Okay Miss Dayne, I see you! She was the Pittsburgh Pride kick-off performer last night and was looking snatched (56! Never woulda guessed) and singing her ASS OFF. She was legitimately singing those songs harder than she was thirty years ago. What a sweetie, glad she's kept those pipes in shape (which some of our other kick-off performers have not, I ain't saying no names though).

I've been spinning Taylor quite a bit since seeing her live. I forgot her second album was so cute.
Also, the Cherry Pop re-masters of her first three albums are ACE if anyone is interested. They sound amazing, all the b-sides, remixes, great liner notes, etc. All around just really good re-releases.

Took me a minute to realize these are all re-sung. I usually hate re-sung songs when I find them on Spotify, but in this case I'm impressed how a woman in her 50's can do justice to songs recorded in her 20's. Go Leslie.

Yea, I didn't even know this was out until I discovered 'Prove Your Love' in my new releases playlist! Pretty cool how she hasn't lost any of her vocal snarl in all this time.

Taylor Dayne is an extremely savvy businessperson. She's been on Fox Business a couple of times and I was really impressed by her knowledge and insights of how the music business works. Plus, she's very accessible and likable. I'm certain that's why she's re-recorded her songs and then markets them. I'll have to check out this latest release.
The CFF album is an underrated pop/rock gem.

Pop Icon Taylor Dayne on Choosing Single Motherhood, Love and Power Tools JANUARY 16, 2019 â 5:00 AM â 0 COMMENTS By NICOLA BRIDGES
If Taylor Dayneâs chart topper âTell It to My Heartâ was on a loop on your CD Walkman in your teens or 20s, you might be shocked to know it was just a little over 30 years agoâ1988âwhen Dayneâs signature pop-dance anthem for the lovestruck hit the charts. Since then, Dayne has enjoyed Grammy-nominated Top 10 hits across three consecutive decades, starred alongside Warren Beatty in the movie Love Affair, headlined in Elton Johnâs award-winning Broadway production of Aida, and raised twins as a single mom by choice.
Now the Grammy-nominated pop icon is telling it all in her memoir, Tell It to My Heart: How I Lost My S***, Conquered My Fear, and Found My Voice, releasing (when else?) on Valentineâs Day. Dayne describes her memoir as gritty and real. âItâs about love, which is good even when it doesnât last, and God, who is good, even when it seems like Heâs being kind of a dick. Itâs also about friendship, but most of all itâs about the voice, which was my salvation.â
We caught up with the passionate, outspoken pop iconâwhoâs as real and authentic as it getsâin a raw and honest interview about love, making lists and how she recovered from losing her s***.
Why now to write a memoir?
A memoir is a funny thing to call it. I feel like Iâve lived through three lifetimes! Itâs really my story from where it took me to today; my personal journey and the âwhyâ of my career and losing my s*** and of how I chose solo motherhood and surrogacy. Itâs for my fans of 30 years, from back when I started when we thought I was the typical breaking artist in my 20s for an audience who were basically my peers, through gaining an audience of women and men and a huge gay audience along the wayâand taking them with me all these 30 years as theyâve fallen in and out of love, multiple times or once, and maybe what they got isnât the original love story they signed up for.
Love features a lot in your songs through those decades.
