Hey, soundscene never said they couldn't TRY. Very, very true. Anyway, sorry for stepping on any toes with my Daughtry (no caps this time) and Kelly comments. Maybe I did become enthralled in a complete state of fantard-itis a bit. It's just because I read here every so often and it seems like no one ever has anything nice to say about this guy so it hit a sensitive spot (see what I did there? ). Maybe I've just logged on at the worst times and read the bad pages. lol.

Umm... it was like that probably 30 pages ago? After certain posters stopped coming in here things settled down quite nicely. :)

Holy Mary Mother of God, what in the hell happened in here yesterday?!!! LOL! I guess the peaceful streak is over. Well, I'm glad to see it seems to have calmed down now. Can we go back to the nice calm thread it was before? Heh.
So... Barbasol! I love that song. I have no idea if rock radio is ever going to give it a shot, but I'm all for trying. If it gets through I think they could try "Kiss On The Neck" to that format, but its a hidden track so I don't know if they can release it. I suppose they could if they wanted to. The only other song that could work is perhaps "Breathe Tonight", but it was only on the Walmart CD. Hmmmm.
2 songs to track is going to be crazy fun. I'm pretty happy right now. I like both CBTM and Barbasol.

I'm pretty upset about this. RCA is f**king this up for him. WHY didn't they just choose to release "Decleration" or "Heroes" to all formats? Why all this simultaneous single s**t? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Well, maybe this is for the best. Everytime my fave songs get released, they flop. So... whatever.

WHY didn't they just choose to release "Decleration" or "Heroes" to all formats? Definitely agree with this. RCA is making it more difficult then it needs to be. I think CBTM shows great potential (it was one of the highest selling tracks on Amazon when the album released) but there is no gamble whatsoever in releasing Declaration or Heroes. Those are two definite hits that they are keeping on the sidelines. Especially, Heroes since it was played for an ESPN montage and was received very well. *sigh* RCA, RCA...

Hey, soundscene never said they couldn't TRY. I also didn't know they were releasing Barbasol, which is rock. I never figured they actually would send a song purely to rock because RCA doesn't usually do dual singles, and Barbasol is unlikely to work on mainstream.

If I recall correctly RCA released dual singles with Daughtry. I think they had Over You for pop radio and released What I Want to rock stations.

I don't even have a rock station in my area.

I think Cook is really talented but I think RCA is like denying him of a big hit. I don't like the choice of Barbasol cuz isn't it a cover of Spun Again by Injected? I think Declaration, Heroes, and Lie are the ones with big hit potential.

I think that I'm glad that I was busy yesterday and missed all of the drama. Um, thank you, work.
I like Heroes, but I've never seen it as a radio single. But DC announced at his concert tonight that Heroes is going to be used during the NCAA basketball tournament, so it will definitely be reaching a lot of ears in March. I do love March Madness---one of the best sports events of the year.
CBTM isn't one of my favorite DC songs, but I can see it being successful in mainstream. I don't know if rock radio will be open to DC, but Bar Ba Sol would seem to be the song most likely to kick in the doors there. Light On has gotten a good amount of play on Fuse, so maybe that made RCA think that it was possible for DC to get play on alternative/rock formats. Should be interesting.

One clarification---it sounds like Heroes is being used with some of the lead-up basketball tournaments: SEC and ACC.

Heroes is a great montage song.

CBTM will end this era. It's not even anywhere near as strong of a single as LO, and look how LO struggled. I think there's zero chance of CBTM being the CHR hit he needs. Leave it to RCA to screw everything up. At least Declaration or Lie would have had a shot, but CBTM is like leaving David out for the wolves. On the positive side though, it's good that they're gonna try BBS at rock. If that flops there, it will be solely because Cook is from AI.

I have to agreed with aTunes about CBTM as an impending era-ending single.. Its is a nice sound but totally bland balland which could not muster any momentum of whatsoever to salvage the musical damage caused by LO. His label must by be overunned by morons and ignoramus :) !!! And BBS is another bad choice for the rock radio - for being a boring rock song and for being a cover (which is a no no for those rockers) as well.
It they are thinking of releasing 2 songs for different markets - they should be Heros which is most probably the best song (CHR/AC) and Declaration which is his own self-penned song with enough hooks (rock)...

Moderate hit, with a chance it can still make recurrency provided it slows its descent over the next few weeks. It helps that there's a lot of songs going for recurrency in the coming weeks; it can bump LO up so it stays in the upper 20s/lower 30s longer. :)
It hits 20 weeks on the first Sunday of April, but it really only needs to last until March 29th, 'cause then it'll go recurrent the following Sunday whether it's in the top 40 or not.

Moderate hit. Top 20 on CHR and top 5 on HAC, and is over 700K with a few more weeks before it is really replaced as the lead single. LO got hurt on the front end by the fact that it took over 1000 spins to make it to the top 40 at that time, but it may be helped at this end by the fact that a lower number of spins could keep it in the top 40. So I guess that it all works out.

Also the decent amount of songs ready to go recurrent over the coming weeks. ;) At least Britney will go recurrent this week, and possibly Jason too (that would make 2 songs above LO - Kanye will be going too, but he's below LO). Then over the next couple of weeks we should see Kevin Rudolf fall out, TiRi and Taylor should be falling out in a few weeks as well with their recurrency dates approaching. Most of the fast-moving songs have passed LO by now, so if it slows down its descent now, it can hold off on the slower moving songs beneath it.
Also, while it's got a negative "bullet" it's been gaining spins back on Hot AC, I think. :)

I just checked the recurrency list - I'm a week out on Kanye; but he's still below David so that still shouldn't be an issue - and I forgot Lady GaGa, so that's another one to add to the list.

I'm making no presumptions based on the performances of LO and TOML -- I'm gonna wait and see what it does once it actually gets released to POP before I make any judgments. :)

Not that you asked, folkfan, but I think you already know that I think CBTM is the best pop song on the album. It has an accessible and fairly catchy melody, and the vocals are very well done -- no "rawwwkstar" shouting that (in my opinion) ruins some of the other songs on the album. Cook has a very pleasing voice when he just sings, and that's what he does on CBTM. I'm not predicting this will be a really big hit, but I think it could well make the top 15 and possibly higher depending on timing/luck/etc.
Of course, watch me be totally wrong, lol. But this is one song of his that I can actually root for, and not just because he is a nice guy.

Yeah, I knew of your CBTM love, seattlearchie. [grin]
R&R is reporting that the add date for CBTM on CHR/Pop is 3/17.
