^ I think they were going to let her come to the grammys, so I bet by now, she has permission to come to the US. I think it would be very cool if Amy attended-- as long as she stays clean and keeps it together. She needs to get her act together because she is very talented...and it is a shame to see that go to waste.

I'd LOVE to see Amy perform a new single but more than anything, I want her to get herself together. If coming here and rushing a public performance is going to hurt her, she honestly shouldn't do. That being said, I wish her the fastest recovery possible and if that means being ready for a September performance of new material, that'd be the best!

Well at the moment they've resorted to locking her in her house and posting a security guard outside to try and stop her drug taking. She was woeful at the Mandela concert and Glastonbury. I wouldn't bank on any new material soon.

It's sad to think that the last memorable thing to happen at a VMA show was 5 years ago, "the kiss" at the 2003 show. (Outside of embarassing trainwreck performances and the like, of course.)

I agree that the last truly good VMA show was 2003. Everything changed after that. The last straw for me were those ridiculous categories, I mean that was a LOW for even a post-peak network like MTV. And now they're doing the show from all these different settings?? Just do it on a normal stage in front of an audience. And whatever you guys may say about last years VMAs and Britney, EVERYONE was talking about it the next day, and that probably would've happened whether the performance was really good and ended up being her official comeback, or if it was a total disaster which is what it became. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you a SINGLE THING that happened after that first five minutes in that year's VMA show, other than that Kid Rock/Tommy Lee fight which wasn't even part of the show. Whether you like it or not they NEED a serious controversy or major event to go on (planned or not) to save it from their slow death.
And speaking of, did the 2003 VMAs do THAT BADLY that made them want to change so many things the following years??

Jonas Brothers To Perform At 2008 MTV Video Music Awards Nominees -- chosen by you -- to be revealed every Friday night during 'FNMTV.'They've toured with the likes of Kelly Clarkson and Miley Cyrus, there are posters of them tacked up in the rooms of preteen girls nationwide, and now, the Jonas Brothers are all set to take this year's MTV Video Music Awards by storm. On the Friday night (July 18) episode of "FNMTV," it was revealed that Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas would be performing at the 25th annual VMAs; the show will air live, and only once in its original incarnation, on September 7 at 9 p.m. This year's host, as well as additional performers and presenters, will be announced in the coming weeks. "This is an awesome opportunity," the Jonas Brothers collectively said in a press release. "We have grown up watching all the amazing and iconic performances on the VMAs. It is an honor to be a part of something so incredible." In addition to the Jonas Brothers' set, MTV also announced that they would be letting VMA viewers in on all the nomination fun this year. Every Friday night, during "FNMTV," two new award categories will be revealed, and viewers will be asked to vote for their favorite artists and videos at VMA.MTV.com.Then, on the following week's show, the finalists will be declared as the official nominees for that category. The first two categories fans will be able to vote on are Best Male Video and Best Female Video. Ballots for the 2008 VMAs are also being sent to an exclusive group of industry insiders, who'll help determine the nominees for the telecast. "The VMAs have a long, sometimes twisted, always musical history of monumental moments that define each year, and this year will be no exception," said Van Toffler, the president of MTV Networks. "By empowering our audience to help determine this year's nominees, taking over L.A.'s famed movie studio and back lot for the summer's hottest artists to perform, your bet is as good as mine as to what may happen."

Russell Brand to host the MTV Video Music Awards
NEW YORK (AP) - MTV is staking its brand on a lesser-known one: Russell Brand.
The British actor and comedian will host this year's Video Music Awards, set to air live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on Sept. 7.
Brand recently co-starred in the Judd Apatow-produced comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and the Reese Witherspoon-produced fairy tale "Penelope." He is currently filming the Adam Sandler comedy "Bedtime Stories," slated for release later this year.
Brand recently co-starred in the Judd Apatow-produced comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and the Reese Witherspoon-produced fairy tale "Penelope." He is currently filming the Adam Sandler comedy "Bedtime Stories," slated for release later this year.
MTV hired Brand to be a VJ on its Britain-based show "Dance Floor Chart" after catching his comedy act in Edinburgh, Scotland. He also hosted a call-in show called MTV Select.
Brand has hosted numerous TV shows and events in the U.K., performed sell-out comedy gigs and written a best-selling memoir, "My Booky Wook," published last year.
His popular radio show, The Russell Brand Show, debuted two years ago in the U.K., and his TV show "Ponderland" was recently nominated by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in the "Best Comedy Programme" category.
In 2007, he continued on the comedy circuit with his hit show "Only Joking." He also made his feature film debut - in Britain, of course - in 2007's "St. Trinian's," opposite Colin Firth, Rupert Everett and Emily Watson.
Previous VMA hosts include Jack Black, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon and Jamie Foxx.
As previously announced, the teen pop trio The Jonas Brothers will perform at the anything-can-happen event. Other performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.

They need to get a female to host. Kathy Griffin, Amy Sedaris, or Amy Poehler.

Russel Brand? Oh no. He's that guy with the messy hair that hosts all those Big Brother UK after shows.

Wow, Mimi. Wow. From FMQB: So far, Carey is only scheduled to perform at the Teen Choice Awards on August 4 and the Fashion Rocks Awards on September 5. There is no word yet on if she will perform at MTV's Video Music Awards, but she hopes to at least attend the event. "I don't own a Moonman [from] this country," she said. "Isn't that an abusive situation?" Carey hopes this year will be different since her fans are currently waging a campaign to get her clip for "Touch My Body" nominated for Best Female Video. "I have faith in my fans," she said. "I believe they will come through for me, because they always have." Carey does own two MTV Japan VMA awards. Carey said she would be happy to attend the VMAs even if she doesn’t win the award. "I haven't really gone, I've only performed," adding that "I will make it this year" to the Los Angeles ceremony on September 7. Yes Mimi, I understand... you're waiting for your Moonman the same way I'm waiting for my Emmy. I'm really hoping that metrosexual Seacrest doesn't swipe it away from me! >:( >:(
