^ I don't think she'll be nominated in any of the General Four.
^ I would love to see I Wish You Well nominated and it would be the most deserving. I actually think she has a shot at winning Best Gospel Performance if they submit it.
^ She's a lock to be nominated for Contemporary R&B Album but her competition isn't Alicia. She'll be included in the Best R&B Album group. Usher (and Mrs. Carter if she releases something before the cut-off date) will be Mariah's strongest competition here.
^ At this point I have no idea about the other R&B categories. It all depends on what she decides to release. It'll be tough for her to pull out a win with Alicia and Usher present. But I Stay In Love and I'll Be Lovin You Long Time and For The Record are all wonderful tracks and should be considered.
^I actually think they will go Pop Vocal with Bye Bye and it might have a chance of making the cut.
^Touch My Body should not be nominated. It's fun and fluffy but most certaintly doesn't need a Grammy.
Verdict: She may score a couple of noms but it'll be hard to walk out with a win.

Record of the Year - "4 Minutes" Song of the Year - "Love Song" Album of the Year - As I Am" BNA - Sara Bareilles Given the history of the grammys that's the most realistic prediction so far.

We still have five more months to go before the cut date, right? I doubt Madonna or Mariah will get any general field nomination. Even "Love Song" will be sort of forgotten by then, but I do agree that "Bleeding Love" is likely to score a ROTY nomination. Anyway, I want Vampire Weekend to score best new artist nomination!

^Alicia won't be getting nomnated for Best Cont R&B Album as her first 2 discs weren't nominated there, but in the standard R&B Album category.
However, the slots for BCRB are arguably already lined-up: Chris Brown, Usher, Janet, Mariah, and possibly Ashanti again. However, any newcomer could knock her out as Emily King did Ciara last year(Estelle perhaps?)

Given the history of the grammys that's the most realistic prediction so far. lol...I beg to differ. Madonna is an under-awarded veteran, Justin Timberlake is a Grammy favorite who's been nomination for ROTY twice. That's a whole lot going in their favor. Alicia Keys is probably THE Grammy's favorite artist right now. She's won in the General Field twice and been nominated several more times. Her album was critically loved and so far is the biggest selling released in the eligibility period. This one is the easiest to call in my opinion. They've already given her everything but the big one. Sara Bareillis is the female singer-songwriter type NARAS goes insane for. "Love Song" was the type of generic catchy tune NARAS goes insane for. She's also been pretty successful on the charts. Not to pat myself too hard on the back, but I think I nailed it. I'll adjust as the eligibility goes on of course.

I think Sarah definitely could be nominated for BNA (and potentially win) but I'd be shocked to see Love Song WIN ROTY or SOTY. And I do think 4 Minutes has a good shot at a ROTY nod.

^Well, she was snubbed in Britain despite massive success, so it wouldn't surprise me if she walked away from the grammys empty handed.

She did and it wouldn't surprise me if the grammys did the same. Amy Winehouse won 5 Grammy this year despite having no #1 singles or albums and not even able to give a decent live performance.

I think Alicia is looking towards at least 8 nominations including Album of the Year. Leona has a good, I mean GOOD chance of winning that Best New Artist Category. I also agree, TMB will not be nominate that many times. Maybe Best R&B Song, (though I really believe Alicia will win that one with LYNSMA), but definitely not song of the year. I believe that one will go to Leona. But I wouldn't be suprised is Chris was nominated for With You.

^^ they could give the big award to some 1 random who no one knows, the grammys are notorious for that.

^Well, she was snubbed in Britain despite massive success, so it wouldn't surprise me if she walked away from the grammys empty handed. She was nominated for 4, two of which were voted for by the public. Single of the Year is voted for on the night and usually goes to the group/artist with the largest fanbase - Take That won unsurprisingly. The other public vote was Best New Artist and is voted for by listeners of Radio 1 so tends to have an Indie slant - she never had a chance in that. The two critics awards she was up for were Best Album and Best Female - she shouldn't even have been nominated for Best Album, it had the feeling of "well she broke the debut record so she must be in there" - Best Female she had a chance of if it wasn't for the fact that her album was released only a week or two before the voting took place and had literally done one or two live TV performances in the year and no gigs. The record company would have been better holding off from the awards in 08 and waiting for 09 (there's an overlapping 15 month eligibility period). There's no genre awards in the UK, they're all general awards so it's a tough field.

Exactly, Sara Bareillis will win BNA for that reason. Watch her win song of the year too. The grammys are a joke as history has shown. All you have to do is look at the list of winners over the years, I bet most people have never even heard about some of these names.

I can see this happening. Another male artist with a shot at these is probably Brad Paisley with "Letter To Me". Also, in the unlikely event that Trisha Yearwood releases "The Dreaming Fields" during the next few months, I can see her beating the guys and gets the country slot in the "Song of the Year" race.

There's no genre awards in the UK, they're all general awards so it's a tough field. I had no idea about that. You're right, her label should have waited until 2009 when she was more established. I think Leona will walk away with at least one award, BNA and Female Pop Vocal being her best chances. She should at least get a nod for ROTY. It's hard to predict so far in advance... anything could happen between now and the time of the ceremony. A lot of people doubted Kelly Clarkson would win her awards, yet she did. I hope the same thing happens for Leona.

Bleeding Love sounds like it's the type of song that might get nominated for SOTY and ROTY, but would never win. I can see Leona getting BNA and Best Pop Female though.

In my smallest opinion, Leona has no chance of winning BNA. She definitely is a Best New Singer, but she hasn't been yet to prove that she deserves Best New Artist.

And how is she meant to prove that she deserves BNA? If Carrie Underwood can win I see no reason Leona can't. Both are talented singers first and foremost, and they have both written bits and pieces.
