Here's this week's 90's on 9 countdown from 1998.
5/9/1998 -- 30 Luke featuring No Good but So Good - Raise the Roof (26) 29 29 Paula Cole - I Don't Want to Wait (11) 27 28 Leann Rimes - How Do I Live (2) 18 27 Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz - Deja Vu (Uptown Baby) (9) 25 26 Third Eye Blind - How's It Going to Be (9) 23 25 Janet Jackson - Together Again (1) 17 24 Mase featuring Total - What You Want (6) 22 23 Will Smith - Gettin' Jiggy with It (1) 20 22 Master P featuring Fiend, Silkk the Shocker, Mia X and Mystikal - Make 'Em Say Uhh! (16) 16 21 Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On (1) 19 20 The Lox featuring DMX and Lil' Kim - Money, Power & Respect (18) 21 19 Puff Daddy & the Family - Victory (19) 12 18 Wyclef Jean - Gone Till November (7) 14 17 Usher - Nice & Slow (1) 15 16 Destiny's Child - No, No, No (3) 24 15 Xscape - The Arms of the One Who Loves You (7) 13 14 'N Sync - I Want You Back (13) 09 13 Sylk-E Fine - Romeo and Juliet (6) 10 12 Marcy Playground - Sex and Candy (8) 11 11 Mya - It's All About Me (6) -- 10 Busta Rhymes - Turn It Up (Remix)/Fire It Up (10) 05 09 Madonna - Frozen (2) 04 08 K-Ci & Jojo - All My Life (1) 03 07 Montell Jordan - Let's Ride (2) 06 06 Public Announcement - Body Bumpin' Yippie-Yi-Yo (5) 07 05 Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply (1) 08 04 Backstreet Boys - Everybody (Backstreet's Back) (4) 02 03 Shania Twain - You're Still the One (2) -- 02 Mariah Carey - My All (1) 01 01 Next - Too Close (1)
So long as they're using the Hot 100, I'll use the formatting similar to the AT40 80s thread; the red, however, indicates a debut straight onto the Hot 100.
As you guys alluded to last week, this chart is a prime example of why the Hot 100 doesn't really work for a 90s flashback show. Songs like "Torn" and "3 AM," which were in the top 5 on the same week's Hot 100 Airplay chart, are MIA here because neither had a commercial single. Instead, it's a chart that skews greatly toward R&B and hip-hop.
If they want an suitable alternative to the Hot 100, the ARC weekly top 40 would not be a bad one. I think The Pulse actually used it for their post-Cashbox charts on their short-lived flashback show. Who knows what their methodology is, but it seems to be a reasonable facsimile of the Hot 100 with pop airplay given its due respect.
As for the show itself, it's alright, but it certainly has some room for improvement after two weeks. One major flub occurred when they played Stacy Earl's "Romeo and Juliet" at #13 instead of the Sylk-E Fine song. And not even a closing message after playing the #1 song?

I'll give 90s on 9 some credit: at least they're playing the actual top 30 from the Hot 100, instead of filtering out the R&B, hip-hop, and country songs that didn't really cross over to pop, like Pop2K does. The show itself is getting a little better, but still has a ways to go. It would be nice if the two co-hosts sounded like they cared what songs were playing most of the time, or threw a story in about an artist or song every once in a while.

I've decided that, starting this week, I'll do this formatting for any of the 80s countdowns (provided they continue to use Billboard) from August 13, 1988 onward, since, for the foreseeable future, those will never be covered by Premiere on the American Top 40 reruns.

This weekend's 1991 countdown was the first of the 90s countdowns to feature a playlist that was actually counted down on radio at the time; it was the top 30 of the AT40 songs from June 22, 1991, hosted by Shadoe Stevens. As long as they use the Hot 100, they'll match the Shadoe countdowns (minus #31-40) from January 1990 to November 23, 1991.
The 80s countdown also matched a Shadoe-hosted AT40, though Debbie Gibson filled in for Shadoe on June 24, 1989; ironically none of her three 1989 hits were in it.

I noticed they played Bob Carlisle's version of Butterfly Kisses, despite that not being the version that was on the Hot 100.

The version of Tyler Collins' "Girls Nite Out" was not the same version played on the radio in 1990 (speaking from personal memory.) As the 80s countdown sometimes does, it appears that they played a later or much remixed version; among other differences, the one they played even had applause at the beginning, though it otherwise didn't sound live.
This chart (with ten additional songs, obviously) was used for American Top 40 as hosted by Shadoe Stevens, which isn't being rebroadcast on radio and I doubt will ever be. (If we ever get a Premiere-syndicated 1990s countdown, I think it's more likely to be Casey's Top 40 if possible, since AT40 didn't even exist for three years in the decade.)

Since we were still four months away from Billboard lifting the ban on airplay-only singles from charting on the Hot 100, here's the top 10 of the Hot 100 Airplay chart for comparison. Most of these songs either never got a commercial single or got one late enough to realize a super-high Hot 100 debut.

Of course, this chart is notable for being the last one featured on American Top 40 with Casey Kasem as its host. It probably would've been asking a lot for them to wait another week on this year, since that would've meant almost three full months between instances of this year. Given the higher turnaround at this end of the decade, only two songs from the May 14 episode were still around this week, and those were the first two songs played.
