Oh, and I think OneRepublic's Stop and Stare will be up for Record and Song, not Apologize. The Grammy's will really pile the noms on for Tedder, and his effective double nominations in both categories will only amp-up the press coverage for him, and therefore the Grammy's. The verison of Apologize that 'hit' isnt eligible (summer 2007 release), and the Grammy's dont want to get into the PR nightmare of explaining why the 'Black' version that was the hit didnt get a nom, but the non-hit 'white' version did. They wont touch that with a 10-foot pole. Yeah, the more I think about it, the more sense it makes for Tedder to walk away with 5 grammies. He has made more impact than anybody else this year.

I've only read a page or two but I think some of you are going to be pretty upset when the nominations are reveled. Happens every year.
Anyway, AOTY will go to Coldplay. The industry wants the second coming of U2 and Coldplay is it.
Other nominees in AOTY.
Robert Plant/Alison Krauss (my darkhorse pick)
Alicia Keys
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Kid Rock will get a nom. The album got a lot of good press/reviews when it was released and his current single is really spurring album sales. I don't like this guy or his music but at the same time I think he's as good as the Foo Fighters (highly overrated band). So if the FF can get nominated for everything they put out, I certainly think Kid Rock deserves his one lifetime nomination in this category.
That leaves one free spot....country or hip-hop? I have no idea who it could be. What's left on the release schedule through Sept?

I agree that Alicia and Coldplay will be the big winners this year...but what about Jay-Zs American Gangster...the last grammies didnt include that album and the press reviews and buzz couldnt have been more positive...I def see some of the rap nods going his way and possibly even an AOTY nod.

I think she'll get Pop Female Vocal too. I can't see who would beat her there. Well, if X-ina with a crappy song and vocal can beat out Natasha and a great song and vocal as happened last year, I think just about anything's possible. The Grammy panel tends to botch this one moreso than some other awards. Well, the winners of Female Pop Vocal are usually the most high profile/buzzworthy of the nominees. Christina definitely was the most high profile/buzzworthy nominee that year and so her win wasn't surprising imo. I think Leona definitely fits that description this year.

I think Tha Carter III likely getting an AOTY nod will hurt Jay-Z's chances though it'd be great to see him get nominated since he never has been before and American Gangster was a great album.
I think for Leona - nods for ROTY, BNA, Pop Female Vocal, Pop Vocal Album...I'm not sure what she can win, she'll probably get Pop Female Vocal unless they wanna give it to Duffy.
Rumors, I actually don't think you are crazy for the Kid Rock prediction. He's no lock but I wouldn't be shocked. It seems like Coldplay, Lil Wayne & Alicia are the best set-up for a nod...then, there's KR, Jack Johnson, Duffy, Jay-Z/Nas/Lupe Fiasco, Chris Brown (huge pop/rhythmic act ala Usher/BSB/Justin getting AOTY nods), The Raconteurs (cool choice) and then all the old folks.
Pop Vocal Collabo - who is more likely to win - 4 Minutes or No Air?
Best New Artist - who is more likely to win - Leona Lewis or OneRepublic?
Best Alternative Album - who is more likely to be nominated - N.E.R.D. or Gnarls Barkley? Or both? Can one of them win?
Is Lil Wayne a lock to win Rap Album and Coldplay a lock for Rock Album?
Can Alanis get any nominations? Pop Female Vocal? Pop Vocal Album?
Disturbia for a Record of the Year nod? Dance Recording win?

I think OneRepublic (mainly because of Ryan) should get Best New ARTIST rather than Leona. Leona though seems to be the most deserving (so far) for Best Pop Female VOCAL.

btw, i think Leona could be the big winner at the Grammy..I hope Better In Time could be nominate too, but i don't think so... and if Chris Brown release "Superhuman" soon, i think he could have two nominations in Best Pop Collaboration w/ Vocal category, and maybe The Record / Song of the Year..i hope

Could Jordin be nominated for Best Pop Vocals for No Air, or are duets excluded? I don't think she'd win, mind you, but I think her vocals on that track are nomination-worthy.

"no air" maybe nominated for Best Pop Collaboration w/ vocals, but i dont think "no air" could b nominated for Best Female Pop Vocals, bcuz i think it should be a solo female performance (Tattoo, OSAAT)..maybe .. that's what i think about that...

