I'm not all that fond of counting situations where an artist tags on a song they previously had a hit with as a featured artist on to the end of their albums as a bonus track. It seems kind of like cheating, even moreso than re-releasing an album and having the new tracks be singles.

Whitney Houston et. al The Bodyguard (5) I Will Always Love You (1) I'm Every Woman (4) I Have Nothing (4) Run To You (31) Queen Of The Night (36) - Air It's Gonna Be A Lovely Day (34) - S.O.U.L. System i thought Run To You hit #21 not #31. I believe he was talking about that, although I also believe #31 is correct. #6 for Bryan Adams in 1984 off the album Reckless

LOL: I know
When I saw the song title, that was the first album I thought of though (which also happens to be kisted in this thread)
Anyway, #31 for the Whitney Houston song is correct

I just, recently, discovered this thread. Earlier this year, I created a similar thread over in the CHR/Pop forum: pulsemusic.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=pop&action=display&thread=8429My listing is, of course, based on the R&R (and, now, Mediabase) pop chart data. Since the Hot 100 was, for all intents and purposes, a pop chart prior to 1992, there's a lot of crossover here. R&R also charted airplay only songs (which, prior to the late 90s, were inelligible for inclusion on the Hot 100). In my listings, Janet Jackson comes out as the clear winner with 8 top 40 hits off of Rhythm Nation 1814.

Didn't Expose break a record for like 8 straight top 10 hits? Yes, when "Tell Me Why" went to number 9, they had scored seven consecutive Top 10 smashes, starting with their debut single, which no other group had achieved before. I wonder if their record still holds today. Isn't it funny that Richard Marx, Taylor Dayne and Exposé all started collecting hits in 1987-88, and their very first seven singles all went Top 10, but their 8th single peaked in the Top 20 and in 1990?

Didn't Expose break a record for like 8 straight top 10 hits? For a career, they only had 8, 7 of which were consecutive but, from separate albums

I read your reply, thanks. I was just answering the question about the record, which was not answered. :)

If you're reading this, I hope you didn't quit your membership on my account ???
The question asked about them setting a record for 8 STRAIGHT top 10 hits?
Your reply to that was "yes"
I reposted my reply to clarify.
Anyway, hope that helps.

Personally I'd reclassify those who have had hits of re-relesed albums. Thus:
Rihanna Good Girl Gone Bad (6)
would become:
Rihanna Good Girl Gone Bad (4+2)
and would be higher than all 4 hit albums and 4+1 albums but lower than 5 hit albums.

This whole thread is based on Billboard data. In the case of these reissues (Mariah Carey, Usher, Rihanna, etc), the reissue was considered the same album as the original and did not chart separately.
Since the albums did not chart separately, I considered them all one album for this list.

I appreciate that 2m, and all the hard work you put in to keep this and other data current and accurate.
I was just stating my personal preference.
I worry that eventually we'll see reissues of reissues spawning hits months down the line with no real connection to the original album, and it would be a shame (to me) to see landmark albums knocked off the higher echelons of these charts through what might be termed "subterfuge".

Did Carrie break any records for having 4 #1 country songs from one album?

I don't think that's being tracked in this thread, but I do think she's very close to having the most consecutive #1's on the country chart.

Taylor Swift will break the all time record, no? Her whole album looks set to chart. She only needs three more top 40 hits to make it and White Horse is a def. So she needs two more...
Change Love Story You're Not Sorry You Belong With Me Fearless White Horse + Forever & Always and 1 more

But they weren't technically promoted singles, just iTunes releases.
She will still be the artist with the most singles/album cuts charted on the Hot 100 though.

Ugh, I wish IINSYFA (Rihanna and Maroon 5) had peaked 11 spots higher. Then she would for sure have the record.

Meanwhile, six songs from "Fearless" will debut on tomorrow’s Billboard Hot 100, led by "White Horse" at No. 13. "Horse" is her sixth top 20 debut of 2008, a calendar year record for any artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100. In addition, her six debuts and seven total tracks on tomorrow chart each tie her with Hannah Montana for the most by a female artist in a single week. Of the 13 tracks on "Fearless," 11 have now spent time on the Hot 100.

It's stupid that one of her songs that debuted really high last week and fell by like 90% in sales counts as a top 20 hit.

I'll review the top 40 peaks of each song after the new list comes out and update for taylor Swifts album accordingly.
Due to the difficulty of the task, I won't be doing a list of Hot 100 songs per album

The lists in this thread are based on chart peaks, not average position over time. So if because of itunes, a song is #11 one week and #87 the next week, so be it. It still counts

It's a shame.

If a song is #3 for that week, it is the 3rd most popular song for that week, regardless of where it charts the next week. Plain and simple. Not sure why this is a difficult concept.
These statistics are not measuring which "hit" is bigger than the other over time. This is just about peaks.

^ Exactly.
This is 2008 and now digital sales play a huge part. It is the new way for the Hot 100 chart. It keeps up with the current trends. Back in the day when airplay was such a huge factor, you could use the complaint that certain artists get played too much just like when certain artists songs sell a lot in a week then drop.
