Sara Evans always enters and performs multiple songs in a row before stopping to talk to the audience when kicking off a show. I fail to see what's so strange about that though? Every time I've seen her (which has been 4 times -- #5 will be next month) she has taken the time to talk in between songs and tell fun anecdotes, but it's always towards the middle of the show. It wouldn't make much sense to me for her to do that before she's hardly sang anything, and I don't see the need for her to talk about every song she sings either. You buy tickets to a show to hear the artist sing their songs, everything else is just extra. it just seemed odd to me. I've never seen anyone do that but it wasn't just that. She almost seemed angry or in a bad mood for the majority of the show. I didn't expect her to talk before every single song it was just how she spaced things out that seemed odd. and I don't necessarily buy tickets to just see artist sing their songs, I buy tickets to be entertained. I wasn't as entertained at this show as I have been at other shows. Something was lacking in that regard and I'm not even sure exactly what it was. Not saying this makes me dislike Sara Evans at all because it doesn't, she still sounded incredible throughout the entire night. I thought at the very least Sara should have said something to the effect of, thank you (in my case, NYC) for coming at the beginning, and then played a few songs in a row before talking to the audience. The breaks gives the band to get some water, at the very least. I do like when the stories of the songs are given. I do agree that not every song needs a story, otherwise, the show would take much longer, and bands/venues are on a set schedule.

It's funny, sometimes my favourite parts of concerts are when the artist interacts with the audience. Some of my very favourites (Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood) are extremely skilled at doing this.

I’ve seen Sara 10 times over the past 17 years and I will say she does far less interacting now than she used to. I think a lot of people want the artist to “shut up and sing” where’s others enjoy the banter. I personally enjoy when she interacts more. She is really quite funny!
I think her voice has only gotten stronger with age, or maybe she’s just not afraid to go for the hard notes now.

The concert was great!! Really fell in love with all three women as they slated all their sets! I got to meet RaeLynn and Kalie! Kalie was especially cool meeting since she may have heard of our little message board. 😊 The encore was cute lol let’s not spoil it for Indulge though. 😋 OMG!!! Did you ask Kalie who her favorite poster is??? Since Miles got banned I've been looking for a new bboat stan! Lol I don't think she knows any of us to have a favorite, though it's probably me now All I told her was "I'm part of a message board where a few of us were wondering why you weren't signed yet" and she stopped me and asked if I was talking about Pulse. This does mean she could be reading this now lol If so hi Kalie!

Well I missed LanCo due to the city plowing my car in, but i made it in time for Kane Brown, who i could never see again and be fine. There was a spot in his show where he did 5 songs from his middle school ipod. And I had only ever heard of two of them. None country. He also sounded way off from what I've heard before.
Now Chris Young, that man is fantastic. He did When You Say Nothing At All just him and the guitar and nailed it.

I`m going to see Reba again in July...twice! I think this'll be over 10 times seeing her now, but I'm not completely sure.

Sara Evans tonight for the fifth time! <3 And your thoughts are? She was wonderful as always! This is probably my favorite show of her's to date, because I got to meet her this time (finally!), and I also loved both Kalie Shorr and RaeLynn as her openers, whereas 3 of the other 4 shows I saw her at were just her on the bill, so that definitely scored some bonus points. I also had great seats close to the stage and it really feels like her vocals have only improved over the years, as crazy as that might sound. All around fantastic show. I was also really happy to see that she played about half of the Words album because the last few times I saw her after Slow Me Down had come out, she never did more than three songs from that record at a single show. She sounded and looked amazing as usual, and I love her witty banter with the audience. She's always hilarious and cracks everyone up and I love that. Her brother Matt and sister Lesley are full-time members of her band, but she also has her oldest child Avery out on the road with her on this tour so that was cool, plus my show was in her home state so there was a ton of other family members out in the audience as well. There were like 6 or so people directly behind my sister and I who were cousins, for instance. Highlights of the show for me: Opening the show with "Long Way Down" was great, loved that she did "Backseat of a Greyhound Bus," the 3-part harmonies with her sister and brother on "Night Light" were gorgeous, her cover of "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" by Chicago was flawless and got a huge response/standing O from the crowd, RaeLynn + Kalie Shorr singing my favorite Dixie Chicks hit ("I Can Love You Better"), and the encore with all three of them doing Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" together... plus getting to meet both Sara and RaeLynn. It was a great night. <3 Side-note: Sara's right hand woman Kaylin isn't the best photographer and this one where she caught Sara adjusting her mouth was actually the best picture of the few that she took, lol.

To save space, I am not going to quote you, .indulgecountry. I believe Sara and RaeLynn were charging for a meet and greet and other things in NYC. That is a funny pic with Sara. To the show itself, I liked the encore too and it fit the theme of the show perfectly. Was this the first time you saw Kalie and if so, what did you think? I saw her last year with a full band, and this was the first time seeing her solo. Kalie is going back to NYC next month (there is a place called Opry City Stage that opened recently).

