I like it. It sounds almost as good as the Diane Warren penned "American Idol 2" exclusive "Shine"!

How dreary! Is Dianne Warren even trying anymore? It's 'We Can' by leann Rimes with different words.....

It's gross. The melody is repetitive as hell.

Hmmm she needs to lay off of the cigarettes.
This may grow on me, but right now it sounds like something that Ashlee Simpson would have recorded and the Geffen Records dude would have rejected.
And I see nothing vocally in here that really suggests she is a better singer than Hilary Duff or even Ashlee Simpson. I'm sure if she sang it live, she would sound just like how Ashlee Simpson sounded on the Tonight Show.

I like this song. I like her voice, I realized she had a good voice in Mean Girls.

It's gross. The melody is repetitive as hell. Has there ever been a Diane Warren song that you have liked? Just curious and no pun intended! :) Of course I love the song and don't see how this is "We Can" part two?? People are always looking for something more in Diane's songs.....I mean, she's not Bob Dylan. She writes about the things the average joe would say or feel.....for people looking for something deeper in music, it may not be for them......but for people looking to relate to music....Diane's songs are pefect.

Sorry, but this is boring. When Warren is good, she's very good, but she's been regurgitating her sound and her lyrics for years. Hasn't written a great song since 'Can't Fight The Moonlight'.

Which is her problem. Her lyrics are so cliche and generic. Her one strength used to be writing decent melodies, but she can't even manage that lately. Diane Warren songs I like (many which I like because the vocalist saves them, not because they're actually good songs): Reba McEntire - "I'll Be" Trisha Yearwood - "I'll Still Love You More" LeAnn Rimes - "Can't Fight The Moonlight" Cher - "If I Could Turn Back Time" Taylor Dayne - "Love Will Lead You Back" Milli Vanilli - "Blame It On The Rain" Trisha Yearwood - "How Do I Live" Whitney Houston - "I Learned From The Best"

On the day she turns eighteen it is reported that she has signed with Tommy Mottola. Coincidence? I am she the ethical Mr. Mottola will fit right in with Lindsey's white-collar convict dad and provide another father-like presence in her life.

"Don't think you can tell me what to think"
I got that far and I knew this song was crap. This is the worst Diane Warren song in awhile and that's saying a lot because she's been writing crap for a few years now.

I apperciate you taking the time to respond though. I was very interested to hear your list of favorite DW songs. (even though you might not really like the song itself LOL) The thing with "I Decide" that makes it brilliant is the lyrics. This is something any 15-19 year old female is feeling right now....It’s rebellious and Lindsay has the right personality to sell this song perfectly. Diane has always been great at casting the right artist for her songs and this is no exception.

A good songwriter wrties songs that fit certain artists speecifically. She wrote the song for Lindsay and the movie, the song deals with how a young teen girl is dealing with taking control over he rlife. It fits the movie perfectly as well as the artist. All of her songs have always repeated words and have a simple feel to them. "have u ever" "Can't Fight The Moonlight" "If I Could Turn Back Time" "Love Will Lead You Back" "How Do I Live" "I Learned From The Best" They all have repetative lyrics in them but thats just her style of wrirting. she gets one concept and holds on to it throughout the song.

I agree that the song is definitely written for a 17/18 year old and in that area, it's a great song for her.
Lindsay said that she writes her own songs too so it'll be interesting to see what her album is like...

I like this song. I like her voice, I realized she had a good voice in Mean Girls. Lindsay was also very good, singing the closing track in "Freaky Friday." I agree. The lyrics fit Lindsay's whole image and it targets teenagers. Perfect for "The Princess Diaries 2" and Radio Disney. I read in EW that Diane is writing more songs for Lindsay.

I know the comparisons with Hilary Duff are unavoidable; however I think Lindsay is a much better vocalist. Ironically, Diane has a song on the soundtrack to “A Cinderella Story.” It’s called “One In This World” and its performed by Hilary’s sister Haylie.

It's on the Princess Diaries 2 soundtrack, and Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" is the lead single from that, so i'm not sure that this will get released. I like it though, Lindsay's voice has improved from the stuff she did for some of her movies. This would probably get airplay solely due to name recognition, but without a push wouldn't do too well. She's said that she's going of more of a hip-hop/rock-type direction (yeah), so i'll be surprised if this song is on her album.

Believe it or not, I heard this song on Radio Disney this morning...lol...go figure!! I don't like it at all. Once again another teen girl who has no vocal talent. She is hot, but she shouldn't have a recording deal. At least with Hilary's debut song, it was somewhat catchy and pop stations ate it up, but this song has no potential. But I wasn't expecting too much from Ms. Lohan.

She has indeed signed with Tommy Mottola's label. LA Times confirmed it today.
