This was the Oscar-nominated theme from Mahogany. How this missed the Record/Song of the Year Grammy ifor this BB Chart topper is beyond me. I know she sung it live via Satellite for the Oscars--a rarity during that time. It's a timeless track that's been re-recorded many, many times by the likes of Johnny Mathis, Mariah Carey, and even Jennifer Lopez! Although I think Mariah's is the best remake I've heard IMO. s17.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3FAWB2X2VKKT32IZMRODG7W2ZR

Like this song a lot. J-Lo did a cover of this?! Yes, for her Puerto Rico concert. It actually wasn't bad.

This has never been a favorite of mine, but I do think it's a good song.

Yes, for her Puerto Rico concert.Β It actually wasn't bad. Also, Mariah Carey did a beautiful remake of this back in '98

I like it.... nice song. The only remake I've heard is J.lo's.

This tune was #1 on the Hot 100 for 1 week and was released under the title of "Theme From Mahogany" which was a film starring Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams

70s ballads like this are hit or miss for me, but I've always loved this song. Very strong melodically and lyrically, and it's probably one of Diana's best vocal performances.

I don't dislike it, but it's never been one of my favorites by Diana.
Both Mariah and J.Lo's covers are meh. Mariah's a good vocal but blah production and J.Lo's the complete other way around.

I love this song. Mainly because I loved it so much as a kid (damn I was gay). The melody and the instrumental are so pretty.

She's definitely had better, but this isn't bad.
Hit #14 on the R&B chart.

Love this. It's a sweet song. It's probably my fave ballad she had done in the 70s.
I'll rank the covers as this:
Diana J. Lo Mariah

Just recently found out that Thelma Houston recorded this two years before Diana's version.
