Um...I am DUMB AS HELL for sleeping on Mario. I just listened to the clips of this album, not having heard any of it before, no singles, no anything and WOW. 4 songs made me actually tear up. I think that I am going to have to run to Best Buy to get this tonight, even thought I was just there earlier buying Drag Me To Hell. I think you and the rest of the world slept on Mario's album considering what the predicted 1st week sales are going to be. I think the album is great even though most of the songs leaked already very classy album not all about sex except one song a lot of heart felt songs on their. I so hope he releases "Ooh Baby" and "Stranded" as his next singles. Even "I choose you" needs to be a single for pop radio.

Too bad another strong song, "Don't Walk Away," didn't thrust itself into the "Hit Em Up Style" cover it seemed destined for. I hoped I wasn't the only one that noticed the similarity. I think "I Choose You" and "Stranded" can work as singles. "I Choose You" is typical Stargate but I think it will perform well on pop radio. Maybe Top 20? I don't think it will be as massive as Chris Brown's "With You". Mario could use a ballad for the third single which is "Stranded". I can't stop playing "Thinkin About You" and "Ooh Baby".

Well, whatever. I atoned for my sins and made my roommate drive me in the rain and double park on the way to get some green just so I could get this album, 15 min before Worst Buy closed. I am excited but I will have to wait til tomorrow to play it. The cashier was going nuts over it and was like "Dayum, he so fine" and "I didn't know he had a new aboom"

I love you. I love Mario's slow jams and enjoyed "Break-Up". "Thinking About You" is hot too. I am contemplating picking this up. I'll have to give it a pre-listen to be sure. I may be broke though so he may be relegated to the Christmas list.

This is just ridiculous, D.N.A. is such a great album, and it does have a hit, what is going on out there?

HITS is now predicting 25-30k for the opening week, which could give him a Top 10 debut.
I still don't know what to say, but I think they should have sent "Thinkin' About You" at Pop too prior to the album's release, instead of trying to cross "Break Up" over.

^ Okay a little better but still horrible. Anyway the album is out now and he needs to promote heavy right now. I know in a interview he did not too long ago he said he was going perform on the Wendy Williams show and on Regis and Kelly the week of the release album maybe that's happening next week or something cause i have not seen him on those shows yet i know he's busy on the tour right now but the tv performances needs to come asap. How the hell Michael Buble get to go on Oprah the day of his album release he don't even have a story LOL. Mario needs to be on every t.v. out let he can possibly be on right now.

^Yeah, I agree, he should be hitting up Wendy, Regis & Kelly, and some of the late night shows as well. Maybe the album will have legs when he starts doing promo. But, he needs to be on Twitter going crazy promoting the album, like other stars have done. Gosh, the songs I have heard so far are really good.

I may be broke though so he may be relegated to the Christmas list. Oh, D. If only you were a couple years old and had a vag. LOL. I love you anyway like overloaded breast. Seriously, I listened to the clips on ITUNES and I had never even heard Break Up. Based on the clips alone, I ran out to buy it. I have only gotten through the first few songs but damn, this kid is on fire. I remember buying the first CD for my brother when he was in elementary school because he loved Just A Friend. The CD came with a poster and he actually put it on his wall. I never copied the CD from him. I slept on the rest of Mario's albums but I LOVED Let Me Love You and HATED Crying Out For Me but maybe I need to listen to Go! now. The cover of Go! scared me so though. It reminded me of M. Night Shamalamadingdong's "The Village". D.N.A.'s cover is much better - more badass to match the explicit lyrics.

He needs to be on their he really don't tweet much i know your a low key guy and all but the release week of your album you need to be on their 24/7 and on Ustream day and night. He needs to learn how to promote his self. Look at Trey Songz he was tweetin right before he was about to go on stage last night. Mario do like 2 or 3 tweets a day or responds to a few fans then call quits for a day or two then come back on and do the same thing again LOL i take it he's not a internet person. If they start promoting this album more it could pick up. Because a lot of people on twitter was saying they didn't even know he had an album out . I blame j records for the lack of promotion for the album. They better get him some t.v. performances next week so this album can pick up.

I still cannot believe that he is only going to sell 30k the first week out. It is ridiculous. He definitely is talented and had a hit single that blew up Urban radio this summer. What is the problem? Can he ever get a break?

Wow, I definitely thought this would sell well. Break Up was a nice hit for him.
Artists all around are having trouble though.
200k overall will be considered successful a year from now.

His #s are dismal. He has a hit, so he should be doing way better figures than that. Where is the promo? Trey is surpassing him in popularity. Sad.

Well, it's understandable why Trey's album did/is doing better. "Ready" is miles and away better than "D.N.A." plus, this album was released a month after "Break Up" had peaked, there was no promo, and the majority of the album has been out for ages. There are only a handful of good tracks, so hopefully he can at least have some further success at radio.

Mario is also going to be performing on the Alexa Chung show on MTV next week. I wonder why the label decide to get t.v. performances the week after the release of the album anyway this could help boost the sales. Here's the details from the website: On October 19th, Alexa Chung returns to the MTV airwaves at her new time, 3:30PM ET/PT, for a new season of “It’s On with Alexa Chung.” A huge first week of celebrity guests and musical performances kicks off on Monday afternoon with actor (and fellow 2009 MTV Video Music Awards presenter) Gerard Butler, Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr, and a live performance from Tokio Hotel. Throughout the week, viewers will be treated to appearances from a number of music’s biggest artists, including Shakira, Alicia Keys and Paramore, who will grace Alexa’s couch along with Gossip Girl Michelle Trachtenberg, plus a performance from Mario to close out the week. Alexa also leaves the studio for a chat at Chelsea Piers with John Mayer about his new album, what he’d like to do with one of his Grammy’s and a head-to-head game of “Would You Rather.

I REALLY hope he does well. This CD is one of the best R&B albums I have heard in a while, especially for someone Mario's age. I actually prefer this to Usher's "Confessions"

No, you're probably right. He MUST not listen to R&B albums. I think this CD is fantastic and it's a shame he is opening with such sucky numbers. I really hope he gets a pop crossover so his album can at least go gold. It deserves that much.

It's only been my main genre of music since, oh...idk, when I bought my first cassette tape when I was 4 or since before you even HEARD of that man in your avatar. Please, young'n, don't run your mouth when you CLEARLY have NO idea what you are talking about. Thank you.

--9 MARIO J RECORDS/RMG 31,519-- D.N.A. Well hey at least he debuted in the top ten. "Thinkin About You" seems to be doing better on the radio now and the video is MTV jams of the week so that's a good look.

-Mario's fourth album, "D.N.A.," enters at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 with almost 32,000 copies and also bows at No. 2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. It's the singer's second top 10 on the former list and his first since his self-titled debut peaked at No. 9 way back in 2002. His last effort, 2007's "Go," peaked in its debut week at No. 21—but with a much larger sales week: 77,000. (Why? It came out Dec. 11 of that year, in the thick of the competitive holiday shopping season.)