Oh yeah, I paid to meet Sara Evans (but it also included the ticket + some merch), lol. RaeLynn was actually free though. I know she also had her own VIP packages/seats available, but everyone who wanted to was able to go up and take a quick picture with her between her set and Sara's. I dunno if the people who paid for RaeLynn's VIP deal got an additional meet and greet at some point or not, but I know they got souvenirs that I didn't get... but I paid for Sara's M&G so I got several items from that of my own. I thought Kalie Shorr was fantastic. I was impressed at how great she sounded vocally and her stage presence was really good for a young girl just up there with her guitar and no band. She also talked to the audience a lot and seemed so genuine and sweet. Some of her songs probably could've benefited from a full band for an extra punch (like "Two Hands"), but she definitely did a good job all on her own and I think she went over quite well with the crowd. I see big things for her in the future.

As far as I know (I paid for the VIP RaeLynn package), you got your pic with her, some merch, and in NYC's case because they were behind schedule, saw some of soundcheck (which I usually find entertaining). In addition, a seat close to the stage and the ticket to the show of course. I remember seeing that Sara was charging close to $250 for the VIP package that you mentioned. Kalie did a meet and greet near the entrance to BB King's afterwards (there was a big poster advertising it). Kalie is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. I think she has made some noise in Nashville. She has been on The Highway a few times, and was at most Song Suffragettes in the past few years.

Just got home from seeing Miranda Lambert tonight with Ashley McBryde and Jon Pardi as the openers! Fantastic show! Can't believe it'd been over 7 years since I'd last seen MirLam, but I *had* to fix that. Also last time I got general admission/standing room tickets for right by the stage so I decided I needed to do that again because she just puts on such a great show for that kind of atmosphere to wanna sit far away when I could be right there by her. Oh yeah, I paid to meet Sara Evans (but it also included the ticket + some merch), lol. RaeLynn was actually free though. Maybe they varied a bit from venue-to-venue, but the Sara Evans VIP tickets were right on the nose at $200 for my show. I think RaeLynn's were about $165 or 175 iirc. They weren't too far off from what Sara's were, anyway. I also really wanted to meet Kalie Shorr too because she was at her merch table after the show, but that's when the M&G for Sara Evans was happening so I went and got in line for that and by the time I got done with it, the entire arena had emptied out and everyone was gone so I missed Kalie.

It's been almost seven years since I've seen Miranda too. When I saw her, "Baggage Claim" had just been released as a single. I'd love to see her again. She is coming a couple hours away from me this summer, but I won't be able to make it. Ashley McBryde as an opener would be perfect for a Miranda concert. Glad you had a good time!

Yeah, when I saw her I believe her current single was "Only Prettier" in the fall of 2010. It's crazy that she only had 3 albums then and when I saw her tonight she was pulling from 6 records, and I also saw her at the big downtown arena in KC this time but when I saw her in 2010, she had Eric Church opening for her (which dates it all on its own since he's a huge touring draw on his own now) and it was at a smaller arena in a suburb of KC. I was like I needed to see her again, I couldn't keep waiting any longer, lol. Ashley McBryde was soooo good live. Her vocals are incredible. I am so stoked for her debut album in two weeks because I can already tell based on the handful of pre-released songs that it's going to be phenomenal.

Kalie was at the merch table at NYC as well, which makes sense since her CD was available for purchase. What is the capacity of where you saw your show at?

My sister who went to the show with me but didn't do the M&G said Kalie Shorr had a short line at her merch table for people wanting to meet her so if I'd known that, I might've gone to do that first. Oh well. The venue here that they performed at has a capacity of 1,800.

Saw Robert Ellis tonight in Austin. He said this was the first time he’d ever done anything like this...he would debut an entire album a week before he went into record it. He mentioned that it’ll be called Texas Piano Man. He wanted to try something different and perform every song live first before recording them...and I have to say it was fun.
If anyone liked his last album you won’t be disappointed.

