Love Myself is a great song, I love it! She's amazing! She addressed her entire situation (being MIA for damn near 10 years!!!) in one song. And not like on MTV Unplugged where we had no freaking idea what she was talking about. I hope this leads to a new album!

I thought she was working another album. And Love Myself gives me hope for that. It's a good song.

I just had to re-rave about this. I'm really loving this song right now. It's number one on my playlist. Is there any possibility of this going to radio?
She just sounds so happy, I think that's why I like it so much. It makes me happy to hear something warm from her after so long.

I like Lauryn's new song. She just needs to work on the production a little more. It sounds like it was thrown together really fast. Is this a preview of things to come? Any word on when exactly she might be coming out with a new album?

www.mtv.com/news/articles/1563151/20070621/hill_lauryn.jhtmlLauryn Hill Suits Up For Second LP After Breaking The Ice With Penguin Song Singer has lined up several dates — mostly festival gigs — around the globe this summer. By Shaheem Reid Given that the most positive thing Lauryn Hill's bandmates are saying about another potential Fugees reunion is "just keep praying," the chances seem slim that we'll see the trio of Wyclef Jean, Pras and Hill doing an album together again. With the 10-year anniversary of her solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, close to a year away, fans have questioned whether we would see her put out another album. But Sony Music, the label she is signed to, is still saying yes. Hill has acquired new management, and earlier this month, she even put out a new song called "Lose Myself" that was inspired in part by a dude named Big Z. No, not some new rapper — Z is a penguin in the film "Surf's Up." And the song isn't the first single from her album; it's a featured track on the soundtrack to the film. But, as her reps optimistically pointed out to MTV News, Hill has recently gone back into the studio with the goal of making a new LP. In all seriousness, they say. She theoretically has a library of unreleased material in the vault, since she has consistently recorded over the past decade (we just haven't heard anything yet). But the hip-hop star's camp says Hill has cooked up a batch of fresh new material and there will probably be some collaborations once the project is finally released. Hill has also signed up for several dates, mostly at festivals, around the globe this summer. Stops in Dubai, Turkey and the Netherlands are all on her list, and in the U.S., she has four dates scheduled, including a free concert August 6 in Brooklyn, New York, as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series. There's still no release date scheduled for the next Lauryn Hill project.

The years havent been really kind to her music, I mean seems she lost a bit of what she had back in 97 when Miseducation came out, in terms of live performances. Her shows in Brazil didnt live it up to the expectations, I mean, at least to me cause she now managed to switch THE WHOLE arranges of the songs and made some of them sound almost unrecognizable, like for example Doo Woop which is pretty much a classic, she just rap so differently through it that everyone was like 'C'mon Launry Just SING IT like u sang on the album' I mean, god bless the back up vocals cause if it wasnt for them, we would never really UNDERSTAND which song she was doing.
I dont like when acts change up their songs in such way, its almost like she was creating something new...

The Misadventures of Lauryn HillIt use to be easy to be a fan of Lauryn Hill, back when she was making some of the most important and successful albums of the ’90s and winning record numbers of Grammy Awards. It’s gotten much more difficult in recent years, as the diva has hidden herself from the public, appearing out just enough to still give Courtney Love a run for the money in the wacko pop star race. And it was darn near impossible to be a fan of Hill during her rare concert appearance on Wednesday night (June 27) at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland. How bad was this concert? Well, calling it a fiasco would be an insult to fiascos everywhere. It was bad enough to send 75 to 100 fans into the lobby only four songs into the set, all of them grumbling loudly and demanding refunds. Those were the smart ones _ the rest of us remained in our seats and watched what amounted to a two-hour train wreck. It was easy to sympathize with the disgruntled fans. It was also hard not to feel bad for the venue and promoter _ since they were presenting what they surely believed to be a still-professional act. The blame for this whole mess should fall squarely on the shoulders of Hill, who should really consider retiring at this point in what’s left of her career. The crowd had started to turn on Hill long before she took the stage _ nearly 2 1/2 hours after the showtime printed on tickets. Even with an opener, fans were forced to endure an hour of silence. Little did they know that was going to be the highlight of the night. Once Hill finally made her appearance, fronting a solid 14-piece band that deserved far better than this, things began to quickly unravel. She opened with a jammed-out, improvised number that featured almost no real lyrics and zapped whatever little wind remained in the crowd’s sails. The 32-year-old vocalist then turned to 1998’s landmark “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” _ a work that, amazingly, still stands as her most recent studio effort _ for a garbled version of “Lost Ones.” Her voice was terrible, so harsh, strained and unlike what one hears on the masterful “Miseducation” CD. She also sounded like she’s out of shape, huffing and puffing like a weekend warrior after only a few songs. But it wasn’t just her voice that was shaky. Hill stumbled about the stage and, at one point, actually fell flat on her back _ which brought into question exactly what the singer had been doing backstage during the long delay. Of course, Hill would find that question ludicrous. She blamed her stage fall on her high heels and, later in the show, took the time to assure the crowd that she was sober. Assuming she was telling the truth then that’s one less excuse Hill has for her terrible outing, which included shoddy and uninspired vocal performances on such formerly great “Miseducation” tunes as “To Zion” and “Final Hour.” The singer had somewhat better luck with the material from her old band, the Fugees. Her voice was brittle and weak on “How Many Mics,” but she finally started to get in the swing of things with “Fu-Gee-La” and “Ready or Not.” By that time, however, the once-capacity crowd had dwindled down to half a house. Those who left early missed Hill’s new song, “Lose Myself,” which is featured on the “Surf’s Up” soundtrack. It’s a pretty good tune, but the singer wrecked it in concert by stretching it out far beyond its recommended dosage. In all, Hill didn’t manage to provide one good reason why locals should remain in her fan camp. I’d like to tell you different, but that would clearly be a “miseducation” of the readers.

