So the show isn't really about her returning to music, as I originally thought. Hopefully her "new beginning" includes a new album lol. I hope she releases a new one in 2011, and maybe a Christmas album the following year.

www.people.com/people/article/0,,20454262,00.html Shania Twain Is Married By Julie Dam Saturday January 01, 2011 08:50 PM EST Shania Twain has gotten hitched! The country superstar and Frédéric Thiébaud got married in Puerto Rico on New Year's Day, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. "They were married at sunset in Rincon, Puerto Rico, in front of 40 of their closest family and friends," says the rep. The couple, who confirmed their engagement last month, became romantically involved in 2009, finding solace with each other after their spouses allegedly had an affair, breaking up both marriages. In a letter to fans she posted on her Web site in December, Twain wrote, "In the last two and a half years of adjusting to life after separation and divorce, I needed to lean on others more often than I was accustomed to. These people have been gifts, and I am fortunate to have so many of these beautiful people – friends, family and beloved fans, [whose] support I cherish more deeply with each day that passes." "Talking about love," she continued, "I am excited to share some personal news with you; I'm in love! Frédéric Nicolas Thiébaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship."

The following is from the Official Shania Twain Site:11/01/2011 7:00pm Shania Twain to be inducted to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the 2011 JUNO Awards Toronto, ON (January 11, 2011) — The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) is pleased to announce international superstar Shania Twain as the 2011 inductee to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. In addition to a string of chart-topping albums, Twain has garnered numerous awards and accolades over her extraordinary career — including 12 JUNO Awards — and will add yet another achievement when she is honoured during the live CTV broadcast of The 2011 JUNO Awards, on Sunday, March 27. This will mark Twain’s return to the JUNO Awards since hosting the Ottawa broadcast in 2003. “Shania Twain revolutionized the look and sound of country music, and truly is one of the most accomplished and celebrated music artists of her era,” said Melanie Berry, President & CEO of CARAS. “Her authenticity as a songwriter and performer has made her a global powerhouse, and we’re so proud to honour her at home in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.” Shania Twain is a world-wide music phenomenon: more than 41 million albums sold in the U.S. and over 4.2 million albums in Canada; the top-selling female artist in history; multi-platinum album sales in 32 countries including Canada, Australia, the UK, Indonesia, Holland and Norway; the sixth biggest selling album of all time; 16 Top Ten hits, half of which reached No. 1; and the list continues. This Spring, Twain’s highly anticipated autobiography hits bookstores, chronicling her extraordinary life and remarkable musical journey, plus the songstress is set to debut a docu-series on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, titled “Why Not? With Shania Twain.” Twain took the country music scene by storm in 1995 with the release of THE WOMAN IN ME, bringing a catchy, never-heard-before pop sensibility to the genre. The first single from the album, “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under” caught everyone’s attention, but it was the brash and sassy “Any Man of Mine” that really set the tone for Twain’s impact on country music. A runaway hit, complemented by a video that debuted Twain’s star power, the song rose to the top of the charts, followed quickly by the equally attitude-filled “I’m Outta Here.” THE WOMAN IN ME went on to sell over 12 million copies in the U.S. and nearly 400,000 copies in Canada, replacing Patsy Cline’s Greatest Hits as the bestselling album by a female country artist. Twain became a mainstay on the awards stage in 1996 earning two JUNO Awards including Entertainer of the Year, her first Grammy for Best Country Album and just about every major global music award. She continued her incredible momentum with COME ON OVER in 1997, which spawned four consecutive record-breaking No. 1 hit singles: “Man, I Feel Like A Woman!,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” “Love Gets Me Every Time” and “You’re Still The One.” With sales of 19 million copies in the U.S. and two million in Canada, the album became the biggest seller by a woman in any genre of music, and is the highest selling record in the Nielsen SoundScan era — establishing her as a bona fide international superstar. Following two wildly successful albums, Twain set out on a 19-month tour and performed for more than 2.5 million fans. The “Come On Over Tour” was the highest-grossing tour in country music history. At the top of her game, she finally took a well-deserved break and welcomed her greatest accomplishment, her first child. But fans couldn’t get enough Shania, and she didn’t keep them waiting for long. In 2002, Twain released UP!, a double-CD set that offered a country version and pop mix of songs to the delight of her fans, who snapped up nearly three million copies in less than a month. The first single, “I’m Gonna Getcha Good,” once again proved her prowess as a songwriter and performer, and garnered Twain three more JUNO Awards in 2003. Certified at 10 million U.S. sales and over a million in Canada, UP! made Twain the only artist in history to have three consecutive diamond RIAA-certified albums — the other two being THE WOMAN IN ME (12x platinum) and COME ON OVER (19x platinum). With three powerhouse albums to draw from, SHANIA TWAIN’S GREATEST HITS was released in 2004, with Canadian sales topping close to a million. “I wanted to put together all of my favourite songs from over the years for a fun, high-energy album,” said Twain. “And it was exactly that, as well as a dedication to all of the passionate fans who have enjoyed and supported me throughout the years.” In 2005, Twain received one of the nation’s most prestigious honours and became an Officer of the Order of Canada in recognition of her contributions to Canadian culture and society. The Canadian Music Hall of Fame was established in 1978 and recognizes Canadian artists that have attained commercial success while having a positive impact on the Canadian music scene here at home and around the world. Shania Twain will join the ranks of Canadian music icons including Anne Murray, Bruce Cockburn, Daniel Lanois, Hank Snow, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Oscar Petersen and Tom Cochrane in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Shania Twain's Autobiography will be titled "From This Moment On."It's scheduled to be released on May 3, 2011...but it's available for Pre-order right now. Shania's "From This Moment On" autobiography will be available as a Hardcover book, a CD, and a Barnes & Noble NOOKbook. Here is the Cover of "From This Moment On" by Shania Twain. The following is a description of the book: Product DescriptionBorn Eilleen Regina Edwards in 1965 in rural Canada, Shania Twain has lived a life rife with triumph and tragedy. By the time she was two, her parents had divorced, and by early childhood, her family of seven was often without food, at times living in a filthy one-bedroom apartment. But when her mother and stepfather were tragically killed in an automobile accident when she was twenty-two, Shania knew that the only way to lift her family out of poverty was to use her God-given singing talent. At an age when most young people have only themselves to think about, Shania moved her entire family to a nearby resort where she began performing, supporting her younger brothers and sisters. In riveting and often heartbreaking prose, Shania takes the reader back to these pivotal moments, revealing the difficulties she and her family faced. Shania writes of being discovered, time spent performing in Nashville, and her sudden, dramatic rise to stardom. She also spares no details about her recent personal struggles and heartbreaks—struggles she’s never discussed publicly. This remarkable book is the story of a brave, honest, entirely genuine woman who faced odds most people never experience, yet has succeeded beyond anyone’s expectations. About the AuthorShania Twain rose to fame in the early 1990s with her debut album Shania Twain (1993), and achieved worldwide success with her 1997 album Come On Over, which became the best-selling album of all time by a female musician, and the best selling country album of all time. A five-time Grammy Award winner, Twain has also achieved major success as a songwriter, winning 27 BMI Songwriter awards. Despite the fact Twain has released very few albums, she has sold over 75 million albums worldwide to date, including 48 million in the U.S. Amazon

