"Nothing That You Are" could've been huge! It made top 50 at Hot AC without anything, so who knows how well it could've done with a little bit of promotion.

"NTYA" should and could've been the first single from the album.
The singles should've went this way: "Nothing That You Are" "Slummin' In Paradise" "Gardenia"
Thats how it should've gone imo. "Extraordinary" is a good song, I saw it as a worldwide single instead of US.

to be honest i think the album needed a song with a catchier hook...i dont want her to sacrifice her artistry but i do believe insightful songs can be melodically commercial. i just saw her demographic as a bit lost on this album

Yeah, I've heard that she's left The Firm.

I don't understand why artists who are technically "mainstream" but are very artistic don't just put a song or two on their album that have catchy hooks and were "made for radio". Even if it was just ONE song, it would still go a long way as that is what would drive the first few weeks of the album's sales anyway... She should shoot for some serious Hot AC airplay this time around. Pop is definitely out of the question by this point if she couldn't garner any back in 2003 when she still had a chance of getting it.

6 Albums? 1. So Real 2. I Wanna Be With You ("So Real" Re-Release) 3. Mandy Moore 4. Coverage 5. Best Of (Compilation) 6. Candy (Compilation) 7. Wild Hope 8. Super Hits (Compilation) Technically, I still think of this upcoming one as her 5th studio album... "I Wanna Be With You" was distributed and promoted as a separate album, this caused critical controversy because it included remixed tracks and originals from "So Real". But her label says it's a separate album, as does the RIAA. So I'm gonna go with that.

Mandy Moore "Crushing Hard" on UFC Fighter Georges St-PierreBy Cathy Beers May 2, 2008 Hollywood meets the Ultimate Fighting Championship. According to Star Magazine behind Mandy Moore's sweet-as-pie facade lies a fight fan and the " License to Wed" star has lots of reasons for taking in fight night. She has a very big crush on UFC fighter Georges St-Pierre, Star Magazine claims. According to the report, the singer and actress is crushing so hard on Georges St-Pierre, the Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight champ, that she often attends the 26-year-old's mixed martial arts bouts. She was in the crowd for UFC 83. At one UFC event in Montreal, "she was going crazy as Georges was beating his opponent," says an onlooker. "She was jumping up and down and having a great time." The two met up later - and not for the first time, says the insider. "Georges was overheard saying that he would love to date her!" Mandy, 24, was last linked to actor-singer Greg Laswell.

NTYA is one of my fave songs from last year. It's a shame it got zero promotions.

I wonder why "All Good Things" was chosen as the second single. It was the second song leaked on her MySpace (following "Extraordinary"), and the Target editions of her album included a "Raw Version" as a bonus track. It's not that raw.

She had NO PROMOTION. No second single. The Firm sucks as a label... The idea of the label is actually quite good. For both the artist & the label. That doesn't really happen with others. She did promote, just not when it came down to her second single. It wasn't like they canceled the project because she was still tour and still was up until March, right? I honestly don't know what happened, but she def had the material to make this album a hit. "Nothing That You Are" needed a video, some radio play and some live performances. "Gardenia" should've followed with the same. And both should've been included on some TV shows. They were like MADE for Grey's Anatomy, LOL. Mandy Moore has never been a big seller. Even back in the early days of her career when she was cute, blonde, and singing commercial music, she couldn't move albums. Britney, Christina and Jessica were all selling millions, while Mandy struggled to go platinum. I'm not hating on her (I actually like a lot of her music, mainly her older stuff); it's just the truth. And now that she's doing this indie crap, she'll sell even less. A hit single won't help her much. "Candy" and "I Wanna Be With You" both did pretty well, and their respectful albums still underperformed. She's going to be one of those artists who is always around, but never really moves up to that superstar level.

She really needs to do some more (and better) movies. She had a bit of momentum in 2007, but she really needs to sign onto a big project.
It's a shame because loads of parts have been and gone that she could have been great in. Mamma Mia in particular. That could have been a real breakthrough for her but instead it went to that nobody from Mean Girls....

She's going to be one of those artists who is always around, but never really moves up to that superstar level. Mandy Moore has sold over 8,000,000+ albums in her career based on just 4 original albums... That's nothing to cough at, she wasn't the worlds best seller, but all of her albums have sold well still. She's had her fair share of hits in the USA and worldwide, but she didn't have the promotion that her peers got at all. No award show performances, a 3rd rate choreographer, and little hype around her releases as a result. Basically her label wanted her to be Britney, without spending the money. BUT she was still popular enough to sell over 1,000,000 of an album worldwide, which is a big feat in it's own. Jessica Simpson was basically in the same boat as Mandy, but Jessica got a sh*t load of promo, so her sales aren't reflecting that. Mandy Moore's sales are pretty good if you ACTUALLY look at them: So Real: US - 1,000,000...World - 2.5 Million as of 2000IWBWY: US - 920,000...World - 1.5 Million as of 2002MandyMoore: US - 710,000...World 1.1 Million as of 2003Coverage: US - 295,000...World 650,000 as of 2004The Best Of: US - 63,000...World N/ASo as you can see, her sales aren't bad at all, she left Epic because they were cramming music down her throat that she didn't like, she obviously doesn't care about becoming a music superstar, she's already a celebrity.

Let's be honest, Mandy Moore isn't[/b] a record-selling artist. I'll bet those sales are exaggerated. She can be a good artist and not sell records, that's really not all that matters.

Now that she has been introduced to the singer-songwriter path, she should be more assured and multifarious with her writing. A lot of the songs from her previous album reached a breaking point because they feel rehashed after prolonged listens.

Nope.
She's probably taking her time.
She had 5 films released last year (although 2 of them were delayed projects from previous years) with "Because I Said So", "License To Wed", "Dedication", "Romance and Cigarettes" and "Southland Tales" so all that promoting (along with her concert tour for "Wild Hope") must've taken a lot out of her.

Mandy Moore Splits From Ryan AdamsPosted on July 6th, 2008 By Honey Gillard Talented two-some Miss Mandy Moore & Ryan Adams have officially said goodbye to their relationship, that according to Adams "allowed [them] both to grow and learn more." Adams (33) confirmed the breakup to "OK! magazine", placing the blame on the media attention that surrounded their relationship. "Mandy is one of those genuinely sweet angelic people you wish to meet your whole life," Ryan told OK! in a statement. "I am grateful for our friendship and how it allowed us both to grow and learn more." So what went wrong? Well according to Adams, though he loved Moore, he hated the media attention that she brought with her. "Unfortunately I am allergic to paparazzi and have found the best antidote to that sort of nonsense is staying behind the guitar and typewriter, staying close to my support group of friends and band mates and not engaging in activities that prevent me from taking care of myself or others," he continued. Though rumours of the two's relationship began in March, it was later confirmed that sparks flew between the pair way back in December. The couple did not, however, officially announced their together-ness till May.

Mandy Moore can't help but feel the aloha spirit as she poses with Stitch of Disney's animated flick Lilo and Stitch Thursday during a visit to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom Theme Park in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
