Where do you think Robin will be placed? In that other R&B Album category or Pop?

Here's my prediction: If Ne-Yo can make it to Platinum by Grammy voting time late 2007/early 2008 he WILL WIN the Best Contemporary R&B Album Grammy with ease.
There are only 2 more months until we reach the Grammy cut-off period for releases and as of now with no blockbusters elgible for the award(Akon will be placed in Rap), voters will have to lean on other factors as they cast their ballots.
Statistically, the winner of this category CD went at least 2xp, but for 2007 1xp will have to do. In addition, Ne-Yo not only went to #1 for the well-reviewed BOY, he's the only contender(Fantasia, Ciara, R Kelly, Kelly Rowland, etc.) with the exception of Lloyd to yield a Top 10 hit this year and most importantly he'll most likely be the only repeat nominee--thereby snagging the award after unjustly being shut-out last year despite writing several hits for the industry.
Labelmate Rihanna is POP and I doubt Robin Thicke will be placed here and it looks like Chris Brown, with whom he split votes with last year, will struggle to make waves with his next album also. Remember you heard it here first! ;) I think Fantasia has a much better shot than Ne-Yo. His latest album is stale and it induces extreme boredom. Fantasia's WISU is also bigger than any NeYo single this era at R&B so that would give her the advantage. The reviews that Fantasia recieved for her latest album are also great and are far better than NeYo's album. I don't see how NeYo has a better shot at it than her. And even Ciara has a better shot at it. Her album is BY FAR the best selling and Promise is definitely the best R&B song to come out in the past year. Don't bet on NeYo. It won't happen. lol.

Are you serious, dude? Promise is a generic Prince-rip-off that won't win any Grammy. Ciara didn't even get nominated her for her first CD here and the general consensus is that her latest one is garbage. She barely went platinum and Neyo is only on the second single so he should be able to match her sales by Grammy time judging by the rate he's going. Fantasia's CD, although WISU went #1 on the R&B charts, has disasterous sales. Good album or not, no winner here has missed platinum sales. If she at least had Ciara's sales then I would view her as a formidable opponent, but Fantasia isn't even Gold after 8 months on the market. She's got some major catching up to do if she wants to win thsi one. If we went purely on reviews than Kelis would have won over Beyonce last year and Brandy would have won over Usher in 2005. Neyo got solid reviews, a #1 album and #2 POP single, and will get a lot of left-over good will from last year when he was nominated here since there is no R&B big seller to crown. Add in the fact that he's the most prolific songwriter in the game and that will win him the extra votes he needs to win. He's well liked in the industry and by November he'll likely score new hits for Mariah & Whitney(and probably Janet now that she's on Def Jam)--just before Grammy nominations.

Yea, he's selling pretty well. I know when he releases Go On Girl (will he release that?), it will pick up more momentum.

"Go On Girl" and "Make It Work" seem like the best single choices off the album right now. "Do You" came out of left field as a single option for me, LOL. "Crazy" just sounds so radio friendly to me as well. Maybe a 4th to counter his feature on Rihanna's "Hate That I Love You"?

I really like Ne-yo, and the songs he writes for others, but I found this album boring...

"Can We Chill" is not a good choice for a single.
And he should've gotten Keyshia Cole for the "Do You" remix instead of Mary.

His CD is selling better than I thought it would. It's not nearly as good as his debut CD.

He said that he's re-releasing the album in November with a new single. It better be a good single. I'm assuming that the song that people on writing on Yahoo will be included on this re-release as well?

I'm actually loving this album, much more than when it was released. His debut is better though.
