - "Hello Goodbye". Covered by somebody and used in Target commercials.
Human League - "Don't You Want Me". Covered by somebody and used in a commercial with cartoon cookies driving around in a car. It's for Chips Ahoy, maybe... in which case, they should've gone with The Hold Steady.

I am so getting that Goldfrapp song! I love that Target ad! It's funny, because it's generally considered the weakest track on the album. (The album is stellar). But I'm glad it's gotten them some much-needed US exposure.

Correction: "Blister in the Sun" is on a Wendy's commercial. I was shocked.
And then the Ramones had "Blitzkrieg Bop" on many Go! phone commericals.

Agreed^ I actually like the track myself - it's just airy light & flutters along nicely...title appropriate, haha. It's funny...you hear better music in commercials than radio. Don't forget M.I.A.'s "Galang" Honda Ad! lmao! she & Diplo nearly broke up after that (in the end, it was the Brazilian strippers that did them in.)

Jewel's Intuition was used in some random razor commercial like four years ago.
Verizon use random pop songs - like Candyman or Arms Race.

What's the song in the AT&T commercial--the one that goes "All around the world, gotta spread the word"? It sounds like it could be from Oasis.
EDIT: I just found out this is Oasis, "All Around the World".

Eagles Of Death Metal's "I Want You So Hard (Boy's Bad News)" soundtracks a Volkswagen commercial specifically made for the Portuguese and Spanish markets.

EDIT: I just found out this is Oasis, "All Around the World". Thanks for that. I've always wondered if that was Oasis. I heard Jim Croce's "I've Got A Name" on a Fifth Third Bank commercial last night.

"woo hoo, woo hoo hoo.... woo hoo, woo hoo hoo..." Yeah, that's it. I didn't know the song was featured on Kill Bill, Vol. 1 until I rented the DVD. I'd been hearing the commercial for several years.
