Rapper Lil' Kim has left Atlantic Records and intends to release her upcoming as-yet-untitled album independently.
On DJ Kay Slay's Sirius Satellite Radio show "Streetsweeper Radio" last week, Kim shared that she harbors no ill feelings toward Atlantic. She said she was afraid to release her music independently several years ago but is now more comfortable in her knowledge of the music business to work her project.
It's rumored that the MC will join Capitol Music Group's independent arm, Imperial Records, however Kim's management was unavailable for comment. Fat Joe is also signed to Imperial.
Lil Kim's upcoming album, which was originally slated for February, is now tentatively set for April or May 2008.
Kim's Atlantic swan song, 2005's "The Naked Truth," has sold 394,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

August 13, 2008. MediaTakeOut.com is hearing whispers that Lil Kim may pose nude for Playboy magazine any day now. At least that's how Hugh Hefner wants it.
Here's what Hugh had to say about it:
"I am willing to shell out any amount for Kim, I’ve been trying to get her to do it for years!" Hugh exclaims. The two have not been shy about their feelings for each other when Hugh was seen kissing Lil’ Kim at a post Grammy party back in 2001.
“Kim previously declined the offer for the cover citing her religious beliefs and devotion to God, but a source close to Kim says “the only reason why she declined it at the time was because the money was not enough, this time the money is right.
Someone help this man. Apparently he's so old he thinks it's 1998 and Lil Kim's still hot ....

B.I.G TEACHES LIL' KIM HOW TO RAP ON LEAKED 'REFERENCE' TRACKS

So, this is weird. It's long been rumored that the Notorious B.I.G. wrote Lil' Kim's early songs. While most hip-hop heads have long embraced the rumor as fact, it's always been an interesting premise, considering the nature of Kim's lyrics. But if the thought of Biggie penning lines like "Got buffoons eating my p---- while I watch cartoons" bugged you out, wait 'til you hear him spit them.
Back in the day, when Biggie was writing Kim's lyrics (and apparently the rest of Junior Mafia's, as well), he recorded some reference tracks so that Kim and co. would know how to rap the lyrics he wrote for them. Now several of these reference tracks just surfaced, including a version of 'Queen B----' entirely rapped by Biggie (yes, hooks and all), and a version of 'Player's Anthem' where Big kicks Lil' Cease's verse too.
They've started playing "Download" with T-Pain on Hot 97 in New York, but it's been out awhile. It's one of T-Pain's weaker productions I've heard recently. All he did was sample "Computer Love," and the lyrics are SO bad.
Notorious B.I.G.'s mom, Voletta Wallace, says she wants to speak to Lil' Kim. In the wake of the Queen Bee's comments that she was going to eventually "expose" Ms. Wallace and Faith Evans, Ms. Wallace told radio personality Angie Martinez yesterday that after watching the film "Notorious," she had remorse for the way her son treated Kim.
"I felt bad for Kim," Wallace said. "Bad because Christopher did not treat her well. Christopher didn't love her the way she deserved to be loved. I honestly felt Christopher cheated on her, Christopher lied to her."
Wallace also that Big's whirlwind romance and subsequent marriage to Faith Evans undoubtedly hurt Kim (watch a clip from "Notorious" depicting the love triangle here), with whom he was also romantically involved.
"If you're gonna get married and you're dating somebody and seeing somebody, at least sit down and talk to this person. Don't just go get married and walk away from somebody that really cared for you. I really felt bad for her."
Wallace said she and Kim — who has spoken negatively about the film — haven't spoken for quite some time, but should they meet up again, Big's mom has some specific questions.
"I want to believe she loved him," Wallace — who called the Big/Kim relationship "tumultuous" — explained to Martinez. "I want to know: Did my son love you?"
It wasn't until Big's death that his mother learned the extent of his and Kim's relationship, she said, adding that she knew Kim as an artist and "talented performer."
"I never knew that relationship was really that deep," Wallace commented.