Wow. This makes me so sad. Just when it looked like she was getitng her shit together. What a shame...I think it's safe to say her career is pretty much dead...I think it's a pity because to me (back in 98/99) she was the next Madonna. She had everything going for her.

She's over. There are many displeased fans, not only from that show on 07/27, but from previous shows as well. I guess lately she has been unable give a good performance...

That was really sad to read and just confirmed to me that she is getting even worse after every concert. And me thinking her Rio concert was BAD, damn, this sound really a lot worse.
She lost it really. The other guys from The FUGEES said it right last week, she is in another sort of 'system', like in her very own world where she is living it up fantasticly but is just amazingly oposite to what the real world is about. She is really really crazy.
I wonder what she is on. I mean what sort of drugs or whatever cause damn, it's like really a shame to watch such a REAL talent at this. I mean, I look back at Sister Act2 and see her doing 'Joyful Joy' and now look at the pics from the post above and remember her voice on her current tour and I go like 'this can't be real', yet it is ...

I'm starting to wonder if it isn't drugs at all. A lot of the genius artists throughout history have just inexplicably gone insane.

I think it actually IS drugs that make artists go crazy. Sly Stone, Elvis, James Brown, the list is infinite...
What about the weight gain? Is it a recent development? And the clownesque make-up makes her look even more out of it.

When she speaks in interviews she sounds very intelligent, almost like a genius...but also extremely narcissistic...everything is about HER and HER pain...it's tiresome.
I can't believe she is a mother...I just can't imagine her caring for someone other than herself...and there was a report about her living alone in a Los Angeles apartment by herself for a period of time 6 months ago so...

July 30, 2007 From SCRATCH Magazine
WYCLEF: “Lauryn Is Straight Up The Problem”
Wyclef is coming clean about his issues with Lauryn Hill, and it’s not pretty.
The Miseducation songstress had been sued in the past (and lost) - for failing to give writing credit on her breakthrough solo album - and now her former bandmate is rubbing salt in her not fully healed wounds.
Wyclef was interviewed in the new issue of Scratch magazine.
This is what he had to say!
Scratch: What’s going on with the Fugees reunion, or lack there of? WYCLEF: I’m officially Paul McCartney from the Beatles now. If the Fugees wanna come back, and Lauryn wanna come back…you can’t break the format. Don’t come back and be like, “I wanna produce a beat.” That’s like me saying I wanna sing an R&B vocal. When we was working on the album, I was like, [to Lauryn], “You need to do this like this.” [And] she says, “How do you know what’s relevant? I haven’t heard anything from you in the past like three, four years?” The minute she said that I was like, I gotta go back to working.
So what’s ultimately holding you guys back? Lauryn is straight up the problem, bro. She wants to be a producer. Don’t come telling us how to chop up beats so you can get credit for it.
What makes you think she would take the credit? We did a remix [with] Lauryn for John Legend, for the record “How High.” John Legend was saying our names. You know what she had [him] do? She was like, “Take off Wyclef and Jerry’s names.” Because she wanted people to think that she was the one doing the beat…I’m a producer and I’m a beatmaker with my cousin Jerry Wonder, and I’m a writer. She’s a writer, a vocalist, [and] a great [vocal] composer. And she’s great at picking out samples—she got 20 billion samples but can’t chop ’em up to save her life.
So she hasn’t made any of the beats she got credit for? It’s real simple—if you did the beats, where are the beats? Show us one beat that you did. If you bring ’Clef to the studio, put an MP, put an SP, put a bunch of stuff, bring a bunch of cameras [and] say, “Clef, do a beat in two minutes.” The beat’s done! Bring Lauryn Hill in the studio with the same camera, say we give you three hours. Matter fact, @#%$ it, we’ll give you a month—do a beat. She can’t put it together!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does this mean that Lauryn Hill is actually a fraud and taking credit for something she didn't do? I hope not. It's sad that it's unlikely the Fugees will ever do another album together. Wyclef really hammers Lauryn in this interview. I don't know who or what to believe at this point.

That quote is hilarious. I can't believe Lauryn said that to him, isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?lol She hasn't done much or had hits over the past few years. Why would she say that to him, if indeed she really did say it?

Well, she sounds pretty sane, although she does look like a clown. I never like Wycleaf. I think he's a turd. But I guess I might be biased. And if he's gonna make claims like those about Legend's song, he should at least get the song title right. It's called "So High," not "How High."

Anyway it doesn't sound like a solo album is coming any time soon...that sucks...
