Out today in the US! For real this time... Yep! I bought one of the big supply of two copies out at FYE earlier. Excellent album. Hopefully it has enough buzz to sell reasonably well. A few stations have been airing the "Stop Me" video, so that should help.

Mark Ronson: Version By Adam Thomas A person whose taste in music is truly diverse is a rare find. Even more atypical is a person who has a knack to put together compilations that, while sundry, leave a sound connected to them. The London born, New York bred Mark Ronson is of that uncommon elk. The DJ turned producer has complied a tasteful collections of songs on Version (Columbia ) that avoids staleness and provides the listener with a magnificent music experience. The album starts off on its feet with a cover of Coldplay's “God Put A Smile Upon Your Face,” featuring The Daptone Horns. This rambunctious song keeps your head nodding with its pulsing cadence provided by the Horns matching the energy of the original. “Toxic” featuring Ol' Dirty Bastard and the Tiggers provides a cover for Brittany Spears’ original hit. The song has the same addictive James Bondish quality to it that the original song had, along with the late ODB's interesting flair. Amy Winehouse’s contribution “Valerie” is sung beautifully, and still keeps that bounce of the Zutons original and Lily Allen’s “Oh My God” has a similar soulful feel attached to it that the Kaiser sleeper hit had. Robbie Williams even makes an appearance on this album, with a cover of "The Only One I know" (originally by The Charlatans). There are plenty fresh sounds to be found on this album, something difficult to achieve on a collection of covers. Version’s collection of heavy hits and indie songs, along with artists with a similar span of visibility make it possible, and can attest to Ronson keeping his ear to the ground and knowing good music when he hears it. Mark Ronson has delivered a version of music that you should not find yourself without.

"Oh My God" single review: Mark Ronson - 'Oh My God'Released on 16/07/07 Label: Columbia There are, believe it or not, some who really don't believe the hype and just aren't having it that Mark Ronson is, in fact, the saviour of British music. Every time Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse are held up as shining examples of his work, they drag out Robbie Williams' "Rudebox", forgetting that Ronson's contributions were actually the best thing about it. Yet while his "Version" album may have provided ammunition for the accusations of being a slavishly retro, bongo bashing, horn totting one trick pony, "Oh My God" at least proves, that at points, it's a bloody good trick. If turning the archetypical indie anthem into a sly strut - grinding organs and excitable horns and all - doesn't qualify it as a masterpiece, then casting Lily Allen as the heroine of the Kaiser Chiefs' battle cry of the underachiever is surely worthy of a respectful nod. Playing it disinterested and dumb for the verses, then turning into Wonder Woman in a hoop earrings and a New Look dress for the chorus, she proves that whatever their detractors say about them individually, together Allen and Ronson are unstoppable. by Dan Gennoe

I have absolutely fallen in love with this album. Came totally out of left field, though. How long has Ronson been around?

He's been around for awhile now. He was a scene DJ along with his sister Samantha Ronson (former Rocafella artist). But now he's turned towards the production side. He helped craft Nikka Costa's debut album in like 2001 along with her husband and her.

Mark Ronson smooth talks the crowds at Ibiza RocksMark Ronson took to the Manumission Bar stage at Ibiza hot spot San Antonio to mark the ongoing line-up for this year's Ibiza Rocks. As the crowds began to swarm and swelter in the heat, just before 10pm on July 24, three brass players bounded down the stairs, before Ronson bounded into the spotlight along with rest of his band, who all managed to cram themselves onto the tiny stage. Kicking off the night with Coldplay instrumental 'God Put A Smile Upon Your Face', Ronson immediately addressed the swelling crowd, revealing to them that "I can't believe we're here. This almost didn't happen." Ronson, who as previously reported was taking a break from remixing Bob Dylan, was then joined by vocalist Daniel Merriweather for Britney Spears cover 'Toxic', before additional guest vocalist Alex Greenwald leapt on stage to sing Radiohead's 'Just' before spectacularly stagediving into the crammed sea of people below and disappearing into the crowd. "You guys are f*cking great by the way," Ronson declared before starting up the band once again to play Phantom Planet anthem and The OC theme tune 'California'. Surprisingly the most popular song of the night with the crowd, the fans were still singing the chorus the next evening (July 25) as they spotted the singer making his way through Ibiza's Old Town for dinner with friends. The set was peppered with additional tracks from his 2007 record 'Version', including 'Oh My God', and recent hit 'Stop Me', which sparked an a capella singalong from the audience below. Ronson finally took time to thank New Young Pony Club, who earlier supported.

Hopefully he reshoots another video if he releases it in the US with Amy just like he did with "Stop Me". The first version doesnt include Daniel Merriweather. Damn Amy would've rocked the sh!t out of that video.

Yep. Watch it go Top 10 again next week, since "Valerie" (probably) hasn't peaked yet. The UK is an amazing market when it comes to singles helping album sales. In the US it only happens a few times a year...

Next UK single is "Just", out February 18th.
It is actually a re-release: it was originally issued in 2006 for the Exit Music: Songs with Radio Heads tribute album to Radiohead. It charted at #48 in March of that year.
The album was certified double platinum in the UK for shipments of 600k copies. Congrats!

Producer Of The Year at the Grammy's! Well-deserved, too. His work on Amy Winehouse's album was phenomenal.

Now I just hope that he can have some kind of breakthrough in the US... The fact that he produced songs on Back to Black must to be crystal clear now, LOL...

1000% deserved his Grammy. I would've been happy with either him or Timbaland. Ronson is a genius and what he did for B2B is incredible.

Apr 11, 2:27 PM EDT Producer Mark Ronson Signs Label Deal
NEW YORK (AP) -- Mark Ronson, the Grammy-winning producer who worked on Amy Winehouse's star-making American debut, is aligning his Allido record label with Interscope Records, and adding a new artist: much-buzzed about emerging rapper Wale.
"He's the first rapper from (Washington) D.C. who sort of has the chance to make it. He's incredibly intelligent," Ronson told The Associated Press this week of the artist, who is expected to release his debut later this year.
"I feel like Wale is kind of picking up ... from Kanye (West)'s generation to a whole new generation," he said. "Wale has all the elements to make one of those great classic hip-hop debut records."
Ronson produced much of Winehouse's "Back to Black," which won five Grammys, and worked on Lily Allen's debut CD, "Alright, Still." He's already back at work in the studio with Winehouse, who finished a much-publicized stint in rehab earlier this year. Ronson said Winehouse's mood in the studio is "the same as (it) always is. I suppose the paparazzi have to figure out how (to) wiggle in."
As far as the artistic direction of Winehouse's record, he said the pair haven't settled on one.
"I don't know, honestly," he said. "If you think about it too much ... you start to try and emulate things. ... When I hear the songs I'll know what kind of record to make."
