So, a random EP popped up on digital services two weeks ago called Freaky through Famous Records Corp, but copyrighted 2002 by Echo International. After sampling it, it looks to be some unreleased material and/or b-sides: 1. (Gonna Make You) Freaky originally released as "It's On Tonight" on her Let You Hit mixtape 2. Time to Freak first time hearing this song, title seems to be "Too Sexy" or "Mirror Mirror"? 3. Freak Like Me (Remix) (Re-Recorded) originally released as a b-side to her "Freak Like Me" single, featuring Inspector Rick 4. Stay Freaky originally leaked during her The Second Coming era as "Rough Ridin'" featuring Estevan

Sucks they cut her set by 25 minutes (when they could've cut that oldies but goodies DJ) but she sounded great on the 3 records she did. She's an underrated vocalist IMO.

FAIL @ Entertainment Weekly reporting that Adina HOWARD joined the upcoming cast of AHS when they meant Adina PORTER is returning. I was about to pass out.

I wonder if a lot of artists' sets got cut at Summer Breeze because of the hour delay. Some of them even had to wait for awhile after finishing a song for them to set/queue up the next track which was odd, like Ruff Endz (who ended doing a rally bit "We say 1-2-3, you say 4-5-6" etc) and Keith Sweat ("They're not ready yet, and they're cutting my time, but I'm gonna sing as long as I want!"). She sounded terrific as always, and I was happy to finally hear "Blasphemy" live with her vocals shining through.

She’s lined up a LOT of concerts this month, so be sure to try and catch her on tour: www.bandsintown.com/a/14976766Also, another short tour film Adina Howard: Resurrection Tour - Ohio is now available on Amazon Prime: Her Resurrection is currently off digital/streaming services because she got a new distribution deal. I hope that means we’ll be able to purchase physical copies soon! She just did an interview last weekend w/Tha Council Radio: www.blogtalkradio.com/thacouncil/2018/01/28/tha-council-radio-interviews-w-boogiie-byrd-adina-howard-They discuss her career like the history behind “T-Shirt & Panties” and her film roles. -Her next film The Relaxer will premiere at the 2018 SXSW Festival in March. -She’s in the works of co-writing a self-help book tentatively called “Adina Howard: Real Raw” with a therapist. -She gives advice to people starting out in the music industry (which is namely to get your “business side” in check). -She’s working on a new project with King Gas again for this year called Diary of a Desperate Housewife.

Adina Howard Interview: “Resurrection” Album| Thoughts on Cultural AppropriationTerrance: We spoke last year when you released your latest album Resurrection, since then what has the response been like?Adina Howard: It’s been doing very well and it’s getting a lot of good reviews and I’m very, very pleased with that. We tend to appreciate other people appreciating the hard work that we put into what we do, so I’ve been blessed with positive feedback. I’m excited where this project is going. Terrance: “Nasty” which samples your 1995 breakout hit “Freak Like Me” is the follow-up single to “Blasphemy”. What sparked the decision to make that the next single?Adina Howard: People have been asking about that and they can look forward to a visual and we’re in the process of doing that as well, so things are moving forward. Terrance: What are some of your favorite songs in your catalogue you enjoy performing?Adina Howard: “T-Shirt & Panties” is definitely one of my favorites. I enjoy performing “Blasphemy” off of the new album. The music that I enjoy performing and singing is more jazz and I haven’t really had the opportunity to showcase that yet, but that is definitely coming up, so out of my repertoire there’s not anything that I’m just in love with. There’s just songs I did that I felt they were appropriate for where I was in my life and for my listening audience. Terrance: What’s your stance on Bruno Mars allegedly being a cultural appropriator?Adina Howard: Before we as a people talk about cultural appropriation we need to check ourselves because that’s the pot calling the kettle metal as far as I’m concerned. You’re a black woman walking around here with blonde hair past your ass and blue contacts in your eyes then you can’t scream ‘cultural appropriation’. That to me doesn’t make any sense at all. If someone is appreciating what we’re bringing to the table as a culture and they adapt it then okay, but I’m a person like so what? Who cares? Why are you so focused on cultural appropriation when you need to be focusing on bettering our school and community and making sure our children are safer in our community. Making sure that we are inspiring and uplifting one another in our community. I personally think our perspective tends to be off because we’re focusing on things that are trivial. Things that are not going to help increase the safety of our community and uplift us economically, so like who cares? That’s just my thought. *laughs* Terrance: There’s also been talk of Best Buy discontinuing physical CD purchases. What’s your thought on that?Adina Howard: Well, technology is what it is. For me personally I’m not invested like that. I’ve seen different mediums disappear in my lifetime. There used to be 8-track tapes and now there are no longer 8-track tapes. There used to be cassette tapes and now there’s really none of those anymore. Now there are no CD’s and that’s the next thing to go because technology continues to evolve. Terrance: Update us with your upcoming special events and live shows.Adina Howard: I will be at the Funkfest in Jacksonville, FL on May 11th. I have a speaking engagement in Jacksonville as well the following day based on spirituality and sexuality. I will be in Cabo San Lucas the month of June. I’m going to be in Jamaica in October and then I will be on a LGBT cruise in October as well from the 14th through the 21st, so there’s quite a few things going on. Terrance: Lastly, what do you hope listeners take away from the Resurrection album?Adina Howard: I want them to take away having some really good music. Appreciating the work that went into it and just sharing it with everyone to let the world know that it’s available. I don’t do it for me. I do it for those who have asked for it and now they got it so now it’s time to spread the word.

This can’t be the first time she has sampled Freak Like Me Play-N-Skillz’s “Freaks” which featured Adina sampled it a couple years ago. Also, Pitbull had that single “FREE.K” which I believed sampled it (reusing her vocals).

I am a bit surprised it hasn’t been sampled in a more popular song but with this 90s resurgence going on, it may be only a matter of time.
