I like it. I'm glad it had 2 chart runs.

I couldn't stand it for the longest time, but now I like it too.

So grossly overplayed that it's lost its effect. It's still not horrible but I switch it off when it comes on radio.

Stand By Me peaked at #4 in 1961 and #9 in 1986 after it used in the Rob Reiner film of the same name.

I personally think this is one of the best R&B songs of all time. The lyrics are beautiful.

A classic ruined by Sean Kingston. And now Mr Kingston is off to ruin another song , D'Yer Maker by LedZep.

This is a beautiful song about friendship. Ben's vocal is exceptional.

I would definitely say this is one of my all time favorite songs, if not my favorite song of all time. Very sad to hear about his death.

RIP Ben E. King
Celine put her spin on the song in this old video from one of the restaurants she co-owned, Nickels:

I remember this Ben E. King record well, from it's original time in May-June, 1961, when I was 18 years old. It gives me memories of that time. Ben E. King also had other hits, starting as the lead singer for the group "The Drifters". He left the group in early 1961, and had a few solo hits. This was his second solo hit (as I remember it). His first was "Spanish Harlem".

My local oldies station (which plays almost exclusively 70’s and 80’s hits) still spins this frequently. It’s too good not to. Classic.

Good if not overplayed on oldies/classic hits stations.
