Norah Jones Gearing Up For Her Next Project LAUNCH Radio Networks Fri May 13,11:00 AM ET According to a message posted on Norah Jones's website, norahjones.com, the Grammy-winning singer is in the early stages of her next album. Jones and The Handsome Band have just completed an exhausting world tour and are taking a breather, but bandmember Lee Alexander posts that Jones has been "writing her butt off." Jones said that writing songs does not come easily: "Writing is really hard for me, and I haven't done it in a long time. I've only got a few songs, so it's something I really want to work on. But I really prefer the most simple song, the better. Those are my favorite songs. I mean, there's certainly all kinds of great songs. But what I feel really close to and what I feel like I could do the best -- if I ever get my act together and get better at it -- is simple stuff." Jones won three Grammys at this year's award ceremonies, one for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the track "Sunrise," off her sophomore album, Feels Like Home. The other two awards were for her work on the Ray Charles album Genius Loves Company. Jones' debut album, Come Away With Me, has sold over 10 million copies For some reason I am excited.

i got my mom her CD. and my mom gave it back to me because she didn't like it. so it was in my car. and three of my friends and i drove to the beach and partook in an illegal activity that involved inhallation and a plant used for medical pain management purposes.
ANYWAY my friend found the CD in the backseat, and we listened to the first three songs, and all i remember about "come away with me" is that it's the funniest album i've ever heard.
i'm pretty sure it's not that funny. but even thinking about it makes me laugh and i have no idea why.
just thought i'd share my fond memory of this CD. i really should email this to norah and let her know how her music moves me.

I don't think she's boring at all, but I can see why people would feel she is.
Probably declining sales with each album, the fact that her debut went diamond stills shocks me.

The most memarable experience I had with Come Away With Me was on my ride with my aunt to her house. I was wide awake and then she put the cd in and I was asleep by song 4.
I did like Sunrise though.

I love Norah. I very much enjoy her previous two albums, and I hope this one is just as good.
And personally, I do not feel Norah is boring, but I can understand why someone would think so.

Amazon plans Bob Dylan, Norah Jones concert
Online retailer to stream live concert on its homepage July 16
The Associated Press Updated: 6:44 p.m. ET June 15, 2005
SEATTLE - Amazon.com Inc. is planning a concert featuring music legend Bob Dylan and sultry songstress Norah Jones to celebrate its 10th anniversary next month.
The concert will be streamed live on the Internet retailer's home page the evening of July 16 β 10 years after Chairman and CEO Jeff Bezos officially launched the virtual bookstore.
Acerbic comedian Bill Maher will serve as host for the actual concert at Benaroya Hall. Maher, of HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher," is author of the upcoming book "New Rules: Polite Musings of a Timid Observer."
Amazon's Seattle-area employees will be invited to attend. Tickets will not be sold to the general public.
While no other names were disclosed, Amazon said the concert will feature additional musical performances, readings by authors and behind-the-scenes footage from "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," one of Amazon's hottest-selling DVDs.
The Seattle-based e-commerce juggernaut said musicians, authors and filmmakers were picked based on their popularity with Amazon customers over the past 10 years.
Bezos started Amazon.com out of his garage in 1994, at first offering only books. The company launched on the Internet a year later.
In 2004, it posted nearly $7 billion in revenue and its second profitable year selling everything from tools, makeup and gardening supplies to Maine lobsters, cameras and loose diamonds.

EMI is banking on Robbie Williams and Norah Jones being top sellers in the second half of its financial year, with a trading statement from the music giant out tomorrow expected to indicate a sharp drop in first-half sales. A strong schedule of releases from EMI in the second half of the year, including new albums from Williams and Jones. www.thisismoney.co.uk/investing-and-markets/article.html?in_article_id=413668&in_page_id=3--- I wish there was more info about the new album.

Billboard.com:
Better 'Late' Than Never: Norah Preps New CD November 06, 2006, 9:55 AM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Norah Jones will return Jan. 30 with her third studio album, "Not Too Late." The 13-track Blue Note set comprises songs all written or co-written by the artist. Production was handled by Jones' songwriting partner and bassist Lee Alexander; indie singer/songwriter M. Ward, Kronos Quartet cellist Jeff Ziegler and organist Larry Goldings make guest appearances.
"Not Too Late" is the follow-up to 2004's "Feels Like Home," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 4.3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Jones has kept a lower profile than usual in 2006, guesting on the self-titled Ipecac album from Mike Patton's Peeping Tom project and recording a collaborative album with New York-based musician friends as the Little Willies.
Here is the track list for "Not Too Late":
"Wish I Could" "Sinkin' Soon" "The Sun Doesn't Like You" "Until the End" "Not My Friend" "Thinkin' About You" "Broken" "My Dear Country" "Wake Me Up" "Be My Somebody "Little Room" "Rosie's Lullaby" "Not Too Lateβ

Norah Jones to release new CD in January
By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY, AP Music WriterMon Nov 6, 12:15 PM ET
Fans of Norah Jones will get a little more insight into the Grammy-winning singer when she releases her new album, "Not Too Late," in January: For the first time, she has written or co-written all the songs.
"I think it reflects more sides of my personality than my first two records did. It has different sides to it, it has a lot more variety to it," the 27-year-old singer said in a phone interview with The Associated Press on Friday.
Jones' first record, a mix of jazzy, folky tunes, 2002's "Come Away With Me," was a runaway success and sold more than 9 million records in the United States, fueled by the smoky tune "Don't Know Why," which she didn't write.
Her sophomore album, "Feels Like Home," featured more of Jones' songwriting talents. But "Not Too Late," due out Jan. 30, is the first time she has had a hand in all the songs.
"The main reason I didn't do it before is because I didn't have the songs!" Jones said with a laugh.
But she's been spending more time over the last few years working on songs.
"Songwriting was a newer thing for me in the past five, six years. I'm just excited that I have these songs. I'm really proud of them, I do feel they're a little different than the songs I wrote on my first two records," she said.
Jones said her new songs are a bit more intimate, with a bit of humor, but still retain the laid-back feel of her previous records.
"It has more of a playfulness to it," she said. "There's different elements we haven't used in the past, like horns."
She also has been experimenting with different styles of music; she's been spotted in a New York City club playing with a punk band, and Jones and her friends released an album comprised of mainly country covers such as The Little Willies earlier this year.
Jones' music hasn't been the only thing she's been working on lately. She also has a starring role in the upcoming film "My Blueberry Nights," with Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Rachel Weisz.
She said the movie was a welcome diversion: "I've been playing music since I was a little kid ... it's fun to do something different."
But while Jones said she'd love to do another film, she isn't planning to quit her day job.
"I'm not going to be making a bunch of movies," she said. "I don't consider myself a double threat or anything. It was a great opportunity ... something fun to try."
