me too. All her mainstream top 40 releases have been great. My favorite is Breathe.

I was wondering what happened to her. Way for her career to take a nose dive. I wonder if she can come back from this.

So my theory is that she's going back to her Pop roots. Here's why I think so: - Her blog hinted that she's received criticism for trying to 'go Country' (''So many people crossed my path and gave their two cents about who I was and what I should sound like, that by the end of the day my original vision had been lost and buried.'')
- She didn't mention 'Different Kind of Country' at all, which makes me think that won't be the new album title after all. Remember, Different Kind of Country was supposed to be the rest of ECAG plus new songs. Her blog seems to suggest that idea has been ditched and a completely new album is being started.
- She's working with new pop/rock producers and is going to London to work with Rob Cavallo, a pop-rock producer. Why would she go to London to work on Country songs?
Honestly, if it's true, then it's the right decision, IMHO. If she had stayed pop/rock I think she could have had the potential to be as big as Avril or Kelly.

If she went right into the pop/rock a few years ago I would agree with you, but I think too much time has passed. I'm not sure if she can get right back into the pop/rock wagon. When will this next album be released? 2011? most likely 2012? Her relevance will be a big issue.

I would be more than happy if she went back to pop. I don't think she would have an issue at all with doing so either. If she would come back into pop, people will remember who she is, and will be happy to hear new music from her. There's one thing people love a lot, and that's a comeback.

We'll see how Avril does. Xtina didn't do too well as well but then again I don't think Michelle is as polarizing as those two.

It most certainly is. Really, though, it's one of my favorite songs of all-time. I think she does the pop/rock sound so well, and without the help of Max Martin.

Yeah; I too hope she's coming back to pop/rock instead of country. It's been what, seven years now?, and I still enjoy "Hotel Paper" (and I just recently got the three bonus songs from that, so I've been listening to those recently). Crossing my fingers...

Her solo version of Lay Me Down is soooooo great. I think that could have been a single and done really well. Guess we'll know more after her UStream on Dec 21st!

I personally think she should stick with country with the upcoming album. The few songs that came out of the project were excellent, and I think her voice is suited well for the genre.

I think the only way Michelle Branch will achieve large scale success again was with the Wreckers. The had a special unique niche. I wish they would reunite. They split after a platinum album and two hit songs. No logic. Both have since failed.

I think if they get back together they can make some great music, that will actually get released, and find success with it, too. I loved Jessica Harp's solo album... its my favorite country release this year... but I'd rather see them back together again as a duo.

I'd love for them to get back together too, but unfortunately I don't think it'll ever happen. They don't seem to be that close anymore, sadly.

^Agreed. I wish more Michelle fans would have supported Jessica's post-Wreckers career. It was a tr00ly great album. I was :shaking+crying: when she announced her retirement. :'( :'(

I hope she doesn't go full blown (today's radio) pop; I'm fine with her going back to her acoustic pop-rock style, but I really hope she doesn't end up going an electro route to stay relevant. I wonder if they're going to have a wait and see approach and watch how Avril's comeback performs...? Or she might do well with a Sara Bareilles-type album. ^Agreed. I wish more Michelle fans would have supported Jessica's post-Wreckers career. I thought it was actually kind of sad when a lot of fans were acting like you had to choose sides and only like one or the other after that whole incident. I wish they would have been at least able to keep the Wreckers as a side project.

She did do a song with Timbaland producing that sounded like she was going in that direction. Wasn't very good. I hope she does something acoustic-pop with a slight country flare not unlike Jewel's 'This Way' record or a lot of Sheryl Crow stuff.

It wasn't too informative, but here are the main things she talked about in the live chat for those who don't wanna watch it all. - She said one the reasons Everything Comes and Goes was never released, was because some people at her label didn't think it was 'Country' enough. She hopes the rest of the album will get heard, but it's unlikely.
- In terms of genre, new album will be in the same vein as The Spirit Room.
- She said Getaway will probably be on the new album...
- ''Through the Radio'' was the only song from EC&G that she hopes to get reworked for the new album
- If she had her way, the new album would come out in the Summer.
She also joked about forming a country trio with Kelly and Miranda :kii:

This news just made my night! SO HAPPY RN. :'( If Kelly and P!nk can have hits with their sounds, I've no doubt that Michelle can get another CHR hit.

Michelle Branch: "Texas in the Mirror" is a song that I've had for years. I wrote it around the time I was recording Hotel Paper, but it seemed out of place with the rest of the material. When I was in my band The Wreckers, we'd play it live from time to time, and a lot of you really loved it - especially my fans in Texas ;) It was finally recorded for Everything Comes and Goes, but that came and went and it never made it on to the 6 song EP. So now, without further adieu I give you "Texas in The Mirror."
I hope it was worth the wait!
xo, MDOWNLOAD: www.michellebranch.com/blog/michelle/download-my-new-song-texas-mirror--------------------------------------------------------- So that's 8 songs from Everything Comes and Goes (EP + 'This Way' and now, 'Texas in the Mirror'). I wonder if we'll slowly get the rest. 5 more to go! :kii:

You know what's weird to me. That she can take forever on a project and not really deliver it and then turn around and get something out in 6 months. I'll believe it when I see it.

^You say that as if it's her fault she didn't 'deliver' it. She fought as hard as she could to get 'Everything Comes and Goes' released. If it weren't for her protestations against her label, I doubt they would have even released 6 of the songs as an EP. Not to mention she pushed for more songs from the album to be released free to fans. She's doing everything she can in a fickle and bureaucratic industry. Honestly, I believe she's doing everything in her power to release a new album this year and let's just be grateful she's in a position to be creating music for fans.

Of course it's not MB alone and her label was a major impediment. Maybe because she's doing pop/rock they are more motivated. Who knows. It's just weird how quick she and her label can get material out if they wanted. It means a single in April?