Tell me about it! [Laughs] âTell It to My Heart,â âLove Will Lead You Back,â âProve Your Love to Meââlove, love and more love! But I look at the spiritual perspective of things; at whatâs been a brilliant journey of love for what I do, and hard work, and risk, and being fierce, and finding the purpose and the joy of what my voice servesâand especially becoming a single mother by choice through surrogacy. By my 30s, I had a fear of being trapped, and when I did surrogacy [without a partner], God just said, âWell f*** it, hereâs two to love, you can deal with twins!â
Excuse our language, but letâs talk s*** and about how you lost yours. What happened?
Ha! Yes, letâs talk about that, losing my s***âIâm an open book and itâs all in the book! The epiphany moment for me was that Iâd created this entire career, this kingdom, including all the people who were pivotal in my lifeâgood, bad and ugly. For me, when I lost my s***, it was when I knowledgeably walked away from my record deal and everything Iâd worked for, when I really couldnât grasp and understand fame. Yes, the hard work and all the pleasures. I understood that and enjoyed it. But you have to find the reason and purpose for it: Why am I in the game? Whatâs my passion, my purposeâwhat fans the flame? Losing my s*** was a loss of everything Iâd created as an artist searching for that.
As an artist, you work the corporate line and generate. But I didnât take any business management classes or study for that kinda team work. The losing of the s*** came with losing grasp of my title of âQueen of Where I Was GoingââI let it slip from my fingers. I felt I was losing my personal integrity and wasnât being truthful to who I was and what I wanted to do and be as an artist. It felt very unsafe. But you have to find your own power tool of purpose and stick to your passion.
How do you do that?
You have to be fierce. Fierce is having a voice, standing up for things, knowing that you count. You have to look at what your seed is. We all have our own individual seedâour purpose, our pushâthat puts us on the planet. Some people canât get out of their own way, though. But you must compete against your own fears, look within your personal tool chest and challenge yourself; find your seed, hone in and actually say, âWow, this is more than a skill, itâs my ability, my personal power tool.â For me, it was my voice, and if youâre in the game of life, itâs having an openness to learning our purpose and rising to ourselves. I know so many people who ignore their inner voice, who always say, âHow, how, how?â Theyâre stuck in a pattern, and letâs be frank, itâs habits that unfortunately become character traits that become who you are. Only you can take action and break it down if you want to be Queen (or King) of Where Youâre Going.
Whatâs your top tip for breaking out of the âhowâ?
Make lists, lots of lists! One of the greatest things you can do is write it down. Set intentions. Intentions are what inspires you, and writing them down holds you accountable. You must write it down. But it has to come out of your head and your heart. Every day I write notes and lists. I go through a legal pad a week! And I keep reminders of accomplishments. In my wallet I have little gifts and tools from my shamans and little reminders of what Iâve done, how far Iâve come and where I want to go.
Are you happy today with how far youâve come?
At fifty-fffrrshx (ok, Iâm 55), Iâm a little powerhouse who knows emotionally and physically what I can do. I feel like Iâm the closest Iâve ever been to knowing peace, knowing who I am and what I need. Loving, learning, mentoring and motheringâthese are tall tasks that require a strong backbone of authenticity and integrity. I have that now. I like who I am. I love who I am, and where Iâm sitting today, and Iâve learned to enjoy the small things.