ColdPlay They are definitely gonna get multiple nominations, including Album and Record of the Year. I predict AT LEAST 5 nods.
Alicia Keys. Well, As i Am is eligable. So are all the singles after No One. She will win Best R&B Album. That i think is THE Award that everyone already knows the winner of. But as for Album of the Year? I highly doubt she will get the nomination. Maybe due to the fact that its the bestselling album of the year?

And Alicia might score a nomination for Best Female R&B vocal for Like Youll never see me again. So will Keyshia Cole, Erykah Badu and Mariah. That is for sure!

I really think Jack Johnson will get a AOTY nod. That's pretty incredible that he has the best-selling album of the year.

She will probably win one or two, and probably a nomination for ROTY. And "Better in Time" probably won't see a nomination either. Leona is going to enter the pop categories and she can only submit one song per category, and Bleeding Love is going to be that song. As for Chris Brown, his nominations will be resrticed to some vocal performances (No Air is likely to grab a nomination, maybe he can pull of a male R&B or Male Pop vocal nom with another song) but that's it.

Cold Play, Jack Johnson, The Eagles, Alicia Keys and Lil' Wayne are sure to get nominations! Thats a fact. Leona Lewis will get her 4 nods, but winning them will be out of the question. Maybe Best Female Pop Vocal for Bleeding Love. That she might win.
No Air will get the nod for Pop Collaboration, but Madonna and Justin will probably win it.
Alicia will win Best R&B Album. She might even score Best Female R&B vocal and Best R&B Song nominations for Like youll never see me again, but i doubt she will win them since she won them this year already. Grammy voters are tricky,
Coldplay will get Album, Song and Record of the Year nods. As well as the Rock Categories. They might even end up being the big winners of the night!
But what ever happens, i know this is the Grammies to watch cause all the big ones will be in.
Cant wait!

The Grammy cutoff date this year is September 30. If Beyonce drops a single in September, only the single will be eligible to be nominated.

^Depends on sales/hype. Lil Wayne is HUGE and got awesome reviews for his album.
What about Radiohead getting an AOTY nod?

I think the token country songs in the top categories will either be "Your Gonna Miss This", "Just a Dream", or "Our Song"
I expect these three songs to be the front runners for country song of the year as well

Let me just say that I purchased the Coldplay album this weekend. What a huge waste of $10. This album is a big step backwards for the group. I had heard Viva and VH. Those are the only two songs that I could even listen to. I'm all for a little mellow music but this was way too much. What happened to a little rock? There's very little you can even tap your foot to here. Better take some No Doz if you go see them play this album in a live setting.
I'm sure they will win AOTY and thousands of other awards around the globe but they won't deserve it. When Martin does sing it's barely audible. I like to hear a vocalist. And who knows if he even is a good lyrists. No lyrics in the liner notes, not a lot of singing on these songs, and when there is singing you can't hear it.

I don't know about Metro Station. They will probably have at least one "teen" nominee though, Miley Cyrus or The Jonas Brothers. Miley seems more likely since she seems to be more connected. (Even presenting at last year's Grammys)

AOTY - Coldplay, Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, Jack Johnson ROTY - Apologize, Viva La Vida, Superwoman SOTY - Bleeding Love, Viva La Vida BNA - Leona Lewis, OneRepublic, Metro Station, Estelle
Female Pop Vocal - the competition would prob be boiled down to the rivalry btw Leona and Natasha, though Sara Barellis and Rihanna still remain a threat to those two.
Male Pop Vocal - Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz (hope he gets at least a nod for this one), Gavin DeGraw, Chris Brown (for Forever or With You), and Ne-Yo for Closer
Pop Collab - undoubtedly, it's a game for No Air and 4 Minutes, Maroon 5 / Rihanna (slim chance)
For R&B Category - Usher, Robin Thicke, Mariah, Alicia Keys, Keyshia Cole, The-Dream (hope Keyshia Cole gets her first grammy in 2009 - Alicia needs to stop when it comes to awards)
For Rock Category - 3DD, Coldplay, Disturbed, Weezer, The Eagles (Well, Disturbed will def get a nod for Hard Rock performance, right?) and Coldplay's night comes in.
As for country Scene, Talyor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Trace Adkins, Miranda Lambert, Kenny and so many other acts..
For Rap/Sung Collab - Plies, Usher, Rick Ross, etc.
But one important thing is, we don't really know what's gonna happen during the remaining eligibilty period - we're expecting so many huge comebacks this fall/winter
we have The Fray, Kelly Clarkson, Oasis, Whitney Houston, T-Pain, Daniel Powter, John Legend, Keri Hilson, Buckcherry cashing in soon!!!
