After hearing both of the Razor N' Guido mixes in high quality, I think they made the best club-oriented mixes of the song. The dub is really good. It has just enough of the vocals. The loops and vocal drops that they chose for the mix are really fun.

Now, not to stir the pot, because I know that's not OK around here... but do you really think she's homophobic?
I've never gotten that vibe from her. I don't know, maybe I'm ignoring or missing something.

Haha. Homophobic. It's a fun song that shouldn't be taken so literally. Let's have a sense of humor people.

Now, not to stir the pot, because I know that's not OK around here... but do you really think she's homophobic? I've never gotten that vibe from her. I don't know, maybe I'm ignoring or missing something. LOL! I have to really wait a while before replying, as dirk's reply really ticked me off. I'm sure Jamie did not mean it that way. I HATE when people reply to your own opinion with things such as "let's have a sense of humor people". Are these really the only options? You have to like it, and if you don't, well then you don't have a sense of humour. Replies like that are incredibly insulting. Is it possible, perhaps, to have a sense of humour and still dislike / be offended at this talentless w***e? If you find it "funny" and stuff like that, well, that's all peachy, but don't tell others how they should feel about it, no? I don't know about others, but my sense of humour is above toilet humour and such. But that's just me. Now Mr. Chaotic... I suppose you can never be sure of such things, no? Now, if you have been living under a rock ( ), you might not know how Katy Perry is dividing the gay community. Did you hear her previous single, "U R So Gay"? Anyway, I found this great article that might be of help to you: ______________________________________________________________________www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/aug/08/popandrock.gayrightsChart-topping lesbian love song divides gay communityMark Brown, arts correspondent The Guardian, Friday August 8 2008 She is frothy and catchy and fun or she is demeaning to gay people. Either way singer Katy Perry is expected to go to number one this weekend with a record about lesbian passion that is dividing parts of the gay community. Perry's I Kissed A Girl is number one in the US and has been outselling all other singles in the UK, played all over the radio and in bars - straight and gay - up and down the country. The song - about her pleasurable guilt at kissing a girl - might have passed unremarked had it not been for Perry's previous single, UR So Gay: a rant against her boyfriend for "acting gay" when he's not. Some bloggers in the US are decided. On the MSNBC site, contributor Tony Sclafani writes: "Well, it's official. It's cool to make fun of gay people again. How do we know? Because the folks in Medialand told us as much by relentlessly cheerleading two gay-unfriendly songs by newcomer Katy Perry." On UR So Gay she opens with the lines: "I hope you hang yourself with your H&M scarf/While jacking off listening to Mozart." Jane Czyzselska, editor of lesbian lifestyle magazine Diva, admitted she was torn. "I don't think she's being homophobic. I think she might be a bit dumb ... a bit un-self-aware. The kind of behaviour you get from some privileged people - 'oh I didn't realise'. Perhaps she doesn't know any gay people who have suffered verbal or physical abuse." She said the previous record was more problematic because of the issue of the word gay being used in such a pejorative way - as in unpopular - in the playground. The gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell said he liked the music but found the lyrics dubious. "They're not seriously homophobic but they can be read as implicitly demeaning gay people. I am sure Katy would get a critical reception if she expressed comparable sentiments in a song called 'UR so black, Jewish or disabled'. Should there be different standards for lyrics about gay issues, as opposed to race and disability issues? I don't think so. Having said this, the homophobia of some reggae, rap and ragga music is far worse. Some of these songs explicitly incite the murder of lesbians and gays. They are much more offensive than any lyrics sung by Katy Perry." The chief executive of Stonewall, Ben Summerskill, said: "The lyrics are slightly demeaning to gay people but it validates the reality of a lot of gay people's lives." He added: "Sometimes that degree of honesty is no bad thing and that's not for one moment to be taken as saying it's acceptable for some of the more extreme rappers to justify themselves." Perry, whose parents are both Protestant pastors, has said she was not aiming to alienate gay listeners. In an interview with the US New Gay website, when it was put to her that she had annoyed many gay people, she said: "That's unfortunate. It's not what I came to do." ______________________________________________________________________Now... you can decide for yourself!

If Madonna likes her, how can she be dividing the gay community? I don't really like "I kissed a girl" and am surprised it is so popular in gay clubs since most gay guys don't like to think about girls kissing(and most gay clubs are full of gay guys, not lesbians.) here in Dallas for example, there is a lesbian club so there are basically none in the gay (guy) club! I just think the song is boring and I hate that the line "hope my bf don't mind it" because "won't" would have been a better word choice. p.s. guys can wear cherry chapstick too!

at first i thought that this song was cute in its kind of encouraging bi-curious/homo-erotic desires, then i realized that the only reason why this song was accepted by modern radio was because we live in a patriarchal society lol. this song would never have been as big had it been a guy singing about kissing guys. all in a day!

I'm so torn about this song. It's *kinda* catchy. I spin to mixed crowd of Gay Men and Lesbians.
I got a few requests last time I spun for it, all by young women. I didn't play it.
I'm also torn on the mixes. Kinda like the Nevins the most, Scotty K a close second.
Personally at this point, I think the song is so played out that it's not going to matter much soon. And after reading that article, I probably won't play it anyways: I don't want to piss off my dancefloor.

Is it possible, perhaps, to have a sense of humour and still dislike / be offended at this talentless w***e? Sure, but can't we be of the opinion that you in fact don't have a sense of humor and that the author's article was one of the dumbest things I've ever read on here?

1. If Madonna likes someone they can still be homophobic. Unfortunately she is not the mecca of all things gay and good. 2. Swede does have a sense of humor and like most of the sane and normal posters around here knows when to lighten up and calm down. 3. Just because a guy couldn't get away with singing "I Kissed A Boy" and have it go #1 doesn't mean that the female version is homophobic. 4. The authors' article is not one of the dumbest things ever written/posted here, we have other members to thank for that. 5. I Kissed A Girl fills dance floors with gay men, straight women and lesbians a like around here. If a straight man were in a gay bar, I'm sure he'd probably dance as well. 6. Everyone should refresh themselves on logical fallacies, or if you've never heard of them, study them before you decide to argue. They can be found neatly outlined for all reading-levels at www.logicalfallacies.info

Personally, I think pop music is supposed to be fun and "I Kissed A Girl" is a fun song. Also...speaking as a Gay man, the song does not offend me in the slightest and I don't think it's homophobic. Obviously, everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion...Swede included Sorry to tick you off Swede!

And that other person can bait all he wants. Ultimately, does anyone really see Katy Perry as more than a one-hit wonder / one-hit-album wonder?

Sad that "I Kissed A Girl", no matter how huge of a single it is, is making people think the girl has no talent. I've followed her loosely since she was featured in an MTV You Oughtta Know back in '05/'06. "Waking Up In Vegas" was the track she had written and was getting the press for, and that gem of a song is on the "One Of The Boys" album. That song itself proves to me this girl has a future. It's a shame she had to use a "novelty" track to do it, but at least it's a quality number with great melodies. It sets the path for her other melody driven pop/rock numbers and hopefully a strong second album. She really shouldn't be underestimated in my mind, she's hands down the best new artist since Rihanna as far as pop music is concerned.

Well, you never know, now do you? She might suprise the naysayers (although I doubt it). Remember Donna Summer, Cyndi Lauper, Kylie Minogue and Madge The Vadge were considered a "flash-in-the-pan". I have to admitt...I really love single #2..."Hot'n'Cold." Don't you mean single No. 3?
