A lot of people think this song is really cheesy, but I like it. It's so upbeat and happy.
It spent four weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 in the summer of 1976. It's his biggest CHR/Pop hit, spending 7 weeks at #1.

I love this song!!! The remake with RuPaul was extreme cheese, though.

Not terrible for pop standards, by Elton it pretty much began the end of his creative years, but I have heard tons worse. I also had the luxury of having some late teens on the same floor as me in my old apartment building who helped steer me away from this in favor of his great earlier stuff.

Good song. I remember long ago, there was a program that use to come on late at night on NBC back in the 70s (before some of you were alive) called Midnight Special. I remember seeing a video of the song that has Elton John & Kiki Dee in a recording studio singing to it. Cheesy as hell but a great uptempo tune at the time (actually occasional music video footages of songs are the TV network's predecessor to MTV).

I loved this song! I was only four and a half when it was on the charts, but I remember how overplayed the song was, and I never got tired of it.

Ooh, I just remembered Elton John sang this with Miss Piggy one time on "The Muppet Show"! (Either that or it was a really weird dream...)

I love this song!!! The remake with RuPaul was extreme cheese, though. That was a pretty good remake. It was fun. Total camp. And Giorgio Moroder did a good mix of this track.

Karaoke will keep this one alive for ages, it's an extremely popular duet number.
This wouldn't be in my top 20 of his singles I think, but that's just a testament to how much incredible music Elton has made, because it's still an A-level pop song.
Like Michael and Madonna, Elton is such a legend that he has many subsequent songs that became classics (including the single after this) with the help of his status, to the extent that it's rather forgotten that this was technically the final hit of his golden period of success.
