I totally understand why people are underwhelmed. Like I said before, expectations were WAY too high and unrealistic. This song is better than anything on Charmbracelet/Glitter and I'd even say it's better than half of the songs on Rainbow. It's a simple, breezy, catchy, melodic song and it gets better with each listen. Radio will eat this up. It's easy to say its better than her CRAPPY material. It is still crap itself in comparison to her good material. I wouldn't say this is crappy at all. It's nowhere near crappy, imo.

It's grown on me a lot - and I liked it from the beginning anyway.

I like it, but it sounds just like SIO and that was 3 years ago. It's a dated sound.

Ummm I love Mariah, but idk about this song!
There was so much hype about this song, but like I don't see much hype about it! To me the song is kinda awful! Maybe it will grow on me or maybe not! I can't see Mariah singing a song like this!
Plus what the heck does "E=MC2" mean anyways? That is a really bad title for a CD! Sounds like a movie or something!
IDK i'm kinda disappointed!

love this Erik Bradley Music Director, B-96, Chicago, IL
"'Touch My Body' picks right up where The Emancipation Of Mimi left off. It's another classic Mariah mid-tempo SMASH with a hook that will stick with you for days. The reaction to it thus far has been incredible...I believe at the end of the day this will be Mariah's 18th #1 single. I've heard many of the songs on E=MC2 and not only is it full of killer songs, I feel it stands just as tall (perhaps taller) than T.E.O.M. Here comes another 10+ million worldwide sales and more time at the top of the charts for MC!"
************* Todd Martens Staff Writer, Los Angeles Times
The Mariah formula: First listen on 'Touch My Body' Pop star Mariah Carey unveiled today her new single and the science-friendly title of her new album, "E=MC2," due April 15. The title alone already does Janet Jackson one better. The latter went all sci-fi with her latest video, "Feedback," but Mariah is cutting out the B-movie trappings and going straight to the equation.
So is Mariah unveiling her inner Albert Einstein with the title? Or is she leaking the formula that goes into crafting a mega-hit?
E = extreme, acrobatic-like wailing.
M = multimillion-dollar production team. (Billboard.com writes that the A-list lineup cooking with Mariah in the M lab includes Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am, Stargate and Bryan Michael Cox, among others.)
C2 = Club songs multiplied by colossal ballads.
All right, so the title is certainly a not-so-subtle nod to her top-selling 2005 album, "The Emancipation of Mimi." The first single, "Touch My Body," hit radio today. It was produced by C "Tricky" Stewart and The Dream, the pair who worked on Rihanna's Grammy-winning "Umbrella."
So how is it? "Touch My Body" rides a relatively restrained slow-dance groove, with some light, orchestral-synth flourishes thrown in. The rhythm is almost completely carried by an effortless keyboard bump, the easygoing repetitiveness of which eventually wears the listener down, and sets up a delicate frame for Carey to sing around.
She pulls back when the song picks up the pace, and Carey keeps it simple here, playing with tempos rather than range. Indeed, she almost quietly slides into the chorus. "If you run around and brag about this secret rendezvous, I will hunt you down," she sings, letting the last line trail off. But you don't necessarily believe her, as the feel is more playful that sinful.
The song will be getting the full blockbuster treatment, as "Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner shot the video for the cut.

They are jumping on the hype right now. After it underperforms they will be more skeptical.

I heard it at like 3PM on the Angie Martinez show. I'm was extremely surprised to hear it. And what do I think? It's exactly what I thought it would be, a blend between Shawty Is A 10 & Shake It Off, with some cynical lyics to go along with it. But to be more specific, it's too damn hot. I was expecting there to be more synth though. Perhaps everyone was expecting some uptempo banger but when the crappy 20 second clip was circulating and the word "mid-tempo" was thrown around, the result was obvious. A killer hook and an oh so sweet melody is present, that should make this into the smash it deserves to be.

This will at least be top 20, time will be this song's best friend. Because the more you hear it, the better it gets, it's infectious without being overly powerful or big.

Im afraid of the "curiosity request" like Deja vu did. So if its is #9 on z100's countdown ...doesn't surprise..im rather scared.

Even if TOUCH MY BODY pulls a Deja Vu, Beyonce still had one of the biggest hits EVER this decade with IRREPLACEABLE (2 singles later). Mariah will be fine.

I'm shocked that after all this waiting, this is simply another Call On Me. Radio-friendly, but not smash material.

I feel the same way I did when I first heard "It's Like That"...then came "We Belong Together" so I have hope. It's not her best, that's for sure...but maybe the main event is still coming...

I havent listened yet and I am frightened of the overwhelmingly negative views on it even by Mariah fanatics. However, even BEFORE listening I know this will be a massive hit. Come on-it is Mariah and she is coming off of a massive album with several massive hits. And the album sounds solid so far.

Ugh. I was sooo looking forward to this song. I just cant get into it no matter how much I listen to it. I think Ive listened to it 30 times, and I still cant memorize the hook, I cant hum the melody. It's just a nothing song! It does nothign for me. I'm very dissapointed. Hopefully the rest of the album will sound nothing like this.
