"Abdul boldly goes where several others have gone before — but not lately"
that was a silly article.

Lots of work went into this release, I see, flipping the front and back imagery and all.
I got the first Greatest Hits.

Its amazing how quickly her recording career ended. Why did "head over heals" flop so badly? I think its her best album but the wrong singles were definately chosen.

I demand FYG be certified 8 PLATINUM. I think Spellbound is also due for a 4x platinum certification.

but i think My Love Is For Real was right were she should've been musically at that time. i think that radio and fans were just over her at that point. I liked quite a few tracks from Head Over Heels.... including the single that almost was/wasn't Aint Never Gonna Give You Up.

Spellbound has scanned around 3.2 million, so it may not be eligible for 4. But, FYG I'd say yeah. It was 7 platinum in the pre-SS era (I believe), and back then, certs weren't as accurate as they have been in the years that followed.

Paula came out with head over heels too late and at the time, the world was consumed by "grunge." Paula's pure pop was alienated

Yeah but unfortunately it's probably on the very bottom of Virgin's list of things to do lol is to re-cert Paula's albums.

Well "My Love is for real" always seemed like a copy of Janets "if" which came out 2 or 3 years eariler. I do lthink alot of the songs on that album did fit in with what was on the radio in 1995. One song had a strong Dallas Austin/TLC vibe that was very popular at the time.

Paula Abdul's First "Greatest Hits" Edition Sold 138,000 Copies. I Don't Understand Why Virgin Release It Again. From Billboard: There have long been rumors and rumblings of Paula Abdul recording a new album. However, her representative did not respond to our queries regarding her future music plans. Aside from her "Idol" judging gig, Abdul seems to have a pretty full plate. She created the new "Cardio Cheer" line of work out DVDs that are available via cardiocheer.com. She also has a line of jewelry (Innergy) and cheerleading clothing (Skirtz). Abdul has released five albums in the U.S. including the No. 1s "Forever Your Girl" and "Spellbound." The last was 2000's "Greatest Hits." The 16-track set includes 10 top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hits and six No. 1s. The Virgin album has sold 138,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. For January 31, 2006,

I totally agree, she had a very long break and that is the reason interest died down and times had changed by that time. I remember when "Straight Up" first came on the radio- it was such a cool song.
Funny, I saw a video for sale of Paula where she did a Jane Fonda type exercise video which was such the craze back then- of course hers was a 15 minute dance exercise.

She has that new reality show coming out soon, the exercise tape to, which might explain the new interest!

May 30, 8:38 PM EDT Paula Abdul Found Her Purpose on 'Idol'
NEW YORK (AP) -- Paula Abdul says she didn't figure out her purpose in life until she became a judge on Fox network's "American Idol." "I knew since I was a little girl that I had this profound way of touching people. My purpose is bringing out everybody's best and being that cheerleader to other people's success," the 44-year-old singer-dancer tells OK! magazine in its latest issue.
"Being a judge on `American Idol' overshadows being a Grammy Award winner and selling millions of records," she says.
Abdul has been diagnosed with reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), a chronic neurological disorder that causes severe pain.
"I have four titanium plates in my neck. I've had 14 surgeries over the years. I had an operation the same evening as the first season finale of `American Idol,'" she says. "It can come and go at any time, but I no longer have the intense nerve pain that is associated with RSD, thank God."
Abdul - who says she was hit by a drunk driver in 1987 and injured in an emergency plane landing in the early '90s - says she is treated with anti-inflammatory medications and has massage and acupuncture treatments for her pain.
"If I appear exhausted on television, it's because I am!" she says. "I have a lot of sleepless nights because I'm in so much pain. I was taking far more medication on earlier seasons (of `American Idol'), and nobody said anything. I try to say something and I stumble, and that's what people have picked up on. I'm not polished."
When asked how she responds to claims that her behavior during "Idol" is sometimes bizarre, Abdul replies:
"I'm sick of it. I've never been drunk. I don't do recreational drugs. It's defamation of character."
The choreographer and former Laker girl also says: "I'm a warrior. I'm not the best dancer, and I'm certainly not the best singer, but I am an entire package of a great performer."

i sort of understand when paula talks about her pain/medications she's been on. i knew someone with RSD and they could barely walk, it was just so painful. i remember hearing about paula's story a year or so ago, but i thought it was caused by a cheerleading accident. i thought she was dropped at some point.

U make no music so stick to your reality show and judge roles. I don't think a greatest hits will go anywhere for you paula.

Paula Abdul is spot-on for her arrival at NBC studios in New York City on Wednesday, where she stopped by the Today show to dish about her Bravo series Hey Paula and her new beau.
