I'm liking this. Sure, the melody is a bit derivative of "Whiskey Girl" (minus the minor chords), but it's well written and performed.

What do you fine folks think of this CD?
I hope this rousing single hits #1.

I would really like to see Toby reclaim his position as one of the top dogs in country music, and it seems he is off to a great start with this album.

As Bob Kingsley pointed out on 'CT40' yesterday after playing this rousing number, it was seven years ago this week that Toby's equally rousing 'I Wanna Talk About Me', which he played immediately afterwards, began a five-week stay @ #1, ending Tim McGraw's two-week stay in the penthouse with 'Angry All The Time' in the process.
I don't know if 'God Love Her' will spend five weeks at #1, but it's definitely as 'Toby-esque' as 'IWTAM' is IMHO, and should reach the top early in 2009.

I don't get the love for this song. It's alright. I don't consider it one of Toby's best songs though. Yeah, it's a solid song lyrically, but it's rather dull musically, IMO.
As a huge TK fan, I enjoy his "out there" stuff, his creative side. "Get Drunk And Be Somebody", "Stays In Mexico", "Big Blue Note", "A Little Too Late" are among my favorite Toby singles because of their creativity. The sound of each of these is unique and different. I could make a whole separate list for his non-singles.
But this one just feels too generic to me, musically especially. Yeah, the lyrics are very solid and witty, as is most of Toby's songs. But it doesn't make up for the lack of originality in the music.
Oh well, I'm just glad everyone likes it, everyone seems to be more accepting of Toby, and that it has a shot at the top spot on the charts. I'd love for him to have another long string of #1 hits like he did before. I don't even know all the songs on that list. "Whiskey Girl", "American Soldier", "Beer For My Horses" ....are the only ones I can remember. I think that "As Good As I Once Was" was the end of that run? Can someone correct me please?

'My List' was in there somewhere; it was the #1 single of 2002 @ R&R.
'Whiskey Girl' & 'As Good As I Once Was' were back-to-back chartoppers in 2004, and 'Courtesy Of The Red White & Blue (The Angry American)' went to #1 in 2002.
He had another pair of back-to-back number ones with 'I Love This Bar' & 'American Soldier' starting in late 2002; I'm not quite sure if 'ILTB' was the follow-up to 'Courtesy....', but I'm sure someone else will know.

As always, thank you Marv for the information. Always helpful.
Yeah, what we have there sounds about right. I believe it was 7 #1's in a row.

Toby's longest #1 streak was 6 straight from 2001's "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This" to 2002's "Who's Your Daddy?". After "Rock You Baby" topped out at #13, he racked up another 4 in a row (from "Beer For My Horses" to "Whiskey Girl") for an impressive run of 10 out of 11 #1's.

That's a staggering accomplishment; the fact that his label pulled 'RYB' after KPLX started playing the heck out of 'BFMH' forced them to rush-release it, and it eventually hit #1.

Wow, no comments on this song in over 2 months?
Next week should be the start of an interesting 6-8 week battle among Toby, Dierks, Kenny, and Keith for #1. I think there's a good chance they could all get to the top.

This has become my new favorite Toby song. I haven't liked a song by him this much since "He Ain't Worth Missing."

With this song moving to #1 this week, Toby collects his 18th Billboard chart-topper. That moves him out of the tie with the Oak Ridge Boys, Eddie Rabbitt, Mickey Gilley, and Don Williams, and now into a tie with Earl Thomas Conley and Crystal Gayle. Those two and Toby are now tied for 19th place all-time on the list of most Billboard Country #1s.
Next up for Toby to try to catch on that list, is Garth with 19, and Tammy Wynette and Brooks & Dunn with 20 (though B&D do still have a chance to be moving up to 21 within a month).
This is also the first back-to-back #1 for Toby in almost five years, since he hit the top with American Solider in Feb '04 and followed it up that July with Whiskey Girl (those were actually the third and fourth #1s in a row for Toby, after Beer For My Horses and I Love This Bar).
Finally, this also now gives Toby an even 50 career weeks that his 18 #1s have spent at the top.

Awesome! GREAT accomplishments for Toby with this song hitting the top spot.
Hopefully Toby's next single hits the top spot too.
Speaking of which, do we know what the next single is? Or have I just missed the memo?

Haven't heard anything yet. I'm hoping for That Don't Make Me A Bad Guy, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went with Lost You Anyway.

Does anyone know which of his singles spent the most weeks at #1 at either BB or R&R/Mediabase?
I heard Bob Kingsley say on the final 2008 edition of 'CT40' that 'My List' spent five weeks in the penthouse in 2002, but I don't know if that's his career best, and I was hoping that someone might know.
Thanks.