I'll definitely read that book. Shania's life story has been an intriguing one for sure. Mutt drama aside, her upbringing and early family life will likely make for a really interesting read.
I'll believe the album when I see it, but at the very least the book and TV show are something to look forward to.

I wonder if she'll be out promoting the book (and TV show) by making some appearances on Ellen, Regis & Kelly, Letterman, etc.? Maybe then we'll get some confirmation if she is indeed working on new music or not?

I think her reality show should be enough. She doesn't need to go the Jennifer Lopez route. Previous to 'On the Floor', Jennifer's career was the pits and Idol was her opportunity to gain back mainstream public support. Shania isn't in the same situation as Jennifer. Shania left off on a much higher career note. Her return is more in line of Sade and their return to music. Besides, the majority of reality stars rarely translate their success into something long term. I wouldn't be against her being on X-factor but I don't think she needs it.

Shania is a musical legend. She's up there with Madonna and Tina. I'd watch X-Factor just to see her. J.Lo is/ never was anywhere near Shania. Shania sings and writes! J.Lo talks with beats.

Now that I think about it, Shania doesn't even need her reality series. She's a big enough name to just release a successful album with only abit of promo. I am just glad she's coming back!!!!

Well hopefully Shania has been writing for quite some time already and will continue to do so until the show starts, if she is indeed going to be a part of it.
If she releases her album in early 2012, I can definitely see the show helping her out. It has been over 8 years since her last studio album, so some people may have forgotten about her and how big she was.

Shania loved her time on AI, and she was great on it, so I'd love to see her on XFactor :) But I want new music sooo bad! She's one of the few artist who takes such HUGE breaks, even though she isn't a flop........

I'd love to see her as an X Factor judge! I thought she should have been chosen for Idol over JLO, so this would be even better.
I will be watching the show May 8. I just hope these new appearances coincide with new music.

Shania being an X-Factor judge would be AMAZING. That would be perfect to coincide with her new album. Not that I doubt it will successful, but it would be nice to get her back in the spotlight. Hopefully Simon picks her! Shes in the Pink, Kelly clarkson group....Not in the Madonna Shania group She has the best-selling album from a female artist ever so I think she fits just fine in the Madonna group.

New Original Series WHY NOT? WITH SHANIA TWAIN Premieres Sunday, May 8 on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Los Angeles, Ca.) OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will premiere the anticipated docu-series “Why Not? with Shania Twain” featuring country/pop music sensation Shania Twain on Sunday, May 8 from 11 p.m.-12 a.m. ET/PT immediately following the “The Judds” finale (10-11 p.m. ET/PT). The series will move to its regular time period (Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT) beginning the following Sunday, May 15. “Why Not? with Shania Twain” intimately documents the amazing journey of the music superstar who, by the age of 21, had survived a childhood of poverty and the loss of both her parents’ in a devastating accident. She went on to become the best-selling female artist in country music history. Then at the height of superstardom, Twain was blindsided by a double-betrayal shattering her 14-year marriage. Now she opens up about her life-altering heartbreak and how she’s moving on. Viewers will follow Twain as she begins her climb back to the top through a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures. In the series, Twain sets out on a tour of healing, sharing and rediscovering her voice. She returns to her childhood home in Timmins, Northern Ontario, Canada with her sister, Carrie Ann, to revisit the memories of their adolescence and their parents shocking death. She then continues on her journey with her bandmates and closest confidants as she steps out of her comfort zone on a cross-country adventure. Along the way, Twain meets with vocal doctors and coaches, as well as a grief counselor to work through the emotional connection of her vocal restrictions. She also meets with people and families that have experienced similar hardships in their lives, and has intimate one-on-one conversations with experts in the music industry including Gladys Knight, Lionel Richie and David Foster, who provide guidance and inspiration as she attempts to reclaim her voice. The series is produced by Gay Rosenthal Productions. Gay Rosenthal, Bryn Freedman and Shania Twain are the executive producers.
