I sort of just re-discovered this... I didn't pay the song a whole of attention back in the day when it was a single, and I remember the dance version annoying me b/c of it's repetitiveness. But I think it's actually a really good song now, the sound was rather ahead of it's time.

I like this cos she actually sings it like she understands the words, rather than shriek/shout her way through it like she does most of her ballads.

One of my favorite songs from the MLIYL album. And I liked the video too. Thats what made me like the song even more.

This song was very good, but I still didn't see why this song was a bigger hit than It's Not Right, But It's Okay. Now THAT song is quite the jam. This song gets a tad boring after a while...

It's boring!
Great lyrics though.

A great song from her most consistent album. I feel like this being a single released earlier may have eased old Whitney fans into the new Whitney better than "Heartbreak Hotel", but either way it was a great hit for her. I didn't think she had it in her to have 3 successful hot 100 top 5s in a row at that point. The album definitely had the material to give her more, but bad publicity started right around then.

I loved this song! It was quite amazing. I like how Whitney was more subdued vocally on this. As others mentioned, I like the fact that she wasn't "shrieking" on this one. She was still powerful on this one.
The lyrics were quite powerful too.
I actually heard the Jonathan Peters remixes for this one before the original so I went based on that. I heard the original eventually and fell in love with that one too.
This is truly a classic!

I love this! Though I find it quite hillarious every now and then [instert crack reference] but yeah. It's a great song and one of my favorites from the album.

I absolutely loved the Jonathan Peters Mix I heard on the "Throw Down" CD of her Greatest Hits. I didn't like the other version of it on the "Cool Down" part though. I like this one more than most of her previous hits.

What I said about "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" a few minutes ago would also fit this: It's alright but she's had MUCH better.

This is one of my favorite Whitney songs, mostly because of the beautiful lyrics.

I like it. I think "Heartbreak Hotel" was her best from that era.

The dance CHR targeted mix wasn't bad, but I prefer the LP version, really. As a whole this is a hot record, her last big hit, sadly.

I was in love with this when it was out. They did a really incredible job updating her sound in the late 90s and shifting her sound away from the adult contemporary ballads and more toward a youthful, yet mature urban sound. I wish she hadn't spiralled out of control after this album because I would have loved to hear more of this Whitney.

This album definitely helped Whitney reach a younger audience than she previously had. This song itself was a really fun song when it used to come on the radio.
The original album version trumps the dance version.

Unlike "It's Not Right"- for which I prefer the dance mix- I prefer the original version of this. One of her best tracks, lyrically. It has a nice quasi-reggae-ish vibe (thanks Wyclef) and I love the groove. I can see why some may find it "boring," though, especially if they like the dance mix that got some airplay.

I really liked the original, slow version of this song. Then they came out with a faster, dance mix that (in my opinion) destroyed it. Guess which version got all the airplay after that?

This is one of my favorite Whitney songs, mostly because of the beautiful lyrics. Mostly this. Also, it goes really well with the Wyclef beat. I actually never heard the dance remix of this one on the radio, where it was about 50/50 by the time I heard "It's Not Right" on pop (I remember hearing the regular version on rhythmic/urban stations at the time "When You Believe" was out on ac/pop/etc.).