New single coming out at the end of the month. Pop Icon Taylor Dayne Opens Up Her Heartby Ilyssa Panitz Feb 6 Are you like me and if the song, âTell It To My Heartâ comes on the radio you start singing at the top of your lungs? Thanks to Taylor Dayne that 1987 hit single shot to the top of the music charts and instantly made the 24-years-old singer an overnight sensation. Other tracks such as, âIâll Always Love Youâ soon followed as well as two Grammy nominations and the sale of millions of albums. Today, the 56-year-old artist is still cranking out tunes and releasing her memoir, appropriately titled, âTell It To My Heart,â on Valentineâs Day. Dayne is giving fans an inside look at what fans will discover in this 244-page book. Ilyssa Panitz: You have a new memoir, âTell It To My Heart.â Taylor Dayne: I do and I am so excited. It has been two-years in the making. Ilyssa Panitz: What compelled you to write it and release it now? Taylor Dayne: It is an evolution of me as a woman, as a single mom, as a daughter and as an artist. It was evident to me this story, my story was going to evolve into a book. It took six-months to prepare doing it but I knew I had to tell it. Ilyssa Panitz: How was writing this different than writing music? Taylor Dayne: A memoir is more of different moments in time and in a song you are telling your position in three-minutes. I try to be timeless when I write my music but when I wrote this book I traveled backwards by reliving, reopening and re-expressing things I went through from my childhood. Every chapter feels like three songs (laughs) Ilyssa Panitz: What came to mind as you were recalling many of these memories, some that were not so pleasant? Taylor Dayne: I saw the little girl I used to be. I have this picture of me when I was four-years-old that I keep next to my bed. As I was writing this book and recalling so many things, it stirred up a lot of the fears and joy I have had in my life. There are so many messages in this book I want people to take away. There were uncontrollable moments, never ending determination and yet there is an innocence and vulnerability. I hope it shows that I was not a victim. In fact, I want to show everyone that we all go through a journey, some that arenât so pleasant, but it can also be this incredible ride. Ilyssa Panitz: What was the toughest lesson you learned along the way? Taylor Dayne: It is the one that stays with you forever, the big decision making because it never leaves you. When I parted ways my label it alerted the course of my music and my career. I was a young girl who said, no one was going to take anything from me. Ilyssa Panitz: What obstacles did you tackle along the way? Taylor Dayne: Bulimia, panic attacks and there were many of those. If I did not have this eternal flame that kept my drive going I would have become hopeless. Ilyssa Panitz: What would you say was your darkest period? Taylor Dayne: My early 30âs up to 36. I achieved so much and yet I felt so little. I didnât know what I was doing it for. Was I doing it for family? Was I doing it for love? I had not reached that place where I was purposeful and understanding. My biggest challenge was also getting out of my own way. I was completely trapped by my own inner thoughts and my own inner dialogue. It looked like I was self-sabotaging because I did not know where to turn and who to turn to. Ilyssa Panitz: What inspired you to keep pushing forward and not give up? Taylor Dayne: One thing I write about is trust. Who can you trust, how can you learn to trust. You have to learn about the eternal walk and you find a way to walk though it and I chose survival. Now I am in the 50âs and I am thriving. Ilyssa Panitz: In the title you use the words, conquer fear. What fear was that and how did you move past it? Taylor Dayne: I suffered from anxiety and panic attacks. There were hard core. It can isolate and cut you off from the world so you can find a place that makes you feel safe. The only thing I knew how to control was me in terms of where I went, who I went with and how I did it this including sleeping and how I slept. It was very precise. I wrote a chapter on how I had to separate myself from my boyfriend because I need to learn how to conquer this so I can get past it. It is both physical and emotional. I went to therapy and did a lot of self-acknowledgement. Ilyssa Panitz: On a scale of one to ten, ten being the highest, how would you rate you level of happiness today? Taylor Dayne: I can go 10, I can go nine or even and eight. But overall I am up on the spectrum and I am ok with where I am. I still continue to challenge myself and I have grown to love the woman that I am. Yeah I am bruised but I know that I am still learning and I am still going only this time I am really enjoying the ride. Ilyssa Panitz: What comes to mind when I say the following names, which you will talk about in your book: Michael JacksonâââA Force, the greatest entertainer. He really needed to be the greatest and he was. Whitney HoustonâââBeautiful! She was really alive yet she had a deep sadness and sorrow that you saw when you met her yet she also had a warmth about her that was one of a kind. Sir Elton JohnâââVery tenacious, incredible, survivor, thriver and incredible vocalist. Ilyssa Panitz: Now that you are an accomplished author, is there another book up your sleeve? Taylor Dayne: Oh yeah and I am already working on it. There is so much more I have to say. It will be far more specific than this one. I want to get into other things I did not get a chance to write about such as choosing to get a surrogate to have my children. I want to get into menopause, now that we can be open about this subject and proving that anything is possible. Ilyssa Panitz: So you are reaping the rewards? Taylor Dayne: Yes, there are my children but when I get on stage I see the people and that is a reward too. I find such a joy In performing now more so then when I was younger and felt depleted because I did not know what I was doing it for. Ilyssa Panitz: Here is something else that is music to my ears, you are on tour? Taylor Dayne: Always! Plus, I am releasing my new single at the end of February. My new tour starts in March and you can find out where and when on taylordayne.com. I am back at it and this book is my story to tell so everyone knows I am here. medium.com/authority-magazine/taylor-dayne-opens-up-her-heart-593b5f3d1a01?fbclid=IwAR2A8HT6G8HI1_vFPC89FjiW90vkdy_dU7m30J3ulWDmhikSKbyrKQno_o4

That show sounds AMAZING!!!! Jody and Taylor were two of my favorites back in the day. Jody almost became one of my Top favorites but kind of disappeared. Taylor was a favorite as well. Favorites my her are "Prove You Love, Say A Prayer (remix), "I'll Always love You, Love Will Lead You Back, Send Me A Lover, I'll Wait, Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Don't Rush Me, Do You Want It Right Now" Actually practically her whole debut. I liked her second release but it wasn't as edgy as the first and her 3rd was for me a return to form. The follow up was decent enough but got no attention and she had left her label at the time and I doubt got much promotion. I liked Lisa Lisa as well and own an album and Greatest Hits of hers. Aww the memories...
Is this a full tour or a one off performance???

My sister-in-law went last night to Westbury in Long Island with her friends and she's been raving about it. She said all the ladies were great. She got to take a pic with Taylor.