So this past weekend I attended Tortuga Music Festival down here in Fort Lauderdale, FL (on the beach!). Figured I'd summarize my thoughts about all the bands and artists I saw. Unfortunately, I didn't get to catch LANCO and Dwight Yoakam's sets due to scheduling conflicts, and I missed Dylan Scott because they were having technical difficulties causing it to get delayed. But here are my thoughts on the rest of them I saw:
- Russel Dickerson: I was pretty excited to see Russel since he's one of my favorite recent newcomers, and he was really really strong. Very charismatic and did a great job engaging the crowd, along with singing quite well. He definitely seemed destined to be a star. Everybody knew the words to "Blue Tacoma" already as well. It reminded me of when I saw Thomas Rhett before he scored big with "It Goes Like This". Both instances I just got the feel that this guy is going to become a star.
- Chase Rice: Chase wasn't bad, but he really wasn't anything special. Played mostly upbeat stuff and closed with "Ready Set Roll". Highlights were him inviting a young little girl up on stage to sing part of a song, and also "Eyes On You" sounded like it could be a big hit for him.
- Lee Brice: Pretty straightforward show, played the hits and sounded good. Nothing crazy but solid. "Boy" got a decent sized response.
- Snoop Dogg: I know this is the country forum, but Snoop was a lot of fun. Played all the songs you want to hear, had strippers on the stage, etc etc. Was a nice break from country music.
- Florida Georgia Line: The show was pretty similar to when I saw them back in October. These guys know how to have a fun show. They crack jokes (one particular joke about Snoop smuggling in weed into the grounds was pretty funny). Their show is definitely more accessible to those who aren't quite country diehards. "Meant To Be" got a gigantic response.
- Seth Ennis: Checked him out because I enjoyed "Woke Up In Nashville". He played that one last, but had a nice medley of "Mr. Brightside" and "The Middle" before that. Was decent but nothing out of the ordinary.
- Dan + Shay: Woah. These guys blew me away. I've always liked them a decent bit, just never loved them. I definitely have more respect for them though after this show. They were full of energy, running and jumping around, full with good attitudes and good vibes. Sounded great, and if they keep playing shows like this one, then they will certainly have a long career in country music. They omitted "Road Trippin'" from their show which I thought was odd, but they must really view that one as a dud. Closed with "19 You + Me" which is my favorite song by them.
- Kip Moore: Not going to lie, Kip was rather disappointing. I had really high expectations though, especially given his style of music and how he's essentially a rock artist. He wasn't bad by any means, and the music sounded great, but I don't know if he said more than 3 words to the audience. It seemed weird, I expected him to be more engaging with the crowd. He didn't play "Last Shot" either which seems odd since its his current single. Didn't play "Blonde" either which I was really hoping for, but he did at least play "Bittersweet Company" which has become my favorite song by him. Overall he was still a solid show, but I expected better from him.
- Keith Urban: Damn, Keith was really good! Not that I expected him to suck, but I didn't think he'd be as dynamic and energetic as he was. He was amazing, and I'd easily go see him again now. Only complaint was that he largely ignored his older music, which IMO was better than his current output (even though I still think he is making great music). The only songs he played pre-2010 were "Where The Blacktop Ends", "Stupid Boy" and "Somebody Like You". I was really hoping to hear "Making Memories Of Us" since I was with my girlfriend, and I also wanted to hear "You'll Think Of Me" because its a personal favorite. But when you have as many hits as Keith, I guess its hard to pick a setlist when only given less than 2 hours to perform. Great guitar playing as well, though that aspect was expected. His encore was "Raise 'Em Up", but sadly Eric Church did not join him on stage.
- Tymisnki: Didn't know much about this guy heading in other than he had a recent critically acclaimed album. But he sounded quite good, and I'm going to check out his work now. Had a nice bluegrass influence, and was a relaxing change of pace while I sat in my beach chair drinking a lemonade.
- Brothers Osborne: They were decent, and loved to jam and run on with instrumental solos. Closed with "It Ain't My Fault" and opened with "Shoot Me Straight". They're growing on me as a group.
- Eric Church: Eric was the #1 artist I was looking forward to this festival, and he did not disappoint despite all the hype I've heard about it (a lot from Pulse itself). He clearly was the most passionate artist there, and was easily one the best shows I've seen. He talked to the crowd a lot, made the show personal, and played every song I wanted to hear except "Two Pink Lines". He didn't play "Kill A Word" which I thought was a little surprising since it was a recent hit. But he did play "Homeboy" which got me fired up. I never realized how crazy his fan base was, it was like a mini cult. But this dude deserves all the credit he gets, great performer.

I saw Kalie Shorr last night in Baltimore, MD. It was $5 to attend, and if anyone has been to Baltimore, it was in a part called Power Plant. There is plenty of garage parking and it was at Tin Roof. WMZQ/WPOC DJ Michael J was in attendance.
I finally figured out something about her that as far as I have seen, no one else (outside of writers rounds) does in Nashville. She played a lot of new material, in one case, something that was written a week and a half ago. I lost count at 6 songs that were new that she performed, that may or may not get recorded. I mentioned that to her afterwards, and she says she enjoys testing new songs to see how an audience reacts. One of the songs (which I forget the title) was co-written by Candi Carpenter. Kalie played every song from her new album, and songs from prior albums as well as a rock cover medley. Kalie mentioned at one point how she texts with Sara Evans now because of opening for her during the CMT Women of Country tour earlier this year.
Her opener was an artist by the name of Devon Nickles, who played for about 45 minutes and did a good job. I felt she has good stage presence, which is hard to find in most of Nashville. Most artists can sing, but have a hard time relating to the audience.
