I actually kinda like this. Very catchy. Yep. Can't wait to see the video. I hope it doesn't have that creepy DJ from "Pon De Replay". He looks like some kind of stalker or something. ???

I quite like this song, but I would be quite surprised if it does anything remarkable.

RIHANNA If It's Lovin' That You Want Producer(s): Poke and Tone Writer(s): various Publisher(s): various Genre: POP Label/Catalog Number: Def Jam (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: August 27, 2005
The season's hottest insta-artist is Barbados-born Rihanna, who has convinced Def Jam president/CEO Jay-Z to make her the rising star of the label's roster. Her debut single, the Caribbean-infused romp "Pon De Replay," took top 40 and R&B/hip-hop radio by storm (topping the Hot Digital Songs sales chart), and the prognosis is as favorable for second single "If It's Lovin' That You Want." The number, produced by TrackMasters (aka Poke and Tone), reinforces Rihanna's tropical reggae signature with an itchy hook that, albeit monotonous, cannot miss. What sets this 17-year-old apart from so many other rapidly rising female R&B singers of late is that—besides her striking beauty—she possesses genuine ability, technically and emotionally. This replay is as much as guaranteed. —Chuck Taylor

I thought so too. I finally heard this track and I hope it's a hit. It's even better than PDR in certain ways.

I actually like this better than her first single, however for new artist the second single is just as important as the first...I think this will do well because it's very different than Pon De Replay and her album may surprise you..I mean she is being mentored by one of the best artist out there(Jay-Z)..Since Pon De Replay peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 there are high expectations..This song has a nice summer feel.

This song sounds so...cheap. I really want her to flop so people can stop talking about her like she's some kind of savior to vocally-challenged r&b singers.
From what I've seen of the video, it looks like Beyonce's "Baby Boy."

I like this way more than "Pon De Replay". It sounds more rooted in traditional reggae.

This is going to flop. Her first week sales are horrible. Yeah. For all of the people thinking she'll be the next Ciara, keep in mind that Ciara had first-week sales of over 120K. That's approximately twice what Rihanna is projected to sell this week.

^hopefully she'll sell moer, she's way better than ciara, I would've preferred "let me" or "the last time" as a 2nd single anyways the whole album is hot. props to rihanna

I totally get her comparisons to Ciara...I saw her perform on the VMA preshow thing...she was less than impressive. It's always sad when the back up singers/dancers are more interesting than the main vocalist.
