In a posting on her official message board Vanessa said, "will start work on new record in august. meanwhile i'm practicing the new ones at every show." She added that "i promise that this time around, everyone will know that i have an album out!"
So three tracks that are likely to make the album are already out in live mp3 format. Sadly I havn't been able to hear them.
I'm hoping unlike "Harmonium," this won't get pushed back multiple times and it'll be released by february.

Yeah, I remember reading this. I'm excited about it. She's one of the few decent female artists today. It's a shame about "Harmonium".

Yeah...she did decent for the promotion she got (which wasn't much), but it should have gotten loads of magazine reviews, then again maybe no one really pays attention to those.

Magazine reviews are always bad anyway, no matter what it is. Or so it seems... Yeah, I read somewhere that Stevie Nicks is producing this album. That'd be cool.

Can't wait, she is very natural and down to earth about everything, at least she admits that her album didn't do well at all unlike other artists.

This is exciting! I wonder why she is so confident about her next album.

Great news! It's a shame "White Houses" didn't do better. For the next LP, it's gonna be for her to top that song (quality-wise).

Good point, minusname. This is exciting! I wonder why she is so confident about her next album. From all I've been hearing about the 3 live songs that are floating around online, she's keeping pace with Harmonium's goodness. So maybe she thinks she's got a guaranteed hot first single...Plus I'm not certain, but I heard stuff about A&M being gone, so maybe she has a promising label now.

Wow, this is awesome news. I definitely hope this album makes some noise (both figuratively and literally); still bummed about "Harmonium" not doing better.

I hope Steven Jenkins isn't involved in this album.
He's cool and all, but I'd like to see her work with other people. I think she could really grow if she did.
I would LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to see her work with Jon Brion. That would be a dream come true.

Thanks! I tried to download them in the Harmonium post and they were expired. I hope Steven Jenkins isn't involved in this album. He's cool and all, but I'd like to see her work with other people. I think she could really grow if she did. I would LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to see her work with Jon Brion. That would be a dream come true. I think Stephan did okay. But someone in a post above said they heard Stevie Nicks was producing it...That'd be really cool!

Wouldn't it be cool if she and Michelle Branch did a duet? That's just my opinion. I hope no one hates me for saying that. lol.

I honestly think Vanessa is too good a musician for that I hope she sticks to people like Stevie Nicks. Anyways, it seems like she has written a lot of songs already and may even have an idea of which ones she wants on the cd. Hopefully the cd will be finished by the end of the year with promo and the release early next year.

Question...what the name of the song Pharrell played the drums on?

Yeah I think Michelle would be on the list of people I didn't want her to work with. I think it would end up being too much of a competition between two 20-something girls trying to fill the same niche than it would something musically interesting.
I think she should really switch things up and sing on the hook of a song with Common or Talib Kweli. It sounds weird but I think it could really work. Maybe...?

I wouldn't want Vanessa to collaborate with Michelle... that would seem a bit hackneyed, imo. Although I love them both.
I wouldn't mind if she collaborated with Stevie Nicks, Carole King, or maybe somebody unexpected.

I would be interested to hear something, but I think there is beef between them. Question...what the name of the song Pharrell played the drums on? Well, he's created in the CD booklet for backing vocals on "Who's To Say."

I wonder if anything from Harmonium will be on it. I want "Who's To Say" to be on the new album. I just feel like people need to hear what they missed.

Well if she did a dualdisc for her next release she could put the video for her first single in addition to some intimate performances of songs, including "Who's to Say", on there.
I don't realistically think she'd release the same song on two different albums.
